Castle Orc helmet ! I simply think the orc minifigure is a treasure to look at, and the helmet comes in a silver and a gold version. Front (would be nice if links to bricklink pictures could be added to the vote)

Nope, it's a stick that he use to block the wheels of all those Power Miners vehicles. Those stupid humans should have made covers for those wheels. Front

You two are really not caring about my health? While I built his hut, I had to make Meltrox passive by putting him in the refrigerator. He was very angry after I took him out again, and there is no way I can get close to his hut now. The truth is that there really is no interior to his home. It is very small and need all space available for crystals. Front

In the deepest caves, down where no light will ever reach, except the beams of spotlights created by humans, if they ever manage to dig that deep, lives Meltrox. Nobody will ever want to go that deep because Meltrox is angry, destructive, full of rage for everyone and everything - and that's when he is in a good mood. Nobody would ever want to cross his path, and certainly not disturb his home. A STAY OUT sign is not needed here. Power Miners is not down here. Better safe than sorry. Front

lol Kim :-) Having a hard time keeping up with the youth? With 39 I struggle from time to time too. Good advice it is indeed, to write a bit more calmly. Front

Hi from rainy Denmark. Do not fear, if your city gets to big, move it outside, rain wont harm it. Just cover it with some big sheet in the summer time, to avoid the sun damaging the colour saturation of the bricks If you ever have sun that is. We have a little in Denmark from time to time. Front

I would like to go there if I have the time, but Kolding is a bit far from Copenhagen, and I have to go there too for a meeting in January. Would be fun though to meet som EB members. Front

I wondered if it is possible to have some graphs showing stuff like: 1: Number of members through time (time meaning from start of Eurobricks till present) (could be number of new members pr. week) 2: Numbers of post pr. week through time 3: Number of active members pr. month through time 4: add your own suggestions Front

Although Bionicle is mostly based on the technic building connectors, I think it would be nice to have a seperate forum for Bionicle. Technic threads may be too few here (which is rather odd for such an "adult-aimed" site like this), to justify a seperate category. But it has been my thought from back when I first found this site, that the mix of technic and bionicle keeps technic users away from the site, and keeps registred users from starting new threads. Personally I like bionicle for the cool look of the figures, and like technic for the complexity. A lot of Bionicle parts use the sphere connectors, and these does not make a lot of sence in technic mocs. Many bionicle parts are "end pieces", with only one or a few connectors, not enabling a part to be in the middle of a chain of connected lego pieces. The classic example is the many weapons. I still think there is a big unexplored moc area though, where bionicle parts, classic technic parts and system parts are used together. This is essentially what we see in a lot of system sets, just look at some of the new PowerMiner sets. But the moc'ing posebilities could be driven to whole new territories by people combining all kind of Lego parts. Front btw. quite funny to see a 33-no and 33-yes voting so far

I completely missed the show as I was at a family event. Saw some of the videos on youtube linked to in this thread, but none are really showing of some cool creations. Front

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009

omg that intro on the new site is quite funny. Thank you for reporting the news :-) Frot -
I would try telling the kids what they can touch and what they can't, not sure though it would work :-) Why not place some of your sets out of reach (high up), and have a small set that you can build together with the kids. Front

As a Exo-fan I thank you very much for this detailed review. I modified the cockpit myself, adding small bricks closing the holes on the sides and on the back of the cockpit. Remember to go to lego.com and ask for replacement parts for your ball joints which failed. They will probably send you some extra to make sure another failure will not stop you from moc'ing. Front

I like your small vehicles Mr. X, and this one is no exception. I like the colours, green for the win. although Honda motorcycles very very rarely come in green :-) Front

Technic B-Models

I had a closer look at the 8262 Quad-Bike and alternative side by side, and I think the alternative is of really high quality. It looks like the designers spent a lot of time doing alternatives for the 2009 technic sets. Front -
As an expert on geometry, I have been interested in Platonic solid for a long time. Platonic Solids on wikipedia The dodecahedron is a 12 sided solid consisting of 5-sided polygons as faces. The Icosahedron is a 20 sided solid with 3-sided polygons as faces. These two are each others duals. If you draw triangles from the center of each face on the 12-sided Dodecahedron, you get a geometry with 12 corners and 20 sides, and that is the Icosahedron. Similar you can arrive at the Dodecahedron by drawing Pentagons from each center of the triangles on the 20-sided Icosahedron. Similar, they can be made with the exact same Lego elements. 12 sided Dodecahedron (left) and 20 sided Icosahedron (right). They have the same number of edges (30), which is why the can be built with the same number of bricks. 60 hinge plates (forming the corners in the triangles or pentagons) 60 pairs of "grip" and "bar" hinge plates (forming the angle between adjecent faces). 60 1x6 plates (or tiles is in the picture). Some 1x6 reinforcement plates on the inside can help making the structures sturdy. --- Archimedean solids on wikipedia can be derived from Platonic solids, in most cases by cutting of corners. With the building technic shown by me here, it is not possible to make those structures. That is because the solids have different polygons (e.g. 5- and 6-sided polygons in the famoues Truncated Icosahedron solid, which is used as a pattern on soccer balls). The actual edge lenght of the two structures in my pictures, are not 6 studs long as the plates would indicate, but a bit more depending of the number of sides on the polygons made (3-sided or 5-sided in the pictures). I will have to figure out a good way to make Archimedean solids with Lego elements in the future. Front

In this years ‘Lego Show’, Kai Pflaume invites his candidates to guess the form of different Lego bricks with their toes, or to build a life-size fire engine. For a charitable purpose, celebrities challenge Kids. The Lego bricks, which were won during the different action games in the show, will be transported by huge trucks to needy children at the end of the show. Prominent guests are Christoph Maria Herbst, Nina Hagen and Verona Pooth, as well as many national and international music acts. ** above taken from ** SevenOne Media Front

I'm not sure, but I know that some German TV stations add their programs to their website, probably after it has been shown. I will check up on this. Front

On saturday the 29th of November, the german TV station SAT1 have a 2.5 hour program called "The Lego Show". It is showing from 20:15 to 22:45 CET. Die Lego Show Be sure to watch this program if you are able to see this TV channel. I look foreward to it myself, and fortunately understand German language very well. The Lego Show in 2003 was a huge succes, it's said that 50% of all German kids watched it. Front
