Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
JeanGreyForever replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm actually hoping Rogue is brought back into the X-Mansion now, at least if there's a chance she'll be upgraded. I'm not expecting a more accurate hairpiece for her but if we could get a version with dual molded legs and maybe better yellow printing on the torso, I'd be happy. Similarly, I'd like to see Cyclops used again so we can get actual leg printing and yellow hips. However, if Morph is included, his legs could feature the yellow hips and leg printing, in which case reusing Cyclops wouldn't be as necessary. It would just take a duplicate copy of Morph's legs to fix Cyclops. I know people want Magneto in his classic red and purple costume and it would be nice to get dual molded legs in a new version of that. But tbh, I'm really disappointed with his X-Jet figure and would like an upgraded version of that too. Currently, his hair is way too long and inaccurate. The Last Jedi Luke/Loki's hairpiece in white would have been perfect for Magneto. Also his costume in the show is a dark purple with a lot of black highlights, not a bright magenta. And he should have dual molded arms as well to replicate his opera-length gloves. So if any of these X-Jet characters were used again but upgraded/fixed, I wouldn't be unhappy, even at the cost of maybe new characters. As for Bishop, I agree the CMF wrestler hair would be perfect. Since that likely won't happen, I would recommend using two hairpieces from the Hobbit sets. Either Thorin's hair or Bard the Bowman's hair. Both replicate the mullet style and are most frequently used in custom Bishop figures. -

I don't even know if Xavier is a given. Maybe he'll be in a polybag. I feel only Jean, Gambit, and Jubilee are givens. Bishop is already out of the show so I can see them skipping them despite how prominent he was in merchandise and promotion. Nightcrawler is allegedly supposed to join the team eventually so he's probably more likely in future sets. -

The set designers did say that they were heavily pushing for Christopher Robin and wanted to include him. And that ultimately, the sheer number of new molds for the other characters didn't make it feasible to include Christopher Robin as well, which is why he didn't make it into the final set. So it seems like they're fine with adding new characters not in the original design if they can afford it. TNBC is somewhat lucky in this sense because Jack and Sally already exist. Lock, Shock, and Barrel are pretty popular in merchandise but the fact that they would all likely require new molds means they might be omitted. I fee like Santa might be skipped as well. He has a very particular figure in the movie and that won't be able to translate over into a blocky minifigure all that well. -

That makes sense considering the size and price of the final set. Only 3 minifigs would have seemed very underwhelming. I can see Santa Claus and/or Jack in his Sandy Claws outfit being omitted. And Oogie Boogie's popularity is also why I can't see him being snubbed. -

I think the only Disney set this year guaranteed to have minifigs is The Nightmare Before Christmas set. I'm curious about the minifig lineup for that because there are a lot and the Hocus Pocus set originally had a bunch too but the finalized design cut out several characters. I'm wondering if the same thing will happen to the Nightmare set. And popular characters like Oogie Boogie and the Mayor of Halloweentown aren't even in the original set design. Has there ever been a case where a Lego Ideas set ended up featuring more minifigs than originally approved? -

Let's hope. I know there are two Lion King sets this year but let's hope we do get a second Sleeping Beauty set, whenever it comes out. It would be a shame to not get Prince Phillip. The minidoll set being less than half the piece count makes sense though. -

I can see that especially the Human Torch and even the Thing. Would love to see a Future Foundation set with Spider-Man in his Future Foundation costume and the Fantasticar. -

But the FF really aren't that popular anymore and I say this as someone who became a fan of Marvel because of them. Definitely not to the extent of Spider-Man and while even the X-Men have drastically declined in popularity since the 90s, they're still more well known and popular than the FF. There's a reason we got X-Men sets before the Disney ban whereas we never got any FF sets even back then. Only Doom was popular enough to show up, in a Spider-Man set of all places. None of the FF movies ever caught on (and I'm a huge fan of the first two) and they've had a few cartoons but those were never very popular either. They don't have the same presence in pop culture that the X-Men do. Their peak was the 1960s and they've never really regained that status since. The Incredibles are better known now than the FF. -

The torso will probably also have curves to represent a female body. Maybe cleavage lines as well. I don't think it would be so easy as removing the hair (assuming this female Surfer isn't bald) to convert her to the classic Silver Surfer. I'd love for more comic accurate FF (and Marvel in general) sets but I feel like if we've barely gotten any comic accurate Avengers sets, even though the Avengers are a proven property, it's really unlikely we'll see comic accurate FF sets anytime soon. Even that would likely hinge on how well the FF sets for the movie sell and there's a lot of very angry people right now because of the Silver Surfer backlash. People say these types of castings never reflect on the actual box office but The Marvels has shown that this isn't always the case and the goodwill people had for Marvel in years past has evaporated now with their last few movies. I feel like The Marvels was just the beginning for Thunderbolts, Captain America 4 (which the Internet is calling Captain Falcon), and now the FF. One piece of good news for more comic inspired Marvel sets is that there are images and scenes circulating online of X-Men '97 featuring Storm in her 70s debut classic costume. I don't know if this is a flashback or a costume change but there are rumors the X-Men might get new costumes in the show so if that does end up happening, maybe future X-Men sets could feature their classic comic outfits from before the 90s. X-Men and Spider-Man might be our best bets for comic sets now. -

This is disappointing. Yeah, I'd rather they not waste a slot on "Silver Surfer" so instead we can see another FF character represented. And I don't know why they couldn't just use Frankie Raye especially since FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer featured her and was clearly planning on doing more with her. This MCU version could have finally done something with Frankie. I like that hairpiece for her as well especially for her as Phoenix. It's the 70s Farrah Fawcett hair she sported back then. -

Making my weekly X-Men post after the new episode airs, I'm curious what hairstyle Jean will get in the X-Mansion. It looks like she's reverted back to the ponytail in the show. I hope Lego goes with the long, flowing hair. -

This is my thinking on why they opted for minidolls. It's not a classic Disney/Pixar property like The Incredibles or Toy Story. It's still less than a decade old so there's not much nostalgia for it where young adults who grew up with it as children would want to buy it as a collectors item. Also this sequel is centered around a teenage girl dealing with puberty. Most of the central emotions are female as well. Lego must have felt that this film and potential sets would have the most appeal for young girls in the tween/teen age, in which case, the demographic overlaps with the Friends line and minidolls are the choice for that particular demographic. In other words, Lego feels this is a newer property so its being geared towards kids rather than young adults relying on nostalgia. But the comments I'm seeing online are just as confused about the actual set content beyond just the minidolls. Many are saying it looks like a shelfwarmer. -

Definitely not interested in minidolls. I'm not really an Inside Out fan anyway so this doesn't bother me. However, the set itself doesn't look very appealing. I can't imagine this will be a bestseller with children. -

That's true, I can't complain there. I'm so used to Playstation exclusives that I think it shocked me that this one was an XBOX one because I didn't even realize there were still XBOX exclusives. -

There are rumors about Silver Surfer in the FF movie. If we only got one FF set, I can't imagine it would feature all four characters, HERBIE, the villain, plus the Surfer. -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Was interested in this until I saw that it isn't even coming out on the PS5. It's exclusive to XBOX and the PC. But sadly, video games rarely ever get Lego sets. Star Wars is the exception. Even Hogwarts Legacy, the best-selling game of last year, hasn't gotten any sets so I doubt Indiana Jones would considering the film flopped and the franchise is dead. -

Many have said on here that the X-Mansion uses outdated building techniques common in the early 2010s. It doesn't look like a modern-day style set at all. I'd expect something far closer to the Home Alone set now. It's like looking at the scrapped Malfoy Manor set from the Harry Potter wave in the late 2000s/early 2010s and expecting to see that exact model recreated today in a new set. There's a world of difference between the sets back then versus today. Mystique was never naked in the comics. That scaly naked look is purely from the movies, and another indication that the original design is based off of an earlier X-Men era inspired by the movies and the contemporary comics of the 2010s. In the comics and show, she's always worn clothing, namely her white dress with skull belt. She hasn't even been relevant in this show so far or part of any merchandise. You're answering your own questions. The reason Wolverine, Storm, and Magneto minifigs weren't depicted as their current minifigs is because that design was created years before those minifigs even existed. Lego is not going to go out of their way to create new Wolverine or Storm minifigs when they can reuse the CMF ones they already have. For Wolverine, they might not even reuse the CMF figure but probably will take the less detailed version from the X-Jet. If we're lucky, Magneto could come in his classic red and purple costume since he appears in the show wearing that but even that might be wishful thinking. If Magneto is in the set, it could very easily be the X-Jet minifigure again. Also, if Xavier is in the X-Mansion set, there's no way it won't be the hoverchair version. The hoverchair Xavier would have been considered a relic in the early 2010s and very outdated. Now, especially with people asking for his minifigure after Multiverse of Madness, it wouldn't make sense for him to not be his 90s incarnation with the green suit and yellow hoverchair. -

The latest episode of X-Men '97 makes me wonder if they could get away with excluding Bishop in the mansion set. If we do get his minifigure, I'll definitely be swapping out the cropped hair for his original long hair he sported in the 90s. -

That set was probably designed a decade ago and has no relevance today. The reason we're getting X-Men sets again is to tie-into the new cartoon. This cartoon wasn't even in existence when that original preliminary set must have been designed. It has to be older than 2014 because that's when the X-Men/FF ban came into play when Marvel stopped making their merchandise. It would have been something designed in the years before that when Lego still could make X-Men sets. That set with its minifigure choices is about as likely to come into existence as that Temple of Doom set that never saw the light of die. All the X-Men merchandise coming out right now is based on X-Men '97. Same with the Lego X-Men merch we've gotten so far which all comes from the show or 90s era. It's safe to say the new mansion set will be based on the show and 90s era as well. Follow-up sets will likely be based on whatever the rest of this first season will contain since there won't be any problem with spoilers then. I'm also assuming Marvel might be waiting to see how these sets sell to even see if it's worth making more. Based on the comments I'm reading here about how the X-Jet is selling (or not selling), I don't think follow-up sets are even guaranteed. Marvel is entering DC territory where every new project is not guaranteed to get sets. -

Nightcrawler I'm hoping could pop up in future sets. Since he's supposed to join the team this season and will presumably be more heavily marketed for S2. As for which costume we get Magneto in, tbh I wouldn't be against a redo of his purple big M costume. I'm not a fan of his X-Jet minifigure. The purple of his costume in the show is very dark but his minifig is a super bright shade. And the hair is way too long and straight. -
How cute! Remarkably well done. Love to see some Roger Rabbit love.

I mean I would love 20 or so characters with the X-Men, villains, and supporting characters like Moira MacTaggert and Forge all in this set. But unfortunately that's not going to happen. For the same reason the Disney castle originally came out with only 5 figures despite thousands of Disney characters existing. The Avengers Tower and Daily Bugle were able to feature so many characters because most of them already existed as minifigs. Also why the Death Star set could feature about 24-25 minifigs because the vast majority of them already existed. It's easy to reuse what already exists, much more time and money to create new figures. With the X-Men, there aren't many minifigs that already exist so that's why everyone's expectations were lower. Think also of the new Batman skyline set based on the 90s show. They could have gone the route of including every major character from the show in their animated look but they only picked four characters. It's not ideal but unfortunately it's how Lego works. -

10 sounds about right. I still think Morph will make it in. Possibly Bishop as well especially if they skip Xavier and maybe one of the already pre-existing figures like Rogue. This was never going to be packed like the Daily Bugle or Avengers Tower.
