  1. He didn't mod any of the pieces, just mixed and matched existing ones I believe. That shield is the new CMF Forest Maiden one and only comes in green/brown. As for the minifigures, they look great! My only suggestion would be change the lighting if possible, as is your pictures are giving off a blue tint to the figures when they are really more of a gray like in Kyle's picture.
  2. Totally agree there. All they needed to do was add some paint to his braids/beads like Bifur and he would of been significantly better. As is he looks unfinished.
  3. Hey Eurolock, you mentioned in another Helm's Deep MOC thread you had made some additions to your own MOC. Any chance we will be seeing some updates in the near future?
  4. I totally agree. While another Pippin, Merry, Theoden, etc. would be nice, I could easily do without them. Especially if it reduces the price of the set (which is probably going to be pretty high as is). I mean I really don't need or want any more Uruk-hai or Aragorn's, we already have them in plenty of other sets. I would rather Lego just include the necessities. Saruman and Grima would be all I really want, Grima especially since he may not ever have a chance to appear in a set again...
  5. I remember getting a number of these sets when I was younger and always wondering why the Indians have noses but most (all?) the other minifigures do not.
  6. Ya, I use to see them regularly discounted to around $25 at Toys R Us or Amazon but I haven't seen any such sale in at least a few months for the Uruk-hai Army set.
  7. The online casino game is singled out, but it mentions other breaches of contract (though does not specify any others). I could of sworn I heard a few months ago the game was cited as one of the breaches, though I may be mistaken. Regardless Lego has a license with WB to make sets based on the movie, not Tolkien Estate to make them based on the book so if it's not in the movie we will not see it in Lego form.
  8. Also Warner Brothers (the ones who published the video game) were sued by Tolkien Estate for 80 million in Novemeber 2012. There were a number of reasons listed, but I am sure the Lego video game having parts strictly from the book didn't help matters.
  9. Totally supported that. It should have 10,000 votes by the end of this weekend
  10. They still have that price difference, it's just that you usually can get them on sale somewhere. Loot at the Hobbit. The DVD version is $28.99 MSRP and the Blu-Ray combo pack is $35.99. Amazon has them for an 8 dollar difference with their reduced prices. Right now Game of Thrones season 2 is only a 5 dollar difference on Amazon, but the MSRP difference is $20.
  11. Well considering I have hundreds of DVDs, I don't really feel like upgrading them all to Blu-Ray as that would cost thousands upon thousands of dollars. Not only that, most new Blu-Ray films run around 10 dollars more than the DVD counterpart. That is a pretty significant amount when you consider a DVD is only 15 bucks anyways. That's almost a 100% increase in price. Also Blu-Ray was in under 30% of U.S. households by the end of 2012 so no, "everybody in the U.S." doe NOT have Blu-Ray. Far from it in fact. It seems most people don't find the rather heavy price worth the slightly increased quality. That and a lot of people stream videos from providers like Netflix and Amazon now.
  12. Ya, that is really lame. It appears to be a Target exclusive as no other retailer with the pre-order is showing the minifigure, only Target is. At any rate I would of rather seen this in a complete Hobbit set after all three movies are released, or at the very least in the extended editions version.
  13. Ya I forgot you don't need Helm's Deep to complete it, my bad. For some reason I always think Legolas is only in Helm's Deep, not Mines of Moria. Still, 173 is quite a chunk of change and like Flieger points out the Hobbit line is much worse since you literally need every one of the 6 sets in the first wave to complete Thorin's company. As for Orthanc minifigures, I would assume Grima and Saruman are pretty much givens if it actually does include any figs at all. I don't think we will see anymore Uruk-hai and I hope we don't since they were available already in fairly large numbers in the first wave. I wouldn't mind another worker orc or two and Treebeard and another Ent. Some Wild Men would be nice but I have a feeling our chances of seeing them are zilch to none. Of course if we get Ents we will also need Pippin and Merry so I really am not sure how it will pan out. On the one hand I feel it will be a USC set with few or no figures and just the tower since it has so few possible play features and seems to be a perfect USC model. On the other hand I feel like it may have the Ents and have tons of fun little features and minifigs.
  14. Some think we might get a Sauron minifig with a Lego book or some other promo. Sauron is the main evil in LotR so I find it hard to believe they won't make him at all, though he is never actually shown in the films except in the flashbacks so for that reason alone it might be hard to put him in a set.
  15. Right, which is why I think they should offer the main characters once or twice per wave, and at varying price points. It's kind of dumb some figures so far like Gimli have only been available in $80+ dollar sets. This second LotR wave is a better example spreading him out in an expensive and fairly non expensive set. I also think they should limit each main character to one or two per wave and try to make them have different prints when possible. We will have 2 LotR waves this summer and already have 4 of some characters which is kind of lame (11 total sets excluding polys and 4 of some characters means they are in over a third of the sets). Regardless I think it's a little hypocritical of Lego. They try to offer the main characters in multiple sets to give people on a budget options, yet to get the entire Fellowship you literally need to buy EVERY set from the first LotR wave except the Orc Forge, Uruk-hai Army, and Gandalf Arrives if you buy the Gandalf polybag. That's almost $300 MSRP to get the entire Fellowship.
  16. I am fine getting the main characters once or twice per wave and at different price points so people who won't buy every set have some options. It just starts to suck when you have 3-4 of certain characters because there isn't any real use for them. Sure you can maybe use some parts like the torsos or whatever for something else, but most people would much rather see extra undead or orcs replacing the tenth Gimli or Bilbo or what have you. You know, something you actually WANT multiples of.
  17. I'm really liking that lava, and especially the eagle! The arms as eyebrows and the beak are great and give's it a terrific expression. I also REALLY like the way you did it's feathers! This eagle looks better than the molded one from the Black Gates set and the Creator eagle combined! Kudos!
  18. Are you talking about Orthanc, or Sauron's tower Barad-dur with the eye? It seems like the ladder since THAT tower is extremely memorable for kids and non-hardcore fans of the movie, what with it always being shown and the huge eye at the top. Orthanc is pretty lean so I don't see how Lego could fit an interior in after they shrink it down. The fact it's fairly boring inside doesn't help matters. I mean they already have the Wizard Duel and palantir eye as a separate set, what else is there to make inside that is shown in the movies? I have a feeling Lego will treat Orthanc more like a model and just do the exterior without any interior. It's already going to require a fair number of bricks to be as tall as it should be anyways. I definitely don't see the Wizard Duel set fitting inside since it's a fairly long set. If they DO do an interior, it will probably be like sets such as Arkham Asylum where it's a flat wall and a couple;e studs for floor and barely has anything but a chair or desk or something boring.
  19. Right, that is definitely a HUGE factor too, if not the main factor the Corsair Ship was made into a set. I was just responding to his point that the ship set was made despite it having limited film time. I think another indication we won't see ponies is we still have not seen any new molds for swords like Glamdring, Orcrist, etc. These have a bigger role than the ponies and would be easier to mold than a whole pony but we still haven't seen any of the unique swords except Sting for the same reasons no doubt. They would barely be noticeable differences and aren't important enough to warrant a new expensive mold for.
  20. That's a bit different though. Aragorn and the undead coming off the pirate ship were the turning point in the battle. It's a pivotal moment. I think we all expected the undead oathbreakers in Lego form sooner or later, just not so soon before some of the other major scenes or possible sets like Minas Tirith and the Balrog were made. The hobbit and dwarf ponies on the other hand have no major scenes, are only in the films a short time, and are barely different than the current horse mold we have. Plus Lego would have to do a totally new mold which is very expensive, much more so than parts in different color and new minifig prints. Because of all this I don't see a new pony very likely at all.
  21. Very nice! I am really digging all the strings on the ground too, it really helps add to the atmosphere and feel like spider webbing.
  22. If you are trying to make it look like ice, maybe do blue tiles under the clear ones? If it's just snow why not use normal white plates without the clear ones on top?
  23. I am still a little skeptical. I mean if they did that, couldn't Star Wars actually be perceived as doing worse in some cases due to the larger amount of sets released each year? For instance LotR only had one set that was remotely an army builder, the Uruk-hai Army. I bought that set a ton. Star Wars on the other hand has several battle packs out this year so maybe the Star Wars fans split their purchases between them, or buy one more than the other (I know they arn't the same price point, I am just using it as an example). Also the sheer amount of sets released for the Star Wars each year makes it harder to buy every last one for younger children I imagine. Nope, I don't really follow Ninjago, is this post confirmed? It just seems weird to me Lego would announce they are ending the Ninjago line and replacing it with Chima, then bringing Ninjago back not even a year later later and before they have even seen the sales of Chima.
  24. Right, there are plenty of structures and siege weapons they could include in a LotR/Hobbit battle pack if they wanted. I mean they may not be the most interesting ever but that's not really why people buy the battle packs anyways. Just look at the Star Wars ones, most of the ships and guns in them are pretty boring and I doubt very many people really care about them (I know lots of people who sell off the ships and guns and just keep the minifigures from the BPs).
