Eric turned around to see who was addressing him. Some newcomer, a rookie who had yet to find out that Eric the Viking was rather picky in choosing those he talked with. Either the collocutor had to have proven himself in combat, had to be of Nordic stock (or any other warrior folk) or had to have something of value the Norse Raider could proft from. From the the looks of it, this one had none of these qualities. What upset Eric even more, was the fact that the "man" in question was not a "Man" at all, rather he was an automaton, a concoction of wood, gears and magic. He had seen similar fabrications before, when he was under the employ of the Bonaparte family to track down the pirate Jolly Roger. The cocky smile on his face made room for a more sinister expression. Eric loathed the automatons. To him, they represented the sad state of current affairs in the world. People of all races were becoming cowards, too afraid to pick up a blade and defend their own honour. Instead, they turned to soulless fabrications such as this one to do the fighting for them. Worse yet, these things were not even fueled by a passion for battle, a religious duty or physical strength, instead they lived their sorry life powered by ether. Magic, the weapon of the weak. "Talking furniture, who would've guessed? What do you want?", Eric grinned, visibly amused by his jab at the newcomer.

I was typing my opinion on the topic vs. wiki matter, while Zepher posted his insights. Basically everything he said, is what I had wanted to say, only he said it better . So, I'm also in favor of a topic, for the same reasons Zepher stated. A wiki could be overkill for a humble beginner's guide and might seduce the writer(s) to go overboard with information, when the idea is actually to have a really basic guide.

The mighty doors of the hall swung open once more. A tall, imposing figure confidently strode through them. His blonde hair was swept back across his skull and gleamed in the sparse sunlight. A grin adorned the hero's smug face as he slammed the doors shut and continued his way into the saloon, the metal rings of his chainmail armour making a tinkling noise as he did so. Eric the Nord had returned to Heroica Hall, haughty and self-assured as ever. The Raider seemed to have ditched his previous Eubric-bought, Southern-styled outfit in favour of a new one – different one would be a more apt way of describing it. His “new” outfit was hardly new at all and looked as if it had seen better days. The worn and tattered look of Eric’s new armour stood in stark contrast to the Nord’s own natural good looks. For a man who prides himself in a good appearance, it was a surprise to see him dressed so commonly utilitarian now. Gone were the highly detailed metal clasps, exquisite tailoring and expensive fabrics that marked his previous outfits. They had been replaced with a simple black, studded and hooded gambeson. Eric, however, found the hood impractical and let it down, so now it hung around his neck. A broad leather belt was slung across his shoulder holding Grom, his axe, on his chest, while Godricsleif hung on his back. Like most of his clothing, the belts, too, were covered with stains of mud, grime and likely blood. Hobnailed, knee-high boots that reminded of fishermen, or more likely and worse: pirates, completed the Nord’s most recent outfit. All of this, coupled with a faint scent of saltwater the Raider brought in with him, strongly suggested an origin of dubious corsair-y or pirate-y nature to Eric’s latest gear. Head high and chest forward, Eric arrogantly marched towards the bar, not really paying attention to any of the hall’s occupants. Once arrived, he sat down. He took the pendant that hung on his chest in the palm of his hand. It had the shape of a kraken, a mythical creature that often features in the songs of Nordic skalds, intricately crafted in metal. As soon as Scheherazade walked up to him, he let go of the token. “I’ll have the usual”

Eric the Nord Raider stepped onto the famed Eubric marketplace for the first time since his return to the Freeport. After he left the party hired by Dr. Trice, the Viking warrior had roamed Uland and its surrounding waters for a while, before deciding to head back to Eubric. Now, he found himself on its market, his pockets heavy with gold coins. It had been a while since Eric last visited the many merchants of this city, but the Nord still knew his way around. Arrogant as ever, he barged his way through the crowd, shoving aside those who stood in his way. Some people opened their mouths to protest to the Nord's behaviour, but no sounds came out. They usually relented when they became aware that their situation was hopeless. After all, the Raider towered above most and his athletic build was equally imposing to the common folk. In short notice, Eric had made his way to Anwyl's shack. "Meh, you again," the dwarf spoke, "what do you want this time?" Eric unsheathed his mighty greatsword and presented it to the blacksmith. "There's a lot I want, Anwyl, but I'm afraid the only thing in your power to gift me, would be an upgrade to my trusty battle-companion. Let your stunted fingers work their magic on my great sword and you shall be compensated, of course" "Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever. Give me the sword, I'll start working on right away" It took the Dwarven blacksmith some time, but he managed to upgrade Godricsleif to WP: 19, an action which set Eric back 990 gold, leaving him with 616 gold. Pleased with his upgraded weapon, Eric swung by at Fabian's artifact shop. There he bought a pair of Counterstrike Gloves (-80) and then left the marketplace. For the sake of gameplay,I'll also subtract 230 gold for a suit of heavy armour, but RP-wise I have other origins for Eric's heavy armour. In total, Eric has spend 1300 gold. The Nord now has 306 gold left (1606-1300).

Hi guys! It's been a while since I've actively played/posted, but I did try to keep up with the current events and latest quests in Heroica, because I wouldn't want to have missed too much once I get back in. I really like the RP'ing and stories of these last few quests and I'm equally pleased to see that some interesting new characters have been introduced by new players.I also found I really cool of you to give Eric a present during Grogmas, even though I wasn't around at the time . Things are starting to somewhat calm down around here, so I hope I can once again allot some of my free time to Heroica in the near future! Hosting quests will probably still be a no-go for me (if I want to do it right this time), but I believe I will be able to participate in quests. After all, I wouldn't want to leave poor Haldor as the only ambassador of the North in the Guild . EDIT: Forgot to say I really like your quest Flare, very nice photography and great characters. The loot's been pretty awesome as well. Too bad I wasn't able to participate anymore .

The heroes raced back through the halls of the cave and continued along the other path. In a large cavern, they found a large coffin. Several stone humanoid statues dotted the otherwise empty room. Cautiously the party opened the lid of the coffin. Much to their surprise, they found Dr. Cula resting inside. Tied and kept secure with silver chains, the Vampire had been awaiting his execution, but then all hell had broken lose. Quickly, the heroes freed the renowed alchemist from his prison. Doctor Cula looked terrible, but no doubt he had been in worse situations. There was, however, so trace of the good doctor's assistent or of any of those belonging to the Oroborus organization. Disappointed the heroes returned to the guildhall. Their heads were filled with questions. What is Oroborus, why were they involved with Vikings and werewolves and most of all: what did they want with Dr. Cula and his assistent? THE QUEST IS PUT TO STOP ! The heroes are paid a sum of 450 gold to split (added to party leader's inventory, please divide in the Hall). This is a recompensation for the lost items during the quest, plus a reward for "finding" back Dr. Cula (which means half of the Quest's goal is completed). In addition, the current party members will have an advantage when it comes to being selected to a possible follow-up quest (which won't be anywhere in the near future, though) The Party: Siercon (Siercon and Coral) *** Party Leader *** Level 6 Mage Power: 14 Defense: 1 Health: 7/7 Ether: 4/6 Gold: 450 (Owes Namyrra (Quarryman) 60gp, Arthur (Flipz) 9gp) Equipment: Lullaby Wand (WP:8, sleep effect), Sylvania's Cowl(Artifact, Head Wear, Animal Talk) Robe of the Magi (SP:1) Inventory: Potion, Diamond, Bedroll, Scroll of Sleep, Shield (SP:1), Remedy Zark (Pharos721) Level 4 Barbarian Power: 9 Health: 8/8 Gold: 20 Equipment: Tetsubo (WP:5) Inventory: Iron Great Axe (WP3) Lycan Dean (TheBoyWonder) Level 8 Rogue *Immune to weakened* Power: 19 Health: 9/12 Gold: 0 (95 gold owed to Thormanil and 30 to Loreal) Equipment: Sword of the Croise (WP: 9), Pugillist Gloves(Power +2, protects from weakened), Sylvania's Cowl(grants Animal Talk to Wearer) Inventory: Bedroll, Staff of The Frog Paladin (WP:6, 1/6 chance of Amphibianocs Blessing (protects from damage)), Throwing Dagger (WP6), Warhammer (WP:4)

"Good thinking, monk! I'll focus on taking out Ricky first, since he's the strongest of the pair. I'll then help take down Malbert" Eric said full of vigour. He was glad h was no longer petrified. Even though, he couldn't stand monk Pretzel on a personal level, the Nord had to admit his strategical insights had been of great importance so far. Ruffling through his satchel, Eric felt a scroll. Surprised, he took out the parchment. It was a Scroll of Sleep he had purchased some months ago from the witch Elphaba. The Nord had totally forgotten that he was even in possesion of one of those ( ). "Does anyone of you want to use this Scroll? Perhaps we could try and put Malbert to sleep after this round and focus our strength on the boy!" Eric raises his thumb in agreement with the old monk. The loot is indeed too good to pass up on. Only a coward would flee from a fight. Eric hated the fact that was pretty much useless right now and hoped he would soon be able to fight again. Please follow the monk's directions- 892 replies

"They tried to kill me because I didn't want to break the contract. See, we all got hired for this certain job. Our contractors would lure the package to this cave and all we had to do was take care of it. However, things went awry when the Viking mercenaries found out the prey was a Vampire. Vampires are held in high esteem in Nordic culture, you know, so didn't want to kill him. The Viking mercs clashed with the Werewolf mercs and all those who did want to take care of the Vampire and do what we were paid for." "I appreciate the help. As I've said, I came here as part of a mercenary force consisting out of Nords in search of battle and Werewolfs in search of blood. With the Bonapartes tightening their grip on the Seas, raiding gets harder and us Vikings need to seek other lines of employ to come by."

Eric tries to say something, but he can't since he's been stunned. The Nord is mumbling, but nobody can make out what he's trying to say. I don't get why you place me first in the BO? I'm stunned, there's nothing I can do. Wouldn't it make more sense to put you or Erdathcath first and my turns last? Both of you try a heal and when I'm healed I can attack both foes, thus negating any free hits. Or am I missing something here?- 892 replies
