1. First find out if there are legitimate reasons behind their upsetness (is that a word?) and see if they do have a right to be upset about a set. If not: 2. Use the same 'end of production' date and don't budge from that; if necessary they could provide the date outright when the complaints are first brought up if that's what you think is the right thing to do. At the very least, TLG made the right decision to smooth over the ruffled feathers in that meeting even though the TCA exaggerated the issue and 'similarities'. I think that the same method would work in the future if this sort of situation occurred again.
-
Because, if I'm not mistaken, the whole issue was that the TCA wanted an immediate end to the production of Jabba's Palace. Just speculating here but I assume in the meeting TLG brought up the 2014 date and that the TCA was satisfied with that. The 2014 date probably wasn't originally brought up in January because the whole issue was around whether to stop the set immediately at that time. Regardless, on the whole I agree with your stance in that hopefully future sets won't be hampered by what happened here.

Well hopefully they do; I still haven't picked up the Mirkwood Elf Guard one, and I wanna get a Tonto minifigure without having to spend upwards of 20 bucks on the Comanche Camp (not that it's a bad set, I'm just running low on allowance as it is).

I usually plug my earbuds in or like everyone else have some show or sports game playing to multitask, which sometimes causes me to miss steps but oh well. Occasionally for certain licensed sets (eg. LOTR, Batman) I have the movie from which the set was based on playing just to compare it to the source material or for kicks.

Did a Google search and apparently he voiced somebody called Lok Durd: http://trekmovie.com/2008/12/15/george-takei-to-voice-character-in-star-wars-the-clone-wars/ Haven't watched the show much so I have no idea who that is.

No, I meant...the other thing... Never mind. In any case it would've been cool if he was actually in.

So basically TLG managed to convince the critics to be satisfied with the 2014 deadline? In that case, I have why the TCA is claiming victory since in the long run nothing actually changed in regards to the set...

Did you see not see the end of my post?

....Since now I find myself confused with everything you just said and all the other points that have been flying around, am I right in saying that the TCA wanted the production of Jabba's Palace to cease immediately and after meeting them TLG reiterated that set production would cease at the end of 2013 but for factors not relating to the criticism? If all that is true, then I'm not sure your protesting will be able to convince TLG otherwise. As the TLG representatives told RT news the date to end production 'has nothing to do with criticism with the TCA', so in the end it wasn't affected at all.
-
No, and I never said they should be able to; unfortunately, religion tends to be a rather touchy subject in today's society so I can understand TLG being sensitive about this. Plus, like Clanure said a couple posts ago, the decision made to stop producing the set in response to the criticism doesn't affect TLG's overall plans for Jabba's Palace anyway: EDIT: Sorry, fixed a spelling error.

That's the point though; Lego is so universally known around the world that just banning the sets in Turkey wouldn't satisfy those being critical. The set would continue to be distributed elsewhere so in the eyes of the Muslim community the problem wouldn't have really gone away (again, I'm speaking from a hypothetical and neutral perspective). I'm sure they were speaking in the short-term, since after a few years or so Jabba's Palace would be discontinued like any other set. According to an article I read (http://rt.com/news/jabba-lego-anti-islamic-138/), the protesters wanted production to cease this year/almost immediately. See article I linked to.

Even with its nuclear program, North Korea probably already realizes the US, South Korea, and hopefully China as well would hit Pyongyang almost immediately in retaliation. All this talk by NK is trying to bring attention to themselves, or Kim Jong-Un trying to look tough. Here's a quote from that BBC article posted above: At this point the UN should keep an eye out but for the most part just ignore them and keep the sanctions on. EDIT: Sorry, meant to say 'Kim Jong-Un trying to look tough'

I don't suppose you've taken other factors into consideration such as production costs and maybe preparations for a new wave of sets based on Episode VII, or the fact (I'm personally neutral on this matter) that the Muslim community is actually offended by the set?

What about the Canadians? :o In any case this is pretty good for April Fool's, you had me sitting at my laptop thinking 'wat' for a couple seconds when I first pulled up the forums. -
The poster they're offering for April looks pretty enticing; plus I haven't really gotten many Chima sets so time to save up for one of those.

Welcome to Eurobricks! P.S. I was sorry to see Miami get knocked out by Marquette if you've been following March Madness :p

Battle: Los Angeles. Typical 'sci-fi-military' movie, but with great acting from Two-Face Aaron Eckhart.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Leo604 replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
You mean other than the ones we already know about? I'm sure we'll probably get some in January 2013 based on Thor 2; probably nothing for X-Men until DOFP comes out (I doubt TLG would spend much money on sets for The Wolverine since it's basically testosterone/Jackman-fest). -
MOC is great, especially how you built so that the Hobbits could actually fit beneath the tree/ground.
