Any set that is under $10 is obviously going to be trimmed down when compared against a $50 or $100 set. Playing with a $10 set is always going to be a different experience to playing with a $100 set. And that probably factors into why some themes do not have smaller sets, outside of polybags / figures. If you don't get the experience of the theme, it may just look like a crummy little unnecessary set.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Yeah, I think for the UK they normally limit you to 15 pieces. You just give them the element ID and they will look it up. They might have the cloth sails for Barracuda Bay, although they are likely to sell them as a pack (if that is how they come in the set) and they will not be cheap. They did used to sell the Dragon Knight torsos on B+P. I doubt they will come back though. -
These occasionally appear in WH Smiths too, and sometimes Sainsburys (Local) will get polybags on strips. The regular polybags (not the foil ones from LEGO magazines) also sometimes appear in non-LEGO magazines for kids (and sometimes adults) as a "free" gift. Like this: As to why Monkie Kid and Hidden Side don't have cheap boxed sets, I guess LEGO must think that anyone wanting those specific themes will be able to purchase significantly more expensive sets - maybe there is no point in putting out cheaper sets for those ones. If there is nothing exclusive to the set in them, then sales of that set might be lower. And if there is something exclusive then they could have put it into a bigger (more expensive) set. I've often found the problem (as a parent) with the cheap sets in a smaller range is that my kids might get 2, 3, sometimes 4 of that set for their birthday. Whereas with larger themes such as City, other kids might buy them a small set but given there are many small sets, chances are they will be different.

Best non-Lego source for Lego exclusive sets?
MAB replied to eldomtom2's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Amazon is not overpricing it, as Amazon is not selling it. Those high prices are from market place resellers fishing for idiots. No they aren't, they are selling only part of the set for under five dollars, it is just the motorbike. It is an INCOMPLETE set. -

I can't even order, it has been down for 24 hours for me. I continually get the "something went wrong at our end" message. I don't think I have ever seen capes in stock at B+P. But if you phone you can normally order them. However, they are expensive. It depends on the cape, but £1+ per cape is normal. -
I don't really understand the question given that the 2020 City range has these 7 sets at the £9 / $10 / 10 Euro price point. Star Wars has microfighters at $10 (and larger battle packs at $15). Brickheadz are $10. Smaller Creator sets are $10. Juniors Batman Batboat is $10. Moana and Sleeping Beauty, both $10. The new Ninjago spinjitsu sets, $10. Ninjago cars, $10. Ninjago arcades, $10. The cheaper technic sets are £9/10 Euro but come in slightly higher in the US. As noted above, there are also the polybags that are available in many countries where LEGO sells well. Then there are also lots of other competing LEGO products at similar low prices, such as the collectable minifigures series, LEGO magazines with promotional bags (both in-house and licensed), things like the Friends cubes, DOTS, and so on.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
MAB replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's funny, people used to think that £1.99 was a lot for a single minifigure back in the early days of CMF. I used to wait until they were about £1.20 or below to purchase them. These days, if I can buy them for £1.75 or below, then I will (and most series will go to these prices). Otherwise I pass. I remember buying Roman soldiers on ebay for £3-4 each thinking this is a lot for one figure. Whereas now, selling off just the shields brings in double that. -
Best non-Lego source for Lego exclusive sets?

BL fees are 3% and paypal fees will be about 4-5%. So the seller will need to add on about 10% to break even. And they still have to do the work and take a risk, so expect at least another 20% to make it worthwhile. And that is when there aren't shortages. Plus shipping a large set is expensive. It would be better to make friends with someone in the UK and get them to ship it to you at cost. Remember they are likely to be limited to 1 or 2 per person so if someone passes one on, it may mean they cannot get one for their own use. -
Maybe the roadie should be with an amp or speakers. Plus for a conductor's baton, we already have the Harry Potter wands that could be reused.

Be aware that if you look in an old set, they might say an old grey part is available, but you will get a new bluish grey. It is a replacement parts service, so they suggest something close if the old part is now defunct. -
Is it time for LEGO to stop being colorblind?

Well, ... I cannot be bothered to cut and paste any more. How do you know this? Can you spot someone in the street and know their sexual orientation? -
Have a look in the historical forum, which is where Castle discussion belongs: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/forum/10-lego-historic-themes/

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Sometimes not every piece is in that inventory. They are getting better but occasionally pieces are still missing, it is why sometimes the brickset inventories do not list 100% of the parts. -
A microphone is all they really need. That is all the Popstar from S2 got. Black Canary from TLBM got a stand as well. Maybe add a printed tile like Flashback Lucy (gold disc).

If you click either "reveal hidden contents" or the link, he has built something from LEGO with a Batman minifigure on top. I haven't a clue what it is meant to be, but there is your link to LEGO. I guess something to do with Game of Thrones as well.

They get the data from the replacement parts section, not the paid for section. -
That looks amazing, especially for only one week. Do you have any other close ups to show the details?
-
Very true. And of course this is the problem. Sites offer free hosting as when people use them they generate advert income, yet if they bypass the site almost completely and only link to the images from elsewhere then the advert revenue does not come and so the site eventually disappears, as do the images.
-
This will always be a problem with EB in the future too, as images must be hosted elsewhere and not on EB. And if the hosting service changes their way of operating or disappears then content will be lost.

Another obvious one is sports, we have had a few in the past. There are loads you could choose from: football / soccer american football golf baseball basketball cricketer rugby tennis badminton field hockey ice hockey table tennis athletics gymnastics wrestler (not WWE style) swimmer cyclist snooker player cheerleader fan with big foam hands What would be great is if the clothes would be somewhat generic, so you could use the footballers torso on the rugby player for example, to help create teams or more unique characters.

I think they look great, and it is clear who all four are. It also makes sense since bath ducks are traditionally yellow. If they were to do yellow = white people and then use other shades for different races, then they might as well just use light nougat for white people and get rid of yellow for (human) skin altogether. Lighter-skinned people can also feel the same (due to the wrong colour for human skin principle). You only need to look at how many MOCs use fleshies to tell that a number of adult builders prefer realistic tones instead of the unrealistic yellow skin. -
There are loads. Some we already have but could do with more for variety. From ancient to middle age times, ones like: Roman Greek Thracian Chinese Egyptian Akkadian / Mesopotamium Hittite Assyrian Dacian Celtic Macedonians Huns Aztecs Incas Vikings Many different European style of knights (although we used to get something close in castle) etc. What I'd like to see in any such characters is that the print on legs and torso is not continuous, so any legs could be used with any torso. That would allow so much more variation from a fixed series. I'm no longer a collector of series. I prefer to collect armies / large groups so variation on a common theme is more important to me. Ones that are great are like the recent Fright Knight. The torso is really generic and free from specific details and can be used as a base for so many different characters.

They do look great, although I'm not a fan of the one in the tennis skirt. I wish LEGO did one decent Roman skirt style piece for fleshie legs.
