Yes, I thought purple trees would make sense in an icy world, but they do stand out Thanks for the comments. I hadn't thought of Zam Wessel's speeder at all, I guess my brain tends to block most Prequel-related stuff, but you're right, it does look a little similar. I guess that's mostly because of the antennas, which for me were a last-minute addition, as I hadn't planned on having those on the ship. With the prongs I thought it looked kinda Vic Viper-ish, but missing the wings and fin.

Great ship, I've always liked the grey tones and dark red combination, and it works very nice here too. It feels very Star Wars-y to me too.

Very cool build!. It has a Mario Kart feel to it, and it would be a great version.

From the upcoming sets, the figures seem more interesting than the vehicles.

Great landscape, I love how the sand looks. And the speeder is very nice too.

Here's my entry, small category: The Pincer in Kaldahan
-
The Pincer in Kaldahan Wary of the conflict to come, Princess Leia and the Resistance have established some outposts throughout the galaxy, to serve as bases and possible refuges in case of need. One such outpost is in the planet Kaldahan, whose absence of a sentient species makes it a good place for hiding. While searching for a viable location the Resistance came upon an abandoned mercenary hideout and, mindful of their limited resources, decided to set up shop there, even leaving the existing banners to help camouflage the base from any prying eyes. Princess Leia, remembering her days in Hoth, decided to import some Tauntauns to use as a transportation means in the snowy forests of the planet. In the scene, Admiral Ackbar watches as Poe Dameron prepares to test the new starfighter prototype, nicknamed the Pincer for its peculiar shape. The ship carries a 3-disruptor array in each of its prongs, whose purpose is to open a small hole in deflector shields long enough for the ship to pass through. View from the back Communications equipment Base interior (it has illumination, though it's very dim) View from above, where Poe Dameron comes to grips with the completely enclosed Pincer cockpit. It was designed that way to better protect the pilot from the disruption charges of the ship. This event happened shortly before the events in TFA, where the Pincer would have been very useful, had it been fully operational and tested at the time. Base size: 24x40. There is some slight overhang from the trees and radar, but the ship itself fits within the base, even slightly unaligned as shown. Note: According to Wookiepedia, Kaldahan is a planet that appeared in a French Star Wars RPG, and it's supposed to have icy forests and be uninhabited other than by wild beasts.

Great to see a contest again in this forum! Any rules regarding overhang on the Small category?

Finally managed to get Poe's X-Wing (75102), and also got the Micro-Ghost (75127).

So much attention lately hehe. I'm glad you like it, thanks for the comments!

Just got the Galactic Empire Battle Pack. Not a big fan of the oil-stained Storm Troopers, but I like the other figs and it has good parts.

Wow, this looks great! Macross is my favorite anime and I've always thought there aren't nearly enough Macross MOCs.

I'll be getting at least one of these. I like those new helmets a lot, mustache head is cool, and the pieces of the speeder are decent.

Found the Flash Speeder on sale :)

Wow! The dinosaur set is great, very generous. How about splitting the dinos and spread them among a few extra winners? (yes, I haven't won yet...)

REVIEW: 71011 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15
naugem replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think I'm only interested in the winged warrior. Maybe the grom knight and the tribal woman. -
The most recent one was Rey's Speeder. I hope next to get my hands on the pumpkin X-Wing.

Not my ideal tree, but the ideal tree of my two little girls.

Thanks! If you're asking me, I usually need to start with a key idea, and then grow the build from that, and do several iterations of fine tuning. This ship in particular was based on an existing model, so I took what I considered the key elements and thought how I could put them thogether. The key section for me was the "shoulders", where the cannons are mounted. I tried that first and liked it, then I thought that I could extend them all the way to the back and align them with the wings, and from there the ship took form.
