GoH 11: Tranquil tasting [Dandelume, Avalonia]
Simon_S replied to T-86(swebrickLUG)'s topic in Guilds of Historica
There are many cool things in this :-). I also love the chairs. And the pottery that fell down is a nice touch! The door is also nice with the rollerskates in it. As feedback I would love to see better pictures of this. Maybe take it outside next time on a cloudy day? Right now the picture feels very grainy and you almost can't see details like the rollerskates in the door - which is sad, because you put a lot of work in it. And also in that nice textured wall ;-). I don't want to know how long that took hehe. Nice build! Keep up the cool work!- 13 replies

This is so cool! Many nice details. As Kai said - the dome technique is really cool. And the colours work well together. And I love how you used white details to bring some contrast to the large tan walls. Great job! Brick on! Btw. do you collect als these Barqa MOCs and show us one day the whole city? Or did you break down the lighthouse to build this one?

This is such a cool build - you can just look at it and everybody can tell that it's yours. I love your style! The woodwork looks great. Many parts are simple but very effective. I also like the mitgardian atmosphere of the build. Brick on!

That's just a really beatiful build. I love all the details and that it's so colourful :-). The ground also works very well. And of course all the clothing you put in there. Great job! I also like how you used the harry potter wand. Wasn't it difficult that they break away from the sprue while trying something like this?
-
Nice build! I like how you used special curved parts for the wagon - and even some with stickers on it. Good job!
-
Cool build! I didn't know that the fish comes in so many different colours. The well technique is also pretty cool. And your minifigs are nice :-). Brick on!
-
I like how wide the house is and that the roof is so "flat" - gives a really cool mitgardian feeling. Using the macaroni tile for the point of the roof worsk also good. Nice build! Brick on!

This is pretty cool! Nice details all around - on the inside and outside! You also have some pretty cool minifigs in there! Where is that troll sixpack torso from?

I love how busy this scene is! So many details to see everywhere. It feels so crowded - just like a real marked shoud be :-). And I also like the presentation: The light blue background for the sky gives a nice contrast to the build by itself which is dominated by tan and brown. Great job!
-
thank you for the kind words Aurore :-). Yeah arranging the tiles took quite some time. I'm not sure if I saved time with this technique or if I wasted it and if it would have been faster to just build a normal base. Anyway, it was fun to try it out but I think in the future I'll stick to more classical bases.

I really like this! The colours work well together. And you have so many nice part usages in this. I especially like the pretzels for the windows - what a cool idea! The photography is also top notch. The background works really well. Did you use a screen for it?

Home of Wisdom by Simon Schweyer Home of Wisdom Futuros couldn't sleep. He found no inner peace. After reading philosophical books, he simply couldn't turn off his thoughts. What really existed? And what was just imagination? And why did anything exist, rather than nothing? It was the really big questions of life that he now faced. He traveled across vast countries in search of answers. Finally he came to a lonely place. In the middle of the bamboo, surrounded by warm springs where monkeys played, he found a building with a shimmering green roof. A monk sat in front of the building. Satoshi. Futuro started talking to him. Maybe he could help... Built for Brickscalibur Far East Elegance. Credits: I took a lot of inspiration from Mountain Hobbits "The Peaceful Pagoda" for the timbered Sections in the house ;-). Home of Wisdom by Simon Schweyer Home of Wisdom by Simon Schweyer Home of Wisdom by Simon Schweyer Thanks for looking, have a nice day and brick on! Simon

Very nice - the roof is so effective! The Style of the trees looks so cool. And I also like the integrated lights, which give the whole build some more colour :-).
-
Thank you Grover :-). Yeah Ii'm also not 100% convinced on the loose pieces. I knew that I wanted to build another Brickscalibur entry so I had to get this one together in time and this "technique" (if you can even consider it as building) saved me a lot of time... and now we got a deadline extension lol. Anyway, I already took the build apart. And I had a lot of fun building this, and I needed steady hands, especially for balancing the leaves with the 3 fingers. Thank you :-). It's actually the first time I used LightMyBrick lights in a MOC and it's way easier than expected. thank you! Thank you :-).

Thank you! Yes it's coral. This part came in the PaB wall so I could get them cheap and thought I'd build a roof in a MOC with unusual colours... this is the result of it :-). Also, it's my first time that I use lights in a MOC. Thank you :-). Yeah those curved pieces are perfect for making smoke. I have no idea what they were intended to be... were they originally made for smoke? Or for something else? Thank you! Thanks man!

After the Trolls were defeated, the commerce in Agasûl and the surrounding villages started flourishing again. On the foot of the rock of the dragons grew the most juicy and delicious mitgardian blueberrys. And they were so many of them! The people in Agasûl made everything out of the blueberries: blueberry pie, blueberry cake, blueberry ice cream, blueberry juice, and so on. But they still couldn't use all of them so they started to make blueberry liquor with the leftovers. It quickly became a hit. Many people startet their own little blueberry liquor companies. And as you would expect it on the market: Competition improves the products. Everybody strived to make the best blueberry liquor. People even started to put some magical stuff in it - just to make it even tastier. And to sell more of it. Until today, blueberry liquor is known as a typical drink from Agasûl. Please be careful and don't drink too much blueberry liquor: this typical mitgardian alcoholic drink has cost some dwarves their freedom. Spoiler: 2 Pictures: The first with lights shut off and the second is a night photo with only the integrated lights. Thanks for looking! Have a nice day and brick on! - Simon

Thank you for the kind words! The bagpipe is from a CMF which came a loong time ago and I think it works very well in a fantasy setting: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=col07-6#T=S&O={"iconly":0} Thanks :-). Yeah the inside of the mountain was a lot of work. Especially because when the front was finished, you had the idea that the MOC is ready for the convention / for display. But it took so much time and parts to make the whole inside of the mountain nice. Thank you for the kind comment!

Oh wow, this is so impressive! The dwarves statues are so good! Great sculpting! The SNOT frames behind them also work very well and give them even more attention. The 45 degree angled bricks used inside out in the walls are also a nice detail. Brick on! -
This is so cool! I love the solution for the round roof. This is always a problem and you found a great way, covering the gaps with the dragon heads. They give the whole tower a unique character. Great build man!

This is just a very beautiful castle! The stone parts and the tudor parts are both very impressive. I also like how many plants you put around the rooks - the whole thing looks so organic. Keep up the cool work! Brick on! -
Sanctuary of light [Dandelume, Avalonia]
Simon_S replied to T-86(swebrickLUG)'s topic in Guilds of Historica
I saw this a long time ago on flickr and now I saw it here in the forum and have finally time to comment on it :-). As others have mentioned, the lightning is really cool and makes this build stand out. Especially because it would be not so colourfull without it. The tree looks also great! Nice work man! -
There are so many nice details to spot in this :-). I really like what you did with the new tiles, I think they work really well. It's so cool that you made the whole build modular and that we can see in every room. I love the interiors! Especially the baby bed stood out to me, what a great idea! One last thing I want to notice and that I'll remember is using staircases for a roof. That makes the whole thing stable, looks nice on the inside and gives a lot of room which you can fill with details. Very nice build!

Very nice build! I like the colour choices for the shields. Especially having the light blue in the shields and on the head of the ship makes it very eye catching. The water technique als works very well :-) -
