  1. Thank you all. I'm starting to get a better feel for the program, so the second floor is a little better. Here is it so far. This is a Dental Office, loosely modeled on my wife's. I'm sort of going for that fairly common US 1960's-70's light commercial building found in so many main streets throughout America. (basically cinder block buildings with some moderate concessions to architecture. Lacking in the more elaborate trimmings found in their earlier US and contemporary European cousins. In most cases form followed function and the architect was apparently colorblind.) I'm kind of pleased with how the signs came out. I'm not sure on the colors for the Comic Shop signs? And yes, the plan is to build this in the brick and populate it with appropriate minifigs .
  2. Chances are that was just that, a rumor. But keep in mind with this list, it is from the catalog and will not include store exclusives. So there may be one or two sets out there yet. (remember how late we learned of Palpatines Arrest this year?)
  3. She probably is. Rumor is AC series 2 was cancelled very late in the design / production cycle. So the designs and parts were probably all ready to go.
  4. A few more guesses - Guy dressed in a Bee Suit. Seems an obvious continuation of the costume figs and a reuse of the fairy wings. - some sort of distinctive Crook. City police need some love, and they have Lego undercover coming out. - evil Sorceress. We have good wizards and bad Wizards, but no female representation beyond the Witch fig or Harry Potter. Something more a kin to a goth version of the Castle Queen fig. - Boy Scout. Just too easy to not do. We need more children. Reuses the bandana and the Forrest police hat. - Good or Shining Knight. Counterpart to the evil knight. Just a given. - space Crook (pimp?). You just know they will give us a Brick Daddy recolor one of these days. Probably in red. - Bicycle Racer. Yellow jersey, tools, bike hat. - male Lifeguard. Lego Speedos. Will be the most awful thing ever. Will feature "Hoff Hair". - Ski Patrol. Just because we don't already have enough bloody skiers. This one will have a safety vest. And maybe a backpack. - Internet Troll. Fantasy era troll head and helmet, in a greasy bathrobe, with a laptop and coffee mug. The evil counterpart to the S7 IT guy. - Princess. Just because we really never had one. - Fairy Godmother. Sort of an either or with the Princess as they would both use the same pointy hat piece. Another fairy wing reuse. - American Pioneer. Buckskins, coon hat, rifle. Think Davy Crocket. - Chinese Warrior. If the Ninjago book is to be believed they may have some new molds in the works in this direction already. - Female Dentist or Vet. Counterpart to the surgeon. - Classical Musician. Continuing their music theme. Tux or evening gown, violin. Sheet music. This is what happens with no coffee in the morning.
  5. For a scene, the City of Atlantis, with all of its underwater ruins to walk around. For a boat? Maybe some of the Agents stuff. 8636 Deep Sea Quest has a sub that probably better matches him then the Atlantis theme stuff, and it has a more old school fishing or dive boat that would look a lot better with him than any of the modern sleek city themed powerboats.
  6. Wow! How big will that be when finished?
  7. Oh boy I bet that subject line if going to bring in some real interesting, and real disapointed internet search traffic But that is a fantastic little building. I love the colors.
  8. There is some gorgeous detail in there. I love the level of detail especially the freezer.
  9. I love the Actor. The faces are just perfect. I finally got an Alien Queen. I adore her just for the complexity. 2 part cloak, 3 part head, plus a 2 part ray gun? Woot! plus I think her head looks a lot better with the opaque pink center head, than the AQ Alien Comander or Cyborgs do with the clear green center head. The Queens really makes the trans clear brain piece pop out at you much better. I had thought that the solid opaque head piece would be a con against the figure. Instead it vastly improved how it looks. All I am missing now is the DJ, the Lederhosen dude and the Pirate. PS I would be remiss in not pointing out, the Actor makes an absolutely fabulous addition to any Monster Fighters display, just by reversing the heads.
  10. Hey all. I just wanted to show off my first attempts with LDD. (Please be kind). I'm in the process of designing a three story corner modular. This si the first floor so far, tentatively called "Liberty Comics and Games". This is the bulk of the first floor. More or less. I am still having issues getting LDD to mount decorative pieces on the walls, and I can't find the 2x2 tile with clip anywhere in the library that I will need to make the spinner rack. I'm still working on how to do the signage. Ideally the one wall will have "COMICS" the other "GAMES" with a modified Statue of Liberty CMF sitting in an alcove above the door. The comic bins will have a few 2x2 tiles with comic cover decals on them, etc. The second floor (or first floor for our European friends ) will be a Dentists office. The third will be a Karate School. This is my first time attempting anything quite this ambitious. So I am open to any and all advice. I am hoping to build it once I work out a full parts list.
  11. It may not be a theme at all. It may be more of an event. I saw this sign up in the mall near the Lego store While it doesn't say "Speedorz" it does seem to be trending towards many of our thoughts on what the line might be.
  12. I think the top piece of the helmet are a set of crab claws? But I can't recognize he piece from anywhere?
  13. Doesn't Elrond appear in full battle armor in the opening scene of one of the versions of Fellowship of the Ring?
  14. I think that is because you are in a time zone ahead of the store. The item will not actually become available until normal business hours at the actual store location, and the comming soon can't display in hours.
  15. For American Football teams it is numbers in large type on the front and back of the torso. The team logo is on the sides of the helmet and the shoulders. Hockey is the opposite with the team logo on the chest and the number on the back. Sigh! and I just opened 6 random packs and got 2 more of these mostly useless figs. I know WhiteFang doesn't care for the Pirate Captain. But at least he comes with a few interesting parts. The Football guy is just horrid all around. You can't use the head for anything else because of the eye black. The breastplate all has the same number making team building impossible. The helmet and faceguard is almost interesting, but I really cant think of anything else to do with it. The only use I can see for the figure is as a victim, either as an Ambulance patient for a city MOC or as a slasher type victim in a horror or SciFi MOC.
  16. Looking at the colors, and at the crystals, this might be a teaser for a licensed set. Aren't we expecting Lego sets based on the new Superman movie? is that almost the stylized Superman S seen through crystals ala the Fortress of Solitude? (assuming they use a similar aesthetic to the 1970's movies?)
  17. That actually makes more sense. I don't think the bite cycle was one of their better sellers vs the other Ninjago sets. So they may have surplus of those figs.
  18. They tried one Time Travel theme quite a few years ago. Sadly Time travel while great in concept, makes for a kind of oddly disjointed theme. It is very hard to balance the products to get the needed unified elements to tell the story and make it a theme, while at the same time having distinct time travel settings and vehicles and period setups. You basically get Sherman and Professor Peabody with Dinosaurs, in Space, and standing with a bunch of PotC leftover minifigs. 3 clear sets. And the core unifying piece, the 'Sherman and Peabody + time machine" piece ends up the same for every set. Otherwise you don't have an actual theme. So you end up with the Harry Potter problem, where a portion of every sets minifig budget is wasted on the same figs. And without those unifying elements, well you have a classic pirates set, a classic space set, a classic castle set and a classic dino set. As I said, the concept of Time Travel is great. You can really feel that there is something there. But there are a lot more subtle problems in the execution than we immediately realize. It's almost the "anti theme" theme. Because it struggles against the thematic unity.
  19. Remember, we first saw the Tie Bomber in the asteroid field in ESB, bombing the larger rocks to flush out the MF. So the set makes sense.
  20. The T Rex is perfect. Well done. I think the rig on the smaller dino is a little too large and overwhelming. It might look better on a slightly larger dino, such as the Velociraptor from the Raptor Chase or the HQ set.
  21. Interesting idea. Reminds me a little bit of the classic AMT/ERTL "Gigantics" Plastic Model kits from the 70's. (I remember the Mantis, Scorpion and Tarantula ones). They played with this sort of idea a little bit with the PQ sets. The only problem I see is the military part of it. In order to do such a theme right it really needs a sort of B movies 50's sci fi movie feel. But TLG adamantly refuses to make anything with modern military connotations outside of licensed lines. (don't ask me how the CMF sailor got through?) They would kind of need to set the monsters against something like their Alien Conquest ADF team. (And if they are going to do that, they should just go whole hog and make Galaxy Patrol figs vs giant space bugs ala Heinleins Starship Troopers.)
  22. You actually got it pretty much right with American Football. It is basically a variant of what you know as Rugby. Just with a little more in the way of rules, officiating, protective gear and a tendency to try and cut down on the grievous bodily harm that so defines Rugby. As an American and a Football fan, that figure is kind of one of the weaker ones of the line. It's just missing something. A football instead of the trophy and some printing on the sides of thehelmet would have been a huge improvement.
  23. I think it is. Similar to the Modulars. Primarily the Lego stores and the online services.
  24. I can see a huge market for the Disney Princess / Disney Castles system theme to spawn off of the Friends line. Of the others... Maybe a Winnie the Pooh or Peter Pan type set to go along with them. (Actually Peter Pan or Neverland would be a really cool Pirates spin off). I don't think a Bob the Builder or Dora line would do well in the older kid oriented System lines. They seem a good fit for Duplo.
  25. of the two I would say the Lighthouse. It's just a very striking looking piece that really looks good and stands out on a shelf. It remains one of my favorites.
