  1. Thank you for that. It was really worth reading. One thing that I see as a possible concern with two actuators couple to the same gearing, as that if there is some overload, there maybe is little chance that each linear actuator will slip the same amounts in the clutches, and thereby get the actuators out of sync. Front
  2. Great transforming robots. The chopper really looks well designed. I guess it takes some "thinking" to create transforming Lego models. Great stuff. Front
  3. I don't know what all the questioning of the price settings are all about. Look at any other goods, like cameras etc. and the price difference between USA and Europe is exactly the same. You see the dollar drops, but no company can let their selling price to USA increase at the same amount. If they do, they are won't sell anything. And the USA market is important for many companies.
  4. Great to see you guys had an "inside tour" at the museum. That is not for everybody to see that small museum of the Lego history. I hope you enjoyed the event, at least it looks like you had loads of fun. Front
  5. Thank you for the reminder. I in fact already read your reviews about the excavator and the actuators, but now I look foreward to the Actuator part 2 writing. I still do not 100 % understand its functions/posebillities. It's really nice to see new Technic parts, and I think there is more to come in the future, that will make many a Technic-builder happy
  6. Great build, that's what I very much think. Thank you for inspiration. Front
  7. I don't have the set in front of me right now, but to add an V10 engine like there is in the other Ferrari F1 technic sets, I think there has to be done quite some rebuilding of the rear of the car. First of all the rear axle for each rear wheel is just a short axle cross axle, so you need to find space for an differentiale and the actual engine. There are many black bricks in the area where the engine should go, but I guess that should be possible to find room for it. But surely it's a major rebuild. I'm sure some will find a way of adding powerfunction drive and steering to the model. That might be even easier. I think that batteries can be hidden under some bricks on either side of the driver seat. I'm not sure though I got the skills to do any of these modifications, without using massive amount of time. Btw. I said the model is sturdy. It's really easy to handle if you grab it at the side, left or right or both sides of the seat. But some of the bricks in front of the air intakes are not securely built, and the rear wing can come of too. But not really that bad. Front
  8. That sub is really really nice. Like your red-black truck too. Moc-away Front
  9. Allow me to interrupt with a picture of Lewa Nuva and his Axalara T9. Front
  10. Here are just a couple of more pictures. The F1 in side view. Here a comparison between the old F1 1:10 (8386) and the new F1 1:9: Front
  11. Thank you Sinner. Yes, licensed sets does seem more expensive pr. brick than usual sets. I forgot to mention: 1: The set is 525 mm long 2: during my disassembly, no bricks where harmed in any way Front Now there a question that indicated I should have added a photo of the stickers (have none right now). The sitcker sheet has both a big #5 and # 6 sticker. Also it comes with two sets of two smaller stickers (4 stickers in all), for each side of the cockpit, one with name Raikkonen and one with Massa. I guess that means that the true entusiast will buy two 8157 Front
  12. Here is a quick review of the new Ferrari F1 1:9, 8157. This is in my opinion a great set, that will look really good on display in all homes of Ferrari and Lego fans. After the Ferrari FXX, #8156, this must be the 2nd Lego set of a Ferrari that is mostly a System build, and not Technic. In size though, it compares well with the earlier Lego F1 sets at scales 1:8 and the older 1:10. But this is not a technic set (although some parts obviously are Technic), and this means a bit less functionality, but a whole lot of more looks. I really think the set captures the true essence of a Ferrari F1, with all the strange fairing bits found on these cars now a days. The set does not have that "look-through" feeling that some might get, when looking at the Technic-F1 sets, but more looks like a "real" car. The completed car without stickers. Sorry for not adding the stickers, i'm sure they would have made it look even better. I hope I've got the colours of the car close to the real thing in my pictures, although the red does not look perfect. On the box there is a picture of what looks like Raikkonen in a F1, and on the back I can see the yellow helmet of Massa. I think this means that this set is of a 2007 F1. The building instructions are split up in two books, the bags inside the box are numbered (for faster building), and the set contains 997 pieces, all shown in the usual list in the last building-book. The functionality of the set: 1: the nose of the car can be detached, for faster pit stops after chrashing into barriers at Monaco 2: rear view mirrors can be adjusted. 3: all wheels spin 4: front wheels turn when the steering wheel in front of the driver seat is turned. 5: multiple pieces of "aerodynamic" fairings can be adjusted. Here is a look at the nose and a wheel detached. The building of this set is straight foreward, at least in my opinion. You start out with the nose, then make the bottom of the car with plates etc. and then just build more bricks on top (more or less). At no point did the sub-assemblies feel fragile or anything (opposed to the Batman UC set from was it 2006 ?). The rear of the F1, partly disassemblied. The rear wing, a rear wheel and the center fairing above the engine is taken off the set. Here the left hand side of the car is "opened" so that the building structure and the stearing shaft is visible. The bottom of the car, during my "taking apart" and photographing sequence. Here I've ended up with a pile of bricks, not sure they all are in the picture though. Ok, this concluded my quick photoreview of the new F1 1:9 Ferrari. Now you may ask, was this the first inverse-building review you have seen. And what was the reason for me to do so ? Well, the answer is that I forgot to take pictures while building. Maybe I haven't spoiled all the fun and surprised that may be had during your own building experience. I look foreward to building this set again, putting stickers on it, and placing it next to my Technic Ferrari's. cheers Front
  13. I really like this build too. I think the deer will run away when it's turned on. Must be quite noisy when running, with all the balls jumping around. Front
  14. Surely the orange mask, the blue windshield and the head inside, are three seperate things. And you make a good point about using this piece for other mocs than Bionicle. I do understand that some feel they hate Technic used in normal System sets, but understand that to enable advanced movements and/or sturdy sets, some technic elements can be used. In some cases that is the only way. Myself, I love the use of different types of elements, like in Exo-Force. It does not mather if an elements is a system, technic or special Bionicle element, the really cool thing is that they all comply to the Lego building standards, which means that all elements can be used together. Front
  15. just awesome. What I understand is that the map you rebuilt is from the videogame Halo 3 ? Well got the answer now :-) Front btw. can we have instructions posted
  16. Good effort making these movies. Both videos has the small problem that the scene itself (or camera) moves slightly between some of the frames. It would be better if you could control that better in future videos. In the second video, I think there should be a short pause between the fading in and fading out to black, so that we get to see the characters for a short while, where no fading occurs. Saw some of your other Lego videos too Front
  17. Hi all, here's another one: Don't you like my new ambulance, nice blue lights me thinks. Well technically it's not mine, but do I care ?
  18. It's a meeting room in Billund :-) The temperature is usually fine there according to my memory. I must say that's a nice collection of motocross bikes the employe is displaying. Building technic is such a specialist dicipline, I think it takes a lot of patience to finalize the design of a model, even such a relative simpel one as this "cute" bike. Front
  19. I'm stuck at level 8 too Hmm, was asked before that level to not get confused. For me that was the first level without an obvious path to follow. Front
  20. Very much indeed. But I think it's a price thing, as all those segments must be more expensive than a single piece of rubber. If you have some of those belt things you should try and use them in a future moc. I've got some ideas developing in my head, but I'm not really ready to put something together yet. Beat me to it Front
  21. The Batwing is in my opinion the best designed Batman set. The wing just look great and has some nice play-features and an awesome stand/launch pad. The Joker chopper included are just a nice extra item, same quality as the rest of the sets. Not to say that the chopper is bad, I think all sets are nice indeed. Don't know the dragster set though, but for the prize it costs it can hardly be a bad set. Could be worth it for the cat-woman alone. Front
  22. I think the green motocross bike looks great. I like the use of fairings on this bike. The only thing I really don't like about the Technics bikes in general, is the "clumsy" design of the chaindrive. It sticks way to much out to the side. If they made a really big bike model, it would be more in place with this chain drive. I'm not sure if it wouldn't be possible to design a shaft drive to the rear wheel, ala BMW style. But the green "Kawasaki" look great with the front and rear suspension. I have the Street Bike, 8420, a somewhat larger and more complicated set, and will probably add the motocross bike to my collection soon. It would be great if Lego could make a line of bikes, like they do the Ferrari line. Front
  23. This looks like a great build. The tank was the first Exo of mine to get taken apart. The structure is just to weak to hold the belts in a fixed position, so when trying to drive the set, there is way to much flexing. A couple of weeks ago I gathered the parts from the set, wanting to do some moc. I ended up bulding the official alternate. It looks good, but is really not sturdy, as the outer belts tend to fall off (actually the wheels holding the outer belt). But it's fun to see this moc of yours, as I before building the alternate, actually thought of a possible mech with belts as legs/feets. Front
  24. I don't know the program, but you might have set your pc screen too dark. To lighten the darks on your screen, you best adjust the gamma value. That should be a setting in your video card control panel.
  25. Wow, just watched the Descent II intro. So many things I remember from that intro, the voices, scenes etc. I remember trying out Descent III demo maybe 6 years ago (long after playing I and II), and it was like there was not the feel in the aircraft like in I and II. So I actually never got to play it. Would love to find I or II somewhere,
