  1. Get the FB. And it Will Not be the last Modular you get. Trust me on this one ;)
  2. My initial impressions in looking at these. The Turtles themselves look decent. Better that I expected. Not perfect, but more than good enough for my tastes. Not crazy about the head molds, but they do the job. Shredder is great. A different color than I am used to, but still carries the effect and has lots of good parts and details. Krang is just awful. But that's the new character designs from the show. The vehicles look horrid. They may yet grow on me, but first glance, bleach. Splinter = Kill It With Fire! Dear gods what is that thing. Somebody call an exterminator. And why the hell is Crash Bandicoot In a TMNT set?!?! [
  3. Split the difference? Order online from Lego S@H. This way you get the online pricing, and the points. Plus when they released the LotR and MF they had some real good bundle deals. A good price and bonus points.
  4. Oh! And do not use any actual Lego logos anywhere. (The red quarter with white Lego lettering). TLG is very specific about its uses. Even box art mock ups on CuuSoo have to have it removed.
  5. I know I am going to open a can of worms with this one, but I don't think it is the expense of adding a few vests. I think it is more to do with Lego's long held stance concerning guns and violence in their city theme sets. It may seem utterly trivial to some of us, but I think Lego does make a slight and subtle distinction between the uniform printing on a minifig, and a clearly defined play feature such as a removable vest. In the case of the printing, it is the officers uniform. A modern type of uniform that we and kids see every day. But by adding it as that separate piece it adds a much greater degree of context to it. Enough that they are probably keeping it clear of at least the city line. It's not like they don't have the vest molds. They made them for Agents 2.0. But notice how that piece was never ever made without the Agents logo printing? I think that is a lot of what is going on there. The torso printing is simply "modern police uniform, with radios, big Police lettering, etc" the vest piece is tactical or military gear. Not allowed in the younger trending city line. And yeah I know it's subtle.
  6. Did this also effect the sales of damaged or open box deals at the Lego stores? I just noticed my local store has done away with my beloved damaged box discount table
  7. I love the gold dragon. Definitely on my must have list. I will get the others mainly for figs. I agree that something just seems to be missing from he Temple of Light. The Fire Temple is so gorgeous a structure. This one looks like it is from an earlier design age. A lot of flat plates and bricks. No real styling or architecture. It seems to lack flow. The gold mech is kind of neat. Am I alone in hoping for one more surprise? A big end of theme exclusive set like we have been seeing in recent years? I mean Ninjago has been one of their most profitable themes. It's going out on a high note. You would hope they might sneak us something like the MMV, or Imperial Flagship, or Haunted House or Arkham? Maybe a final battle with the as yet unrevealed big villain?
  8. Have we confirmed that Loyd will be the Gold Ninja? I just ask, because some things like the golden robot in the Light Temple set, makes me wonder if Perhaps Zane has been set up as one of the surprises for this season.
  9. I don't think they have ever revealed production numbers, except in the rare case of the limited numbered UCS sets.
  10. Ummmm? What? No really? What!?!? Lego stores are NOT connected to the FBI. Really they aren't. In particular the FBI doesn't tend to patrol malls in Canada. They are kind of funny that way. It's simple. If you want to film a fan film in a store, ask the manager. They will happily tell you what the store or retail chains policy on such things is, and who you have to contact to gain legit permission. I can't speak for Canada or outside the US, but in the US you can film the outside public facing of a store without too much problem, at least from a reasonable distance. So you can film the outside of a Walmart. I would however use caution, and certainly not film the stores in a Mall without permission. Mall operators and local Law Enforcement tend to frown upon such things as they are always fearful of someone casing terrorist or robbery targets.
  11. They showed off a new version of that fig at comic con. It should be part of the Arkham Assylum set that is coming this winter. So if nothing else the Bricklink price should be reasonable.
  12. Any set of the Jedi Temple that we will ever see WILL be a Clone Wars set exclusively. We will never, ever see a RotS Temple playset. Simply because of the whole "Child Murder" thing going on there. By doing it as a TCW set yo0u get a broad mix of really popular Jedi and Bounty Hunters in one set, can throw in a bunch of secret passages and play features, and avoid the whole disturbing image of Jimmy Smitts running away while a pre pubescent boy fights to his death to defend him.
  13. One of the two big retail release SW sets on the shelves right now is Jabba's Palace. A large set with lots of Minifigs. It gets even larger next release with the Rancor add on. I agree that Lego probably will try and keep at least one large OT set on the shelves. Those appeal to the parents and the older fans. The ones with the more disposable income. I also would not rule out seeing another huge exclusive play set such as the Death Star. Maybe a big UCS Cloud City? ( other candidates for something that size would be the Theed Palace, maybe the Ewok Village, and the Jedi Temple (which easily spans all 3 prequel movies and TCW. It would probably be stuffed with TCW style figs of Jedi and Bounty Hunters).
  14. I don't think Lego really pays attention to the anniversaries, except when prompted to do so by Lucasfilms. They have said that Lucas does offer suggestions and guidelines for at least some of the sets, regarding what sorts of stuff they wish to see, when. In oder to tie into their current projects or marketing (ie the SWTOR sets this last release). If Lucas is doing a big push for the RotJ anniversary we will see some more sets. If they are focusing more on the 3d PT re-releases and TCW then that is where the sets will fall. And honestly? ROTJ has been getting some decent Lego exposure in the last few release cycles. Jabbas Palace, Sand Skiff, Ewok Attack, The UCS, B Wing, Imperial Shuttle, plus the many consistant crossover OT sets like the MF, the SSD, The X Wing and Tie, etc. Not to mention the upcoming A Wing and Rancor sets. If anything RoTJ may be getting a bit over saturated as Lego subject matter. Excepting the long discussed Ewok Village, virtually every major scene or vehicle, (that would seem viable in Lego form, sorry but the complex curves of the Mon Cal cruisers are probably a no go at a reasonable price) have been done and released in the past 6 or 7 years. Other than a re-released Sail Barge, what are we really waiting on for RotJ? Compare that with say AotC? Love the film or hate it, it still has a literal ton of scenes that would work really well in Lego form, that have either not been seen in over a decade, or have never been done. Jango Fett Slave I, The Arena, The Corruscant Speeder chase, the Jedi Temple Library, Assorted ships from the Clone Battle, etc. I know we all love the OT stuff. And the truly classic OT subjects sell really well. But the pool of subjects grows year after year, and the population of fans is shifting as a result. I know we sometimes grumble about the Clone Wars. But it currently has almost 5 times the amount of footage to be watched as the OT and PT combined, with about as deep a pool of vehicles, characters and settings. And many of them are quite good, even by the standards of old school jaded fans like us. (I challenge any of we old school OT types to not love Cad Bane. He is everything we imagined Boba Fett to be the day that secret mail order action figure arrived in our mailboxes after we sent in all the proof of purchase seals, and it's all on screen.) Basically what I am trying to say is Lucas, and Lego through them will pick subjects based on a broad spread of reasons. A simple anniversary is not always it. Believe it or not, without some spectacular corresponding theatrical release, the 30th anniversary of RotJ, while worth noting, would probably not be anything that would sell more lego sets. Let's be honest with ourselves, anyone who would be buying a special 30th anniversary RotJ set, would probably be buying it without the anniversary hook. Not a lot of force driving the sales there. Whereas the 3d PT releases will boost related sales, as will a new season of TCW, etc.
  15. Well except the recurring classic blue of space.
  16. I've said this before, but in a nutshell here is the heart of it. Putting out an exclusive minifig for something like comic con is fine. However making it an exclusive character is quite frankly grossly insulting to the actual real paying customers. The DKR batman was fine. It was a variant of a fig that was available. The 24k gold C3PO is once again simply a figure variant of a character that a fan can still acquire and enjoy. But things like Pheonix, Bizarro, Shazam and Black Adam are a horrible use of the comics license, and a Gross disservice to the embedded fan base of the comic and superhero subjects.
  17. I love them! That building with the contrasting blue brown and tan plates is truly striking.
  18. I think the only way they could really do it would be to release a new fully redone or substantially different version of the ship. An example would be to do a new MF with a full detailed interior and Minifigs ala the Death Star this time. This way he earlier version is still distinct and collectables, but here is something new for those who both did and did not get the original. I'm kinda hoping those are preliminary or placeholder picks and we will be getting the red colored variant of those troopers instead. (Same armor and molds, just pretty much swap he blue and red markings. Red base color, blue stripes. Hey guarded the Sith.)
  19. Well that's kind of the beauty of it. If they release 5 different colored space men or space marines, you just Bricklink gobs of the color you want and build an army around it. You can do a red army vs blue army or whatever.
  20. It could very well be a recipe for bean dip, or some sort of strange manifesto. This is someone's vague look at something, that hey didn't quite understand , nd had never seen before. Using only a very small clip. And the having he whole thing run brought google translate.
  21. We have two things going on with hat. The first most obvious is hey have been targeting characters that have clear movie tie ins. The second less obvious reason is hat a substantial portion of the actual target audience that uses these sets as real toys, for play purposes, sorta kinda views girls as yucky.
  22. Yeah, which kind of illustrates why these exclusive comic con figs, are really a bad thing, at least as far as Lego and their regular legitimate fans and customers go. All these things do is line the pockets of a very limited pool of mercenary specialty dealers. The good feelings that Lego generates among fans are far out weighed by the bad feelings generated by the limited supply, the insanely high aftermarket pricing, and the blatant manipulation to insure that no real fan will ever see one of these. Just no actual benefit to either party that matter most.
  23. That actually sounds quite compelling to me. The distinctive color per human and ship brings to mind not just Ninjago, but also some truly classic space subjects. Some great stuff inspired by our friends from the Far East like Gatchaman or Power Rangers. So they have a well drfinined style and if we mix this sort of approach then the new sets may Be fantastic. Above and beyond the intended direction of play, these sets will evolve into colored armie building. This could be great
  24. None of it is available for PSN purchase in the US yet. The two DLC packs are still merchant exclusives. It will be a few weeks (months) before they are released for online purchase. (They are the publishers incentive to get console owners to buy new games instead of used.)
  25. The old mold was probably wearing and needed to be replaced. So they did a little updating. I wouldn't read too much into it. The swords are a classic element that they will always find a use for.
