  1. I like how Brickformula tends to give some really good looks at the sets without cluttering the frame with himself. He makes good use of some nice custom MOC turntables, a nice brick built studio background and a bit closer and at level camera view. Sadly he s not as prolific as some of the others.
  2. Am I just imagining things, or do you really really like hardware?
  3. Interesting? Is there really a market for this sort of thing?
  4. It looks like the League of Legends Project hit 10k with hours to spare for the Summer review deadline. So congrats to Addam. This review will be the Mini Shops, the Batman Tumbler and the League of Legends set. http://blog.lego.cuusoo.com/2013/06/03/congratulations-to-our-three-summer-review-qualifiers/ Now if only we could find out the results for last Fall... Or Winter... Or Spring... /sigh
  5. It looks like a neat concept. And am I the only one giggling at a product called a "Quick Build Demolition Derby"?
  6. So does the truck. That's hilarious. There is not one thing in that set that matches the box.
  7. I always love all of the interior detail you come up with.
  8. The Earth Defense HQ is one of the finest "Space" theme sets ever made. It is great looking, and every single brick of it is packed with wonderful play features and details. There is not a single bad part of the set. And it literally has everything. Whitecap Bay is a nice set, with some decent figs. City of Atlantis is a cool set, and is a fantastic source of MOC parts. But the savings you list isn't that great.
  9. That came out just perfect. What a superb little representation of the Pearl.
  10. They put them out with a sign that you need to be a VIP to buy one. You can sign up for VIP on the spot. So this is really more honey to get new people into their VIP program.
  11. I'm not sure that anyone would be going all out to duke it out over quicksilver? Scarlett Witch they may go all out for. She s a popular, visually distinct and well known character. Whereas Pietro can easily be swapped out with other characters in either setting. The only times he becomes important are if you are going for the creepy Jeph Loeb twins vibe (yucky!) or trying to out @zzwhole Magneto with the whole annoying son becomes like the father thing. Quicksilver is barely a footnote in Avengers and even less so in X Men. Heck Fox could just change the character to Northstar post production and nobody would ever know or notice. And bonus! They still get to keep the creepy twin vibe.
  12. Oh I like that idea. Yeah throw in an Eowyn in girl clothes minifig and it would be perfect. Maybe Shadowfax and some small build about the size and price point of Council of Elrond.
  13. I find some of the youtube reviewers useful for simply seeing a full 360 of the sets and figs. But no small children shrieking at me please. Actually no large hairy adults shrieking at me either.
  14. Interesting. I can't imagine who she might be playing? Maybe a Kree or Nova officer? She doesn't seem a good fit for any of the other major females connected to GotG? Mantis should be Asian or at least exotic. She doesn't seem right for either Moondragon or Phyla Vel. I can't see them going into the Whole Universal Church story arc. Just not something that would play well in Peoria. The only other females I can think of are Nikki from the original 70's Guardians, who was a late edition who only appeared in a few pages or maybe one of the Luminals? Or if it is a Thanos story, maybe a human aspect of Death?
  15. I think we could make a gorgeous Loth Lorien MOC using the Ewok set as a starting point. I am not sure how likely an official set of that size would be, largely because the scene and setting is pretty much absent of any play features or conflict. At that size and scale Lego would get better bang for the buck with something like Minas Tirith or Edoras or Bree. Galadriel's Realm was by definition the safest place on Middle Earth. Which makes it spectacularly beautiful... but not a lot to do within it.
  16. Gorgeous set with just a few minor nitpicks. The biggest of which, and the probable show stopper me is the price. That is steep. Even worse at that piece count. I'm also a little disapointed that they put the swinging logs/hammers trap in, but no ATST. But really the main issue is the price.
  17. Thank goodness that's a MOC. I'm having enough trouble trying to figure out where I am going to put Orthanc because of its height
  18. You have completely and utterly lost me? Are you running your posts through a translator of some sort? But yeah, CuuSoo is exclusively for new stuff. They do not allow requests for retired sets or parts to be brought back. You can propose a new motor, but simply stating or requesting that they bring something back will get deleted very quickly. It's not a matter of faith. It has to do with the design rules of the site. Remember the project designer gets a 1% royalty for sets or a flat fee for parts. As a result it has to be something new for legal reasons. You can't get a royalty from someone else's prior work. CuuSoo is setup for new unique project proposals. Not as a petition or polling site. I can understand it's a somewhat subtle distinction that can easily get confusing. But at heart whatever you put up there has to be your unique idea or proposal. So proposing longer or a new style beam is fine. Suggesting new PF elements with new control mechanisms are great. Simply requesting that they bring back faster motors will get deleted.(Whereas proposing a new design or form factor for a motor that happens to be faster would not be a problem.)
  19. That's the Crucible. It's a cruiser from somewhere not long after the SWTOR type era that survived to PT times. And yeah, it's a favorite of mine too. I think it would look perfect alongside the Tantive IV and Republic Cruisers.
  20. I would suspect that the Czech reveal will more likely be this years Winter Village set. It just seems to better fit the environment. They will probably hold the Ewok's back to announce at next months huge nerdfest where they will get a broader "not just Lego fans" audience.
  21. The pricing for a given region is not based on currency conversion. It is the costs of bringing the product to retail market in that region / expected sales + reasonable margin. The US pricing is lower because they have lower fixed costs of doing business and a higher expected total number of purchasers, so the fixed costs get spread around more. Europe has extremely high fixed costs of doing business. Transport. Real estate. Regulation. Work rules. Etc. these do add up. Australia goes the opposite way. The fixed costs are more reasonable, but they get split out amongst a much smaller population base so they get more concentrated per unit. One of the big tip offs is transportation costs. Just look at fuel prices. European are almost 3x what they are in the US. Fuel and transport will be a huge element of the cost of bringing goods to market.
  22. Just one episode so far. The aired the two earlier shows first and then the first episode of the Yoda Chronicles. It wasn't bad, but it really felt like it needs the other two episodes before we will be able to pass judgement.
  23. It's probably a matter of production scheduling. How many pieces can they generate in what colors etc. It always seems like it takes a release cycle or two before we start seeing a variety of colors in new pieces.
  24. I think there can be some variations to the Miralians skin tones. Which is why the SWTOR character seems a darker green, and the SWTOR Smuggler that I linked above has a lighter yellow tone.
