  1. I have this on VIP order - should be here soon. It looks very interesting, but looks a little short. What with using only one hull piece across the bottom. Currently the grandson plays with an old Black Seas Barracuda and a few faked up figures when he comes to visit, and he loves it. I think this will blow his tiny little mind. If he's good I might even left him play with it
  2. Pick up a bunch of minifigs from the latest, series 10, set. Feeling the bags I was convinced that I had found either the Tomahawk Warrior or Revolutionary Soldier. Instead, what I thought was a weapon turned out to be the wrench for the Motorcycle Mechanic. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. About the only things of worth was the bandana and the tattooed left arm. I dug through my collection of other unused figures and put together this motley crew. I think I’ve managed to salvage something at least. Crew 1 S6 Butcher – head Lego Troll Warship – torso S5 Artist – torso S6 Butcher – accessories I can’t remember where the butchers head came from, which is a shame, as its perfectly manic looking for someone armed with a meat clever. Crew 2 S4 Punk Rocker – torso S8 Football Player – head S8 Jungle Boy – torso Crew 3 For some reason I’ve decided that these two are brothers, and have now changed it so that both use the Ninjago legs as seen on the left figure. Both sets of legs came from the Sun Newspaper blue Ninjago sets S45 Punk Rocker – head S8 Football Player – white torso S8 DJ – Head Crew 4 This is a side view of Jungle boy from Crew 1, showing off the flame tattoo arm from the Mechanic that I gave them all The other I’ve named Ben Gunn, from Treasure Island. That’s supposed to be a chunk of “good Christian cheese” in his hand. (Though I think a yellow wedge (30 1x1 2/3) would work better.) S5 Ice Fisherman – torso S4 Garden Gnome - head, beard S8 Jungle Boy - legs
  3. Like it. I think I'm going to steal a couple of ideas <yoink!>
  4. I agree. It will be a lot more work but I'm going to paint the beastplate as well. It will lighten up the figure as well as ensure that the colours match. Each base Uruk Hai cost me 50p, and I bought twelve Sun newspapers costing £6 in total. I had to order the hats, and feather and luckily I think I already have enough weapons to go round. All told, they come in at just under £2 per figure (what with P&P and everything).
  5. Test Shot I liked the look of the series 8 conquistador and so far have eleven of them. When the latest Sun newspaper giveaway in October included the LOTR Uruk Hai, i thought that they would make for an easy custom. New heads, helms and white plumes and now I have twelve, gray armour conquistadors ready for a face off. The customising I had to do was repaint the black helms. For this test run I used Games Workshop gunmetal (now called leadbelcher in the new range). It is a little lighter then the breastplate though. What do you think? Should I leave it as is, or add a little black to make it match the original. Or is the original too dark and I should repaint that to match the hemit. So; leave as is, repaint the breastplate, or darken the helm??
  6. Hi I'm on holiday this week, and having a useless time of it due to the weather :( I ended up buying the Black Pearl set to lift my spirits. It is a small ship and I can see me buying extra hull parts to embiggen it. I recently bought 4 kg box of mixed Lego off Ebay for £52 as I was sure that I could spot bits of the Black Seas Barracuda in it. Turned out to be the complete set (minus the sails). The same box also contained the Caribbean Clipper as well (again minus the sails). The rest of the box seems to be from various sets, but I'm sure there's a old lego techincal fork lift truck in there as well. That brings my total fleet up to seven now
