  1. What?! We're changing the guerrilla rules? I liked them how they were! Okay, first of all, why would everyone on the response team get one point if the response wins? I take it we're talking personal points here. I really don't see why everyone should get a point; they haven't put effort in to it! If you ask me just the winning build should get a point, and I'd make it two or three points. Second, I think five approvals for responses is a bit high. It makes it hard to get them but I don't think it really will have any effect on the quality standard. Three approvals is plenty if you ask me. I don't quite see why under this point system guerrilla suddenly became a bit gamble. If you ask me, it just became a few points more worthwhile 'cause now if you win, you get 6 instead of 4, was it? - though to be sure the default went from 5 to 3, so I guess it evens out. Here's a concern I do have, although it probably won't happen, but just in case - I don't think a team or combination of teams should be allowed to guerrilla another team up to more than half the second team's members. That's not a problem when it comes to DK or HC, but just say those two put their heads together and decided to blow us out of the water, five of each team could create guerrillas which would be ten against us. If every single builder on our team were to respond that would still leave one automatic win! And there's almost no way every team member it going to be able to respond. I'd say the most guerrillas any combination of team can do against us in a week should be five (half the number of people on our team). Like I said, that's probably not going to happen, but while we're addressing various concerns... As currently stands, 1) only the guerrilla gets six points, 2) everyone on the counter team gets one (which doesn't make much sense to me from anyone's point of view except those who just sit on the sideline and get a free point every now and then! ). Edit: While we're at it, I may as well say that a quickly hashed, poorly executed guerrilla will get it's own punishment in an easy win by the defenders - if it even makes it through the approval process! As for personal points, since they're only a factor in deciding the winner of Challenge C, surely the judges will make some allowance should a pathetic guerrilla get by!
  2. Welcome to GoH Sir Gillian, even if this is starting to sound old you joined the wrong guild!
  3. Kaflar strode forward with a firm step and a haughty air. He was determined to exemplify the bravery and glory of Loreos, knowing that dozens of hostile outlaw eyes were upon him. He lifted his chin proudly, maybe a little smugly. After all, hadn't he played the part of a gentleman by offering himself for single combat so that no outlaw non-combatants would get hurt? And hadn't he gone the extra mile by allowing the outlaw champion to choose his own arena? He rather wondered what the spot could be like. He looked at the rocky formations surrounding him and his escort. Not a pleasant mat to fall on, at any rate! One of his companions, and outlaw noble (there were such things? Kaflar wondered) nudged him. “Around that next hummock. There’s the battle ground.” He broke off with a wide, crooked grin. Kaflar looked and noticed a trail of smoke wending its way skyward. He was starting to have second thoughts about the wisdom of having agreed to meet his opponent on his own ground! Presently they slipped between the rocks and Kaflar got a glance at the arena. He gasped, and no wonder, for this was what he saw: He glanced over toward the sidelines. The “stands” seemed rather precarious, but evidently the onlookers didn’t think so. There were ladies even – one was fanning herself, Kaflar noticed, and no wonder either. He looked forward again. There stood his antagonist – a massive giant of a man. Kaflar particularly noticed his ax blade. An official cried out with a booming voice, “Let the battle commence!” The champions rushed at each other. For a while they played it safe, testing each other’s strength. Now it seemed like Kaflar had the advantage – now again the outlaw was pressing forward – the fight surged back and forth. Kaflar, always acutely aware of the boiling lava beneath – the outlaw, always with the same grim look and the same grim ax blade, too. Suddenly he made a blow that was wilder and more violent than usual. Kaflar sprang backwards to avoid it. The outlaw drew himself up to his full height, raising the ax far above his head. Springing high into the air he uttered a terrifying war-cry. Stumbling, Kaflar threw his sword up to shield his face. From over the blade he caught one glance of the outlaw’s twisted, furious face before he shut his eyes and murmured a breathless prayer. The next moment might well be his last. Yet maybe, just maybe, he would roll suddenly, right when the ax blade was ready to sever his skull from his body. Maybe, just maybe, he would avoid the hungry flames and land on solid rock. Maybe he would lift his sword high above the discomfited outlaw and with a powerful, echoing cry – “For the glory of Loreos!” – drive it deep between his shoulder blades. And maybe the stands would roar their amazement and congratulations and maybe he would be the hero after all. But maybe not. An overview of the entire MOC: Thanks for taking the time to check it out, and read the story if you did! Comments and criticisms are welcome!
  4. The first shot here is especially good! Nice job with the vegetation, the combination of green, light blue, and dark tan give it a very lush feel!
  5. Excellent work on this build Hammerhand! The wooden wall looks really good with the alternating log bricks and larger pillars, and the meeting hall inside is very nice as well! Very nice job on the well, too!
  6. Fantastic build SK, the covered walkway is excellent as are those trees! Really nice interior too!
  7. The use of dk grey and tan here looks really good! The palm leaves look great as well!
  8. That's the perfect criterion I think when it comes to approval. I'd expect a far better build from certain builders than from others to still demonstrate the same effort.
  9. Really nice little build, the crack is well done (although personally I would just have laid it on the paper without the sand underneath). The little flames shooting up are great as well!
  10. The High Council is definitely too full. Seriously though, Ulandus really needs some more members, we have by far the smaller amount in any case and especially when you consider that Gunman said he probably wouldn't be able to build much, that leaves only nine of us!
  11. Thanks everyone! I would assume the build+the border, but not putting too much of the response build's focus on the sections that are border on this one. Yes, or at least from DK territory.
  12. Nice little build Garmadon, particularly the wagon but the posing is good too! +1 for life in Kali and shipping by land. However, I'd like to see something a bit bigger before giving you desert credit!
  13. Thanks guys! I'm glad most of you seem to have found the story rather amusing! Fixed that! If the title could be switched that would be great; it should read [G:F13, U vs. DK] Herding 'em up!
  14. A guerrilla build for UIandus against the Desert king, F13. Herding 'em up!
  15. Sorry about that! The rules didn't really say much one way or the other but I was going off this: This is true, it just has to be an enemy occupied area. No neutral zones. Obviously I misunderstood!
  16. (A chilly, frosting morning. Through the gloom, three people are just visible. The seem to be bent on a mission.) N.1: (whispering loudly) Stop it you duphis! You're poking me with your spear! N.2: (penitently) I'm sorry. N.3: (authoritatively( Hush it up! We're getting close! (A loud crash, followed by an obnoxiously loud "Moooooo...") N.3: So much for secrecy! Get them! N.2: (in a low tone to N.1) Here we are, miles away from the nearest house and he's worried about a few twigs breaking! I never could understand him. N.1: (picking himself up and brushing dead leaves off his tunic) That makes two of us! N.3: You! To the left. You take the right. Keep them together. I'll head them. N.2: (slapping the back end of a cow with the flat of his spear) Now this is my kind of job! N.1: No way, Mr. Cow, you're coming over here! N.3: Cows are female. N.1: Nu-uh. This one's male, I'm sure. Just look at him try to ram that bush down... oh, no, you porker, stay on track now! N.3: You don't get it. All cows are female. N.2: What? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. How you gonna get a baby cow if they're all female? N.3: (exasperated) Because there are bulls, of course! N.1: Bulls? Those crazy old things you can't come within a mile of? Now if there's anything all female, that's it. (reflectively) You know the saying, there's nothing more angry than a woman scorned - or somethin'. Now, a bull just screams that to me. N.2: Yep! N.3: You two are a bunch of... N.2: (interrupting) Don't want to know what we are, but anyone else feel like a gang of robbers? N.3: (gravely) It's not robbing if you pay for it. (N.3 tosses some coins onto the ground they had just left) N.1: (to N.2) You were right. Never can understand him! C&C welcome! Numbers 1, 2, and 3 are making inroads in F13, Desert King territory.
  17. Thanks guys! Ugh. That cost me some trouble, though in the end the solution was quite simple!
  18. Didn't realize you had posted here as well, but for the sake of those who aren't reading both:
  19. Technically I believe Ska is the one who gets to decide where the guerrilla actions happens. In this case, as Lord Dan has picked his spot, I have no idea what will happen. Also, counters are to be posted in the same thread, not a new one.
  20. Great job on the palm tree, and your take on the desert king's soldiers is really nice as well!
  21. Really nice build here, the water pump is great and the aqueduct looks excellent, especially like the inset dark tan! Approved!
  22. Thanks everyone! Not literally! Thanks! Just looking around... it would appear so! But then again, they might not have realized this job would be so dangerous... Thanks!
  23. "who've been terrorizing mountain mummy warbands" I'd have to say looks like the opposite way around! Nice little build, !
  24. Ageven and his buddy sneak along the muddy Arkbri banks in the hopes of surprising a high council spy... but maybe they'll be the ones that get the surprise! Thanks for checking it out! Supposing the impossible happens and I win, I'd pick F14 as the next battle ground. Comments are welcome!
