  1. Eric took his eyes of his adversaries and looked at Guts. "What utter load of nonsense is that? He owes you his life? What for? The guy doesn't owe you a damn thing." Angrily he sheathed his sword and threw his hands in the air. Eric shook his head and stepped away from the battle. Inside, he was torn. Stepping away from a fight is a coward's solution. Apparently, he seemed to have adapted one of the lowliest Southern fighting tactics during his stay in the "Free" City. Eric had abandonned his warband and thereby defied the leader's authority. It made him feel sick, but the Nord couldn't see any other option. He sternly looked at Nerwen and grimaced. "This city needs change and I refuse to participate in taking out its only hope any longer, despite your orders, Elf." There was no possibility of saving the situation any more, but at least Eric wouldn't have Reno's blood on his hands. This whole situation confused the Nord. Why couldn't the people in the South settle things in a normal way? Let both brothers fight to the death, the survivor inheriting the House. Right now, Eric loathed the South more than he had ever done before. But there wasn't anything he could do about it. The Nord threw one, rare, apologetic look at Reno and then stood idle and in silence, watching how the battle ended.
  2. I have no problem with you suggesting attacks, ChromeKnight. You're doing great . I'm glad you include my roleplaying-made character decisions into working out a strategy. Like you've said, I'd rather refrain from fighting Reno directly. Eric was getting too worked up in the fight to notice the hit he had taken. Some rings of his chainmail got shattered, but overall not much damage was done. With a sorry look Eric's eyes met those of Reno during the fight, but the Nord quickly looked aside and battered away at one of the Bonaparte soldiers. Eric attacks Cortez from the front row, using Godricsleif. Twice.
  3. Eric gritted his teeth. He hated to attack Reno and aid Nemo, but the party obviously saw things different. Not having much of a choice, Eric decided to attack the guards. Eric attacks Columbus from the front row, using Godricleif. Eric attacks Pizarro from the front row, using Godricleif.
  4. "If these islands would've been looted bare by now without you, that would've been because its people were too weak to defend it. If they can't protect their property themselves, it's only fit that they lose it to someone who's strong enough to take it. The weak perish at the hand of the stronger. That is how it is and that is how it was meant to be. Strength is power." Eric's grin turned to a vicious snarl. "I don't need to hear any more from this man. His protectionism, tolls and ideals sicken me. It's people like him that make the South the soft belly of the world it is."
  5. Aaargh, missed so much important stuff. Damn you, workload ! I also added in my replies to previous actions, only to give Eric's thoughts on the matters at hand. Eric snatched the belt from Nerwen's hands. "The belt's just fine." He then turned around and looked at the captive. The Nord's eyes widened as Nemo revealed his identity. Eric did not see this coming. He thought he would've been able to seperate both brothers, having met them before, but they were truly indistinguishable without the eyepatch. In terms of character, he did prefer the other brother, though. Reno seemed far less snobby and haughty when they had met. Nemo was acting like he owned his saviour's lives and that they actually owed him anything. He wanted them to risk their lives for some petty reward, while the chief Bonaparte would reap the true benefits of the endeavour and stay in power. Nothing would change and the waters around the Free City would still be ruled by a greedy dictator. Eric's face turned sour. No way he'd have any part in this. He made a deal with Reno. The Crystalline Sea would be free. Toppling the Bonapartes might prove reason enough for Eric's ban to be lifted and perhaps he would be able to sail home. What better way to take down these so-called "Lords of the Seas" than via political infighting and machinations? "Drastic changes are what is needed around here." Eric said. Confidently, he then spoke to Nerwen: "My sword is with Reno." Foreseeing things might turn into another fight, Eric proceeded to take in another effective mix of Mead, Smelling Salts and Nostrum.
  6. Eric rubs his eyes. "Argh, what foul witchery!" Despite being Blinded, he still tries to deal some damage and swings his blade in, what he believes is, his enemy's direction. Eric does nothing.
  7. Scubacarrot is right, I didn't take any Nostrum, only Mead and Smelling Salts, so I shouldn't be lucky. Eric repeated his attacks. Raising his greatsword high in the air, he prepared to cleave through his adversary. Eric attacks Sobeca from the front row, using Godricsleif, twice.
  8. The Nord smiled as the discussion turned to a brawl. Firmly gripping Godricleif, he leapt forward at Sobeca. Eric attacks Sobeca from the front row, using Godricsleif, twice.
  9. "That's Reno, alright. I say we turn these crocodiles in teeth necklaces and facy croc leather shoes." Eric unsheathed his sword, ready for battle if that were to happen. Before he didn't anything, though, he let Nerwen talk. Perhaps she would be able to difuse the situation without a fight. But then again, where's the fun in that?
  10. Eric had sailed across the world and had seen many cultures, but Chima was a place he had never visited before. The Nord was only able to make out some words of what these crocodiles were saying, but he couldn't grasp an overall message. Eric, too, nodded in agreement to the party leader's suggestion.
  11. Eric grinned and shrugged. "Collateral damage. It's not like we need him. Besides, fishing accidents happen." The Nord crossed his arms across his chest. "Anyway, we could do it like that, but I'd rather see you miss your jump first, old man."
  12. Eric leaned in closer to Guts and Nerwen and spoke in a hushed voice. "We could shove that goblin off the pier as a decoy for those crocodiles."
  13. Eric winked at Mariel as he walked by, following Nerwen's lead. The odour of drink made him thirsty. Not wanting to shell out another 30 gold for Mead, Eric decided to drink one of his own Meads. When Nerwen found out the ship's name, the Nord also took some smeling salts, hastening him so the search would go faster.
  14. "Reporting this to our employer" the Nord repeated Guts in a mock-tone as he rolled his eyes. "What are you, a five-year old that goes tell his mommy when he sees something he doesn't like? Seriously, get over it. The pirate's dead" Eric then started to walk on, trying to catch a sight of the Weregators, but then turned around again. "Also, try to keep the spitting to a minimum, please. The dripping saliva makes you look like an idiot, mr. Tough Guy."
  15. When I devised a story for my quest (that was halted), I also worked on enemies first. I tried to come up with reason for why they would be seen as an enemy. What drives them to do "evil"? Then I worked from there to get to a plot. I have to admit, though, at first my enemies weren't really all that deep and satisfying like yours are now. In some way I'm glad the quest was halted, since I got to work on them some more and flesh them out, making them a bit more real. I hope that one day I'll be able to host again and then truly reveal my enemy characters, because in my previous quest, the characters had only just reached the first of the enemies when I halted the quest. They didn't even get to talk or fight.
  16. Godricsleif hummed as it absorbed the blood of the old men. Eric's eyes were burning with passion. He chuckled at the grizzly scene and let his tongue circle his lips, licking up the few drop of blood that had splattered on his face. Eric shook his head, "I don't have to explain anything. The pirate's dead. I can't help it if these demented meatbags use his name to intimidate strangers. It's a free city, after all." Satisfied, the Nordic Raider pocketed the gold. "Indeed, let's go see those crocodiles. We'll make them talk."
  17. Eric smiled, "You jealous?" The Nord unsheathed his huge greatsword and prepared to attack the pirates following Chromeknight's plan. For the record: Eric attacks Popeye from the front row with Godricsleif. Eric attacks Parateek from the front row with Godricsleif.
  18. Eric watched the Elven Shaman talk to the walking crocodiles. The talk seemed rather short, though. It was obvious she wasn't able to wrestle any new information from the captain and his crew. He felt disappointed with the apparent lack of dedication the Elf had. From what Eric was able to deduce, the leader of the crocodiles had produced a friendly smile and brushed Nerwen off. In his opinion, the Shaman should've pressed on, tricked or intimidated the captain into talking. People talk, they all do eventually. Sometimes it takes breaking some bones or shedding some blood to encourage them, but in the end you'd get information. Eric was itching to question the greenskins himself, but time was of essence. Reno had to be found fast and the rest of his party was already pressing on. They seemed to have arranged some sort of meeting with a bunch of old coots. Eric eyed the crocodiles a final time and sighed. The Nordic Mead has stirred his bloodlust once more and he craved for violence. The crocodiles were lucky. With a stern face, the Nord made his way to the old men. He took some Smelling Salts and a Nostrum. Something seemed odd and Eric just knew never to trust a pirate. Even if they were old, cripple and demented. "Let's go."
  19. Eric put his gambeson and chainmail armor back on. While he straps on his weapons, he replies: "I'll return soon, but I've got to find Reno first." He then left the room and hurried downstairs. The pub was still bustling with people, but it didn't take the Nord too long to spot his party members. He walked up to them and casually said: "You talked with those crocodiles yet? From what I heard, Reno made some sort of deal with them before he left."
  20. Eric's grin turned wider. He looked over his shoulder at his party members. They seemed like they'd be busy for a while, so Eric had plenty of time. He lay his arm around Mariel's shoulders. "Yes, perhaps it would be better to continue this discussion in your chamber."
  21. "That sounds quite mysterious. Well, since he didn't say anything about the place not being suited for good-looking Nords, I guess I'll just have to go and find where he went. I already saved him once, the drink afterwards will only be greater once I help him for a second time." Eric grinned. With a seductive look in his eyes, he addressed Muriel once more. "Here's two gold for your trouble, Muriel, buy something nice with it. Perhaps something sweet to match your personality." Eric normally wouldn't go around spending his hard-earned coin on such follies, but he had a weak for redheads, and this one was a redhead. A piratey one at that. Before he left Muriel, he lay his large hand on the side of her head and stroked her cheeck with his thumb. He asked her, "Is there anything else you remember? Every hint or help would be of great assistance if I am to find our friend again." The Nord seemingly hadn't lost his slickness yet.
  22. "Reno left Eubric?" Eric faked astonishment. "That's too bad, I was hoping to see him again here. It's been a while since we last met. He still owes me for saving his life, so I figured I'd come visit here so he could buy me a drink. Did he mention where he went to?"
  23. Was wearing eyepatches becoming some sort of fad in Eubric? First there was Tesni and now this woman. Eric only knew eyepatches from Southern pirates, who usually wore them to hide missing eyes or cover up scars. Up North, people would usually wear their scars with pride and not cover them up like this. The South was a strange place. "A memento from a now ex-eyepatched friend? Perhaps we might have an unexpected connection in common. A friend of mine named Reno wears an eyepatch, too. In fact, he even pointed me to this fine drinking establishment. It wouldn't by any coincidence happen to be his eyepatch, would it?"
  24. Eric overheard the bartender mentioning Mariel and turned his head. Searching the crowd, he quickly spotted the barmaid. He eyed her for a while before moving in. The eyepatch was a bit of a turn-off, but it's a detail the Nord could easily ignore. Confidently, borderlining arrogance, he stepped over to her. Time to work his charms once more. He put on a slick smile and adressed the ginger barmaid. "What an honour for us common sailors to be graced by the presence of one so gorgeous such as you. Forgive my insolence, but might you have sadly lost your eye to the rage of a jealous mermaid? I heard tales of their viciousness when confronted by a common Human who outmatches them in sheer beauty." He looked down upon her, towering high above her. He let his gaze wander all over the barmaid until his icy eyes finally settled on her one good eye. His eyes sparkled with childish mischief. Eric stared at her intensely, but not in his usual threatening or discomforting way. He smiled as he looked at her, trying to size her up and figure out what kind of person he was dealing with and how to proceed. "Would you honour me by accepting a drink? I heard the rum they serve here is magnificent."
  25. Eric decided to linger at the bar for the time being. He started to speak to the fishman bartender. "So, you have any juicy gossip to share? I always do love me a good rumour" ChromeKnight, you should drink the Mead I bought. It'd be a shame to just let a 25 gold Mead go to waste .
