It's so nice as a freestanding building though. If I have the space on my modular shelf what I will probably do is make a modular walled yard for it. Just extend the gate wall around the sides and back. Probably put it on a 32 x 32 and a16 x 32 baseplate, and just tile the areas the house sits on so it can be easily opened or removed. It will all depend on the depth of the haunted house. It might also make a really nice owner modular if done right. I am so looking forward to this one. Two more days

7929 The Battle of Naboo is a surprisingly nice little set, in spite of the Battle Droids and Gungans. A nice little vehicle thats a really fun build. 12 minifigs in all (2 really nice Gungams and 10 Battle Droids). all for $24.99 US assuming you can't find it for less on sale. 7957 Sith Nightspeeder, Something a bit different. The vehicle is unusual with a lot of neat parts. Weird angles and such. Some absolutely fantastic minifigs. The only reasonable way to get Ventris these days. The only fig of Savage Opress (Darth Mauls brother from TCW), who looks really great in Lego form, and a decent CW Anakin. $24.99 8092 Lukes Landspeeder. A little more old school in design, but a nice compliment to the Droid escape. Luke, Obiwan, C3PO, R2D2 and a Sandtrooper with a little spybot thingy. Nice little set. $24.99 9491 Genosian Cannon. The cannon is meh to look at but has some great parts. The figs are wonderful if you like TCW subjects. Barriss Offee, Comander Gree, a Winged Genosian and a ZOMBIE WINGED GENOSIAN. The set is worth it for the figs alone. $19.99

I thought that... then I stumbled across the latest Clone Wars Season 5 trailer today. Which shows just how gorgeous those ships look in flight and fighting. 1:12 in has a real nice shot of them. THEY MUST BE MINE!

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Faefrost replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Most licensed minifigs will only be in some form of building set. In the case of most (but not all) licenses Lego runs into the conflict of their construction toy licenses vs someone else's action figure license. (ie Star Wars and Hasbro). So they typically don't sell just figures. The major exceptions are promotional sets, such as the Lex Luther one or the Comic Con figs, or small retail poly bags like the Jetski orhe Thor or Hawkeye ones. You can pretty easily find single minifigs for purchase on Bricklink. A site dedicated to buying and selling Lego parts. -
I can't find where someone said it, but I think it was indicated that the Sith Troopers would be the red armored versions instead of the blue. (same helmet and armor, just red.)

I love this set just for the versatility. Even if you don't go in big for HP, tis set makes a great little addition to a Castle/Kingdom/Fantasy Era setting or to a Monster Fighters MOC, pretty much no modification needed. It's a great witches or woodsmans hut. And all the little details and accessories are fantastic.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion
Faefrost replied to muscleman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think it's supposed to be the babysitters baby. Which in no way diminishes how creepy it is. -
Why? The only actual set pictures or what we can view as official pics show the correct parts and colors? We have one unmarked obvious preliminary picture. It is doubtful that pic was not intended for release. But even then, they do often show us preliminary art. And they are up front about it. ( check out the pics from when the new Star Wars sets were announced a few monts ago. All of the figs from the Sith Fury and Republic Striker were preliminary or placeholders.)

Am I the only one that read the title as "CMF Monster Rockband" and had "bad 1970's kids show" flashbacks?

It's easily the best new SW type ship design in years, probably going back to RotJ. the Lego version is stunning. It's just small in overall size ( although not in weight. This is possibly one of the heaviest Lego sets I own) and a bit expensive at $90 US. (I got it for $74 with a damaged box, which seemed much better price per piece.) it has a ton of detail, a fairly interesting build, with a lot of unusual build elements, and a simply amazing swoosh ability factor (assuming you can hold it one handed for long. The sucker is heavier than it looks.) and possibly the best SW minifigs Lego has ever produced. ( granted of obscure non pop culture specific subjects from 3000 years before the movies, if you worry about such petty details.) It looks absolutely perfect in your SW hanger parked alongside a Tie Fighter or your favorite YT class freighter. It actually looks and feels like a much better interpretation of Darth Mauls Sith Infiltrator than what we got on screen. My only real complaint about it, aside from the price, is the size of the model. I realize Lego often reduces some subjects for practical purposes. The non UCS Milenium Falcon in minifig scale is way small. But this one is worse. The actual ship is not a Starfighter. It is the players personal ship. Their home as it were. By design it's interior space should be fairly similar to the crew and passenger areas of the MF (just with no cargo holds). As I said I realize some reduction in scaling is to be expected. They just went a bit too far in this case. At least they kept the rear crew compartment and it actually fits a crew. ( I still sob over how badly they shrunk the Halo).

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Faefrost replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
9:30 am on Saturdays? That doesn't sound good? Has CN lost confidence in the show? And is Commandos a show? Or a game? Because that trailer sort of screams game? Single armed character running an elaborate escort mission, just as a cutscenes, not FPS gameplay? -
That is fantastic! Very Star Warsish (plus with some color changes it would look great for a regular Space theme such as Alien Conquest or Galactic Patrol) That is fantastic! I like the use of Frenzy's head mold. For the body it might work better to use the lower half of the standard Frenzy torso ( ie a regular minifig torso) which will take a 2 stud connection on the bottom. The upper Frenzy torso is slightly narrower at the bottom ( minifig shoulder width) and is designed to connect to a head post. For the middle piece a standard 2x2x1 slope, similar to what has been used for a small child's skirt. The 4 legs may be problematic in the actual brick. In digital form you can flex them a bit to make them look leg like. But four legs side by side like that might end up simply looking like a 2x2 brick.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion
Faefrost replied to muscleman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
He's a genius! Quick someone get TLG to hire him. We need more of them Royal Guard elf types! As we get closer to Series 9 being shown, heres the key thing to evaluating any purported lists. Look at what is described in a given list. Now ask yourselves, if you dump your box of minifig parts out, and randomly recombine them, will you easily achieve every figure listed? if so than yeah, it's a fake. (other warning signs are if the figs describe accessories that are only specifically used in licensed sets. While we will see some crossover of molds. Things that are unique to the license, such as Stormtrooper rifles, will not be used in CMF's.) -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Faefrost replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I will admit that yours is one of teh ones I was specifically thinking of when I said there is some good stuff there My actor needs a stage, and my Medieval Market Village needs some entertainment beyond Saturday Night Drunken Dwarf tossing. -
The thing that may have put SW Underworld into perpetual hold is The Clone Wars. Mainly because TCW has shown them a new cheap way of making this stuff. Underworld is planned as a live action show. The costs for a Live Action SciFi show are astronomical. It's why they all get cancelled so early. Whereas Lucasfilms has discovered some amazing cost savings and creative freedoms in making TCW fully digital. Once they make something, a model, a set, a planet. They have it to reuse over and over and over. They can create anything and the costs while high, are fairly flat and stable. They have been able to show a level of exotic places and people they just could not affordably do in Live Action. This has probably had them re-evaluating their plans for Underworld a little bit.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Faefrost replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Given that they can only produce 1 set per quarter a few empty quarters with no projects passing review would be a way to catch up. The high frequency of projects hitting 10k has been new and unexpected. I don't think they expected quite as many to hit the review stage as they have recently gotten. And yeah the past few weeks of new stuff on CuuSoo seems rather universally horrid. A deep mixture of "little Billy's first LDD", blocks with wheels, and reworked Batman projects that they have either already done (twice for the Batcave, one is still on store shelves!) or that have been announced as in the pipeline. (I think I counted 3 Arkham's and 500 the Bat MOC's). But there are some interesting standout projects that will hopefully rise to the top with a bit of a nudge. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Faefrost replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
As a Collectible CMF the robot is fairly dull. But as a Space or SciFi MOC element the Robot is fantastic. The Black Red and Silver colors make him work well in oh so many ways. He can be a Superhero villain (He has a certain similarity to some of the old WW2 Robot "Sleepers" The the Red Skull used against Captain America). His red and black just screams Sith and his torso head and legs make great parts for SWTOR based Sith Warriors or Sorcerers. Just because of colors he is better for this than the original. -
I saw an add at my Lego store that the Zombie car would be a special with purchase giveaway at some point in September, to coincide, or as part of the Haunted House release. So it might not be a retail set.

CMFs: Do AFOLs and kids like the same ones?
Faefrost replied to AmperZand's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It varies wildly. A lot depends upon the adult and the kid in question. But there will be a ton of crossovers for both groups. for the kids subject and accessories matter more than printing or details. So for series 8 say, the kids (at least the younger ones) probably have little use for figs like the businessman, the DJ or the Actor. Nothing "actiony" there. Aliens, robots, the Pirate, the Diver, the Conquistador are absolute heaven for them. -
You are reading way way way too much into Lego's aversion to religious subjects. And the rules are never as hard and fast as internet layers make them out to be. The core of it we also need to keep in mind is that of culture. Lego is made in the Denmark. While Lego maintains a fairly neutral secular stance, insuring that its toys are appropriate worldwide, they are still made by a Northern Western European culture. Christmas is an important national and cultural holiday. The Advent calender is as much a holiday tradition in this part of the world as it is of religious connotation. And the people making the products have no issues with this distinction in their mind. They do not make biblical or Torah or Koran themed playsets. No Moses, No Noah. No Jesus (oh boy wouldn't an Easter set be fun!) No Mohammed sets (even more fun, plus death threats for making a prophet minifig. What a collectors item that would be!). But they have long had a history of making sets that reflect some of the cultural underpinnings that come about from religion, without directly showing practices of faith or scripture. The Christmas (or Holiday) Village sets. The Advent Calender. Assorted Eastern Temples in everything from Ninjago to Adventurers. The Prince of Persia sets. But please understand they are a Western European company. They make toys based on the cultural norms that they best understand.

New Dino Theme Idea
Faefrost replied to Lieutenant_Colonel_Fifi's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Why do I suspect you grew up in the 70's and are familiar with a certain line of classic snap together kits from a beloved defunct company? http://www.tylisaari.com/prehistoricscenes/ps.html -
I was just able to get a damaged box one from my Lego store for $49 US, which seemed to me to be a more reasoable price for the piece count. (And what do I care, I have no room to store the boxes anyway). Between this set and the "Big Hairy Spider" set I ended up with enough extra "One Rings" that I was able to fully stock the Grand Emporium's jewelry counter with horrifically cursed artifacts, and I still had one more extra for the Zombie Groom to present to his pale green Bride.

Look at some of the figs from the Dino Attack theme and the Rock Raiders theme. They have darker colors, a lot of web gear and. Those leather tanker type helmets. Also look at the current Dino theme for some jungle khaki type outfits. Also the CMF's Explorer, Pilot, Sailor, Gangster and Zookeeper all have some useful elements.

Very nice little MOC. I love the progression of people coming through. What do they do with all the wheelchair people after you drop them off to be recycled?
