Design your Sci-Fi faction and enter the Summer Faction Festival !
-
Summer Faction Festival It's summer, it's hot outside, it's the perfect time to design your own sci-fi faction and build rovers, spaceships, moon base or anything you want, as long as it matches a set of colors that you'll have to choose. (This still applies even if it's winter in your area!) What defines best a faction than its colors?! So choose yours, wisely, and start building! The different colors you have to decide on are: One or two primary colors: must be the most dominant(s) color(s) of your builds Two to three secondary colors: used as accents or details, but not as much as the primary colors One transparent color: should be used for the canopies, windows and such You can of course use more colors if needed for smaller elements. And be creative, try to not use existing Lego colorscheme! Categories A: The small band - Design and build anything that fits inside a 32 studs and respects the colorscheme of your faction! B: The large band - Design and build anything that doesn't fit the size restriction of category A while still matching your faction's colorscheme. C: The crew - Design and build a group of six (6) sci-fi themed minifigs that represent members of your faction. D: The faction - Present your faction with a description, your choice of colors, and as much pictures as you want (including your entries for other categories) (Prizes infos will be added later) Rules First rule: have fun! For every entry, please write at least a short description of your faction including the faction's colors. For category C, brickbuilds robots or characters are allowed, just don't oversize them. Be sure to include a picture with all six of your crew. For category A, the largest dimension of your build must not be over 32 studs. The contest will run from July 10th to August 31st 2025. As long as it's still August 31st somewhere in the world, you can still enter. Entries posted after the deadline will be disqualified. This contest is open to all EB members, even if they joined EB after the contest has begun, with the exception of the Sci-Fi staff, who are not eligible to win prizes. You can enter any of the categories with any numbers of entries, but you'll be eligible to receive only one prize. All entries must be new creations, not posted anywhere else prior to being entered in the contest. You may be asked by a staff member to change your entry if it is too similar to an earlier creation. All entries must be built from real LEGO. No clone brands, no third-party custom parts, no digital entries. Custom sails and rigging are allowed. Non-Lego light sources are allowed as long as you mention it in your entry description. You can use official stickers or custom stickers. All entries must be posted as a new topic in the Sci-Fi forum, the title prefixed by, "[SFF] Cat X - ". (For example, "[SFF] Cat C - LArge mining ship".) You may do a 'full-blown photo edit' with all the text, effects, background compositing, support erasing, and other effects on one picture. All your other pictures may have no editing other than color adjustment or background removal for a solid-color background. For obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or color (not tint or adjustment, but actual color) of a LEGO piece is prohibited. All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC.

Hi, First try not to respond to 10+ years old thread Thanks for your feedback on these mocs. The links don"t work anymore, sorry, and I don't plan on putting them on Rebrickable as they are so old... Maybe if I rework them.

[MOC] UCS Jedi Defender Class Light Corvette
Bob De Quatre replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks everyone! Both the egines and the big side thingies should be illuminated, but I couldn't find a suitable solution. I tried using EL wires but the light wasn"t bright enough. I considered using leds but I had three problems: space, cost and gaps in the model that would have let the light go through anf thud would have needed 3d printed parts (or duct tape). Anyway I decided to not illuminate those areas.... -
A little build I did back in October. It was a Vic Viper at the time, and got displayed at a couple of events, but I never really liked how it turned out... So I decided to get rid of the two prongs and added the guns on the wings. Ice Planet Recon Craft by BobDeQuatre, on Flickr Ice Planet Recon Craft by BobDeQuatre, on Flickr

What a journey it was... It's been two years since I started working on this MOC, but I've been wanting to do it since Lego released their version of the Defender back in 2013... I don't know how many hours I spent working on it, or the number of parts I used... But the answer might be close to "a fucking quite lot". It's officially a SHIP since it is 80 studs long and 64 studs width. I used as reference a picture of an official artwork for the game but it was too small to take any measurements, so I also used a high-res image of a 3D rendering that had orthogonal views of the ship and of course Sariel's model scaler to get all the dimensions in Lego studs. Ok guys, let's stop the argument about the City space boxes before it goes too far. Maybe one day we'll have a clear explanation from some one from TLG. Today I plan on getting as much Ice Planet and M-tron cmf as possible, but since I don't have a good internet connexion while in my local Lego Store, I'll most likely won't use Brick Search app but just a simple QR code scanner and check the numbers in the list provided here https://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-space-collectible-minifigures-71046-code-scanning-returns/

Bob De Quatre replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Anything can enter cat C. For cat B you'll have to follow the rules, and then your entry is considered a WIP until the end of the contest. There are no rules about number of parts, you can use as many as you want... If you read carefully the rules, the key word is "or"... key features, shapes or functionnalities are mentiuonned as examples, the important thinkg is that when people see your moc and the original set, they could see the link between the two. -
[Contest] Space Pirates - Back to the Carribean Galaxy!
Bob De Quatre replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Sorry for the late reply... Altough I really like the idea of a steampunk pirates theme, for this contest we'll stick to space pirates... So yes it is stricly space style pirates. For Category B you have to redesign an existing pirate set in the space pirate theme. I added a precision to the rules "For category B, you must rebuild one existing Lego pirate set, from any era including the latest produced last year, into a space pirate moc. The original set must be recognizable, with key features, shapes or functionnalities for example." If you wanted to enter category B, I think you took the wrong path starting from a space set isntead of a pirate set. If you want to continue this MOC, I then suggest you post it for category C.
