Zark vs. Mercenary Viking Berserker - Damage 5 Damage taken Siercon vs. Mercenary Viking Berserker - Hit (WP:8 + level 5) = 13 Damage done + Sleep) The battle starts on a wrong foot. For the heroes, at least. Lycan doesn't manage to hit his target and instead the Viking decides to have a drink. Unfortunately for him, nothing happens! Zark moves in to fight the Berserker and lunges forward. Despite appearing thick and being of heavy build, the surprisingly nimble Berserker simply sidesteps the Barbarian's attack and counterattacks. With his heavy two-handed axe the Viking brute lands a heavy blow on Zark, dealing 5 Damage. Having discovered how to use the Sleep effect on his wand during the previous fight, Siercon decides to put the Lullaby Wand to good use and manages to hit the Berserker. Instantly, the giant falls on the ground with a heavy thud and is asleep. The Enemies: "Ah, that hit the spot!"   3. Eric stepped up. "Kid, this day started off really bad for me, so I'm in no mood for this crap. It's a free country, let's us pass or you'll get it. I'm sure your gramps here will agree with me. It's not like we want to destroy the place."
  4. The time of talk was over. Tensions rose as the party insulted the Vikings. Instead of trying to gain further information, they decided to settle the situations with blood. Roggivr spins around his blade and grins. The other Viking joins the brawl instantly. He knocks out the younger warrior and raises his great-axe in order to strike. PREPARE FOR BATTLE !   5. "We move on!" yelled Eric, raising his arm in the desired direction, as if he was leading an army to war. The Viking was still visibly annoyed by the rabbit's action earlier this morning.
  6. Eric felt a warm liquid running down his face. It smelled. He instantly woke up, witnessing a small rabbit hop off his face. In a split-second the Nord knew what was going on. His blood was boiling, filled with rage he jumped up and let out a mighty roar. He shouted tons of profanities, both in Nordic and Common. He gave chase to the little critter as long as he could, but it was to no avail. Angrily and with great pace he stepped back to the camping place. "Let's go" he snarled. He rubbed his face with his shirt. What a bad start of the day this was.
  7. Roggvir eyed Lycan very suspiciously. "Oh, really, have you now, pojke? To what end? Why would you meddle with affairs that are none of your concern?" The tall Nord then turned to Siercon, still wary of Lycan. "What the boy did is none of your concerns, frankly. Let's just say his actions were on the verge of sacrilege. This whole job is on the verge of blasphemy, I say. Mother Helvetia protect us rom this madness!" The Nord then took a more stern and severe posture. He nodded towards the party. His eyes burned in the torch's light. "You haven't answered my previous question yet. You mentioned 'Oroborus', what do you know of them?"
  8. "At least I'm man enough to hold my drink, old coot!" the Nord snarled. Eric sat down in the grass. If he had a Bedroll, he would've unrolled it, but unfortunately he sold it some time ago to buy more Mead. It seemed that this meant Eric was going to spend his night out in the open once more. He could take it. He was tough enough to sleep outside on the cold ground. Eric couldn't quite catch his sleep, though. The Brew had granted him renewed energy and vigour. He felt stronger than ever before.
  9. Actually, he's right, I am using Swedish* for the vikings . I don't really care, though. It's a fantasy world, it doesn't have to be correct. I just want to give the players a foreign vibe from these guys, it doesn't really matter that much in my eyes what language they're speaking, as long as it looks vaguely Nordic, it's fine by me . Don't feel obliged to use it, though. As I've said in the quest, the important bits will be in plain English. The Swedish/whatever is just there for fun and credibility. Also I used Swedish, not Norwegian, so I think Lycan kind of got a mistranslation. The full sentence would've read "Är jag den enda som bryr sig om reglerna", which translates to "Am I the only one who cares about the rules?". But the heroes only heard the last part of that sentence . * I use Google translate Swedish, so want to apologize to all native speakers for any mistakes. They're Google's mistakes, I don't actively speak Swedish . EDIT: Awesome!
  10. QM Note: I only added in some sentences to give a northern vibe to the "conversation" and to make clear to the party that these people are vikings. It's up to you if you think your character can understand them or not . You're not missing much if you decide your character can't understand the viking tongue, the important stuff will be in plain English. The Nord holding the torch turned around as he noticed the party. He grinned at Siercon's weak attempt at conversation. Gripping the hilt of his sword tightly, he stepped closer to the party. The man was definitely a Nord. If his accent and tongue hadn't been a dead giveaway earlier, his tall and brawny build gave it away now. A bushy beard circled the proud warrior's mouth. He raised his torch to catch a better glimpse of the party. "Hur, hur, hur! Främlingar! Of course I can speak Common. By Wartan's wisdom, Roggvir is no ignorant fool! What is your purpose here?" the viking warrior snarled. Before Siercon the Mage could answer the question, Lycan intervened. The mail-clad viking raised one of his bushy eyebrows in response to the Rogue question. "A nice try, varg, but ultimately futile as I have proven myself more than capable of fluent conversation in your Speech. Again, what is your purpose here? What do you know of Oroborus and what do you intend on helping us with?" In the back of the cavern, the heroes could see the furry-hatted Nord briefly break free of the savage one's custody. To no avail, however, as the man was quickly pushed back into the corner by the brute. "Help!" "Stänga, mask!"
  11. Eric took a quick look at what the doctor had to offer. The Nord then took both brews in his hand for closer examination. Uncorking them, he sniffed to catch the scent of what was inside. Confident in his choice, Eric went with Stickleback Brew. He put away the brew and prepared to get going.
  12. The party headed left. They entered a long, low-ceiled tunnel. They had barely started to make some progress as voices echoed down the tunnel. As the party crept closer, the voices became more distinct and the heroes could make out what was being said. "- ... enda som bryr sig om reglerna?! -" However, the heroes didn't understand a word of what was being said. It was clear, though, that vikings were nearby. Eager for more information on the doctor's whereabouts, the heroes slowly came closer. Carefully they peeked around the corner and saw a group of three Norsemen. Apparently, they were having some sort of discussion. The Norse way, arms at the ready. What will the party do?
  13. QM Note: "OoC: it's ok that we take both paths right? or does "which path does the party take" mean we have to go as a group?" I did first plan on keeping the group together and not split up the party, but if you really want to split up, there's nothing much I can do about it really . However, in all honesty, I wouldn't suggest splitting up . It's up to you, of course .

From there we travel to Shelbric and finally we go see the Power Tree orchards." He turned to the old monk Pretzel. "Will you be able to keep up with our speed, old man?"

If they wished to unravel this mystery, the party would have the search the bowels of the cavern. As their eyes adjusted to the darkness, the heroes slowly pushed forward. Bodies were strewn to their left and to their right. Bodies of both Viking and Werewolf warriors, often maimed and dismembered. Clamour of fighting could still be heard in the distance, alongside wails of the dying and the muffled cries of those being taken away. The heroes made progress slowly, for the cave was very dark and the paths, if there were any, were very rough. After a while, they came to a split. What path wil the party take?

Quickly, Siercon comes to his aid and attacks the fiend with his Lullaby Wand, putting it back into slumber mode. The Enemy: "Zzz..." Siercon, furious at seeing his friend go down, takes out the creature with a jab from his wand. THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS ! Everybody gains a level of Experience ! In fact, the same actions are performed as in the previous round of combat. Lycan sadly misses his attack, his second miss in a row. No doubt the fact he's fighting a kinsmen is affecting his fighting capabilities. Zark manages to land another hit, even though the Barbarian is still badly bloodied. Siercon finishes off this round with another Critical Hit of his wand, putting the wolf back to sleep. The Enemy: "Zzz..."   23. Because he's not just a Werewolf, he's a criminal Werewolf and Lycan is a 'heroic' Werewolf in his eyes. It's just like normal criminal Humans fighting heroic Humans. They don't want to get busted at what they're doing. That's just how I see it, though. Being part of the same race doesn't prevent fighting or issues, sadly .
