  1. Great idea for a project! Have sent my details via email :)
  2. Thanks, Peter David's X-Factor and Jamie Madrox do indeed rule! I have the full 90's team nearly (tho not all purist) aside from Strong Guy - trying to perfect a brick built version! It's the reverse of this torso: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb1127c01 It's from the Darth Maul polybag - and unfortunately it's a bit pricey to pick up. However, if you are going to use it for Wonderman, the new Nightwing torso is better. I'm upgrade my Wonderman to use that as soon as I get a spare.
  3. You are right, it does - people can imagine her with a non-decal face - pretty much any female face would be fine for her. All my minifig heads - purist and custom - are in one box so some things do sneak through my purist filter for here!
  4. Another update - I think these are all purist (aside from some coats and capes - I can't remember which are and aren't as all mine are in one bag!) From the X-Men: Professor X: Jubilee: From one of my fav teams ever - 90's X-Factor: Multiple Man: Random: Val Cooper: Assorted others: Cloak & Dagger: Darkstar: Sunder: Arcade - I don't like the hair so much on this one, have a better one on Flickr but it's non-purist: Mimic: Magik - I thought this plate would make a good teleportation disc:
  5. Must see this!! I have a couple of small updates Improved Jubilee, with different hair and the Friends pink shades (shame she can't properly wear them): Improved Dazzler with the torso suggested by autorazr earlier in the thread - definitely an improvement!: Archangel - wings idea stolen from minifigs4u's Falcon custom - but its all purist still: Sadly everything else I've done recently is non-purist, so they are confined to Flickr :)
  6. The other three sets are definitely movie tie-ins, not TV show. The Karai in the movie sets has a black hair piece with a red fringe - well at least the mock-up did - assuming they don't change it for the actual fig, it looks pretty great!
  7. It was totally unclear which one Smaug was a part of - they had him set up closer to Laketown tho - but that's not a great indication! The table was a bit of a mess and annoyingly one of the last ones we got to see which meant less time for questions. The mountain was a playset of the inside rather than anything external. I guess that makes it less likely to be based on the Bo5A bit - doesn't that all take place outside? (Again, my Hobbit knowledge is poor - not read it since I was young!)
  8. It looked most like this I think. The reiterated that he had an entirely new crown piece a couple of times. He seemed to be part of a small, surprisingly cheap set - £11.99 I think - that had three minifigs: Elrond, Witch King and Galadrial, plus a cursory bit of scenery. The Lonely Mountain set was lots of sand green and looked pretty large - with lots of gold and hidden sections for more gold and jewels. The arkenstone was just a standard blue gem, but it might have just been a preliminary as Smaug was (he was just a castle dragon standing in!) The other two (I think) sets were more of the village and one included Dain Ironfoot, the other the Bowman's Son amongst a number of other figs, but we didn't get long enough to see who they all were. I can't think of anything else about the sets that I haven't noted above - my Hobbit knowledge is a bit sketchy so only a couple of characters stuck in my head as we were rushed on to the next bit!
  9. No prob - will do my best on the Hobbit, but that was one of the last things we got to see and we got dragged away mid-sentence from that stall as we were really making our tour guide late! I'll re-read what was written and add anything else I can remember over in the Hobbit thread.
  10. No, it was a 10am tour on the day of the show (today). There were lots of bits that were hidden elsewhere in the show too - for example a lot of the Transformers and Spiderman stuff in the Hasbro stand. I presume it was to maintain the movie mystery - the Iron Man sets last year were partially hidden too to prevent spoilers. Then, the lady we spoke too said it was a Marvel decision, not Lego. It all seems to be movie-related secrecy.
  11. Honestly, I think it's overpriced. Nothing struck me about the design at all other than it didn't really look like the X-Jet and the colours seemed too bright. I really wanted to stay and talk to the superhero product lady some more but we were hurried on (I think because of the Disney guys behind us which meant they wanted to uncover the GotG sets). The best news I took away from the Superhero stuff was the fact it is becoming 'evergreen'. With that in mind, we are way more likely to get more figs/sets as time goes on (a la Star Wars where everything gets made eventually!) It seemed that it would just seat the two X-Men figs from the set - I didn't get to pick it up and look around inside it tho sadly. No tiara in the pics they had of all the figs - I checked specifically for that! Just the standard hair in white.
  12. Sorry, some of the information was not conveyed completely (I was with Barry viewing this stuff - we only had 30 mins to view everything Lego had to offer! We already made the nice lady late for her next appt. by 15 mins as we were really dragging round!). Wolverine and the Sentinel are in the set also - Wolvie with a cowl, as per the pic. The Sentinel looks less crappy in person but is still too skinny and not as imposing as I would like. But the proportions with the head seem better than the pic makes them look. I was disappointed with the X-Jet though - wasn't instantly recognisable as the X-Jet IMHO and reminded me of a bigger Ninjago plane. It is this Cyclops costume in the set, although none of the actual figs were there - just mock-up pics, but they said they would be very accurate to how they would look when produced: Whoever suggested the Chima Phoenix Bird for Jean's Phoenix effect - it is excellent for that - it was my first thought! The Mammoth big fig would also make a good purist Mammomax. Although no one will do that because he is an awful character :) And yes, we couldn't take pics in the Lego bit at all.
  13. I created a 'classic' Xavier quite a while back but can't remember if I posted him here or not. Anyway, here he is: I got the wheelchair design from minifigs.me. I have set of the original X-Men (plus Havok and Polaris) on Flickr, but I think only Havok, Xavier and Iceman are purist. Still, they look pretty cool. I'm dying for a way to make classic Mimic but can't get anything suitable...
  14. Looking forward to seeing what they have on show at London - have managed to get a press pass again which means a Lego tour - but it sucks we can't take pics (althogh it's obviously understandable!). Last year they had all the Iron Man sets - with stickers covering up certain info - the baddies name, the fact it was Heartbreaker armour - but this is mainly to prevent film spoilers rather than Lego being cagey. I'm crossing my fingers that the Marvel sets will be there!
  15. Even tho it's another Magneto and Storm doesn't seem to have a custom hairpiece, I still can't be upset about new X-Men sets! Assuming they do end up looking like this (and as it's been pointed out, they could just be preliminaries) then at least Magneto is a variant - although I hope his helmet will be purple also in the end. And if Storm ends up with that hair, it is more reusable than one with her tiara-thing would be.
  16. I like that torso - mine was just plain green and was a bit basic.
  17. I think this Daredevil is amazing: http://www.nacm-customs.com/ As for custom prints I'd like to see: more superheroes - especially X-Men characters, Doctor Who, Defenders Of The Earth, Visionaries, He-Man/She-Ra, Captain Planet...
  18. I already attempted those two looks for Dazzler earlier in the thread - these were as close as I could manage purist! For the blue outfit, I was hoping for something to jazz up the torso a bit but no ideas so far.
  19. A guide would be really awesome as I'd love to make this the way you have it in the pics!
  20. That's really nice - have supported! I have a spare large Iron Man and a couple of Firemechs - going to see if I can build it!
  21. That is a shame - I would have liked to be able to use certain potential hair pieces from the Simpsons elsewhere.
  22. I really the Little Mermaid and Brave sets - I'm impressed with this theme overall - seems a perfect fit for the Friends line.
  23. I would love a Spider-Mech! I hope we do - looks like potentially a nice reusable head for a custom Scorpion too.
  24. I was thinking that too - or maybe this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb443c01
  25. Cheers - yours too! Especially like Hope, Heimdall and Lola! Glad to see you are still making customs! I've been struggling with actual purist ones recently - about half my update on Flickr were non-purist this time around. Have you been watching Thor: The Dark World by any chance? :) I was going to have a go at the Warriors Three at some point.
