"Maybe he wants to get rid of us so he can help himself to the stuff in the boxes. If he burns the empty ones to stay warm, that'd explain the ash." Erik eyes the dagger and the axe hanging from Guts' belt worriedly. "I'll slip off somewhere else if you're gonna... keep chatting with him." He says, touching the handle of his Peacekeeper's Totem as if to ward off evil and looking back at the beggar. "I'd love to leave you alone and get on with finding this boat, but I'm afraid it looks like my boss wants to make sure there's nothing else you know." He apologises, diplomatically, before walking away and taking the Lucky Die out of a pouch to look at.
-
"Yeah." Erik says, taking another look at the sword he'd become so used to seeing. "It's certainly been useful, and I think it killed a demon, but I have these other weapons now" He stops abruptly when he hears Guts say the one-legged man isn't a real beggar. "I dunno man, why would he fake it? He's probably just a bit tired. Or drunk. They must be somewhere else along the waterfront, or maybe the ship got impounded by the Bonapartes." He says, looking down the streets running along the water's edge as he tries to think of where else to go.
-
Erik takes a few steps away from the beggar, and turns to the party. He slips Voltedge out of his belt to hand to Mizuki. "This might hit a bit harder than that fleuret, if we come up against something ethereal. He then turns to Thalion. "Is it alright if I borrow some of your old magic equipment? The staves and some gems? I'll make sure you get them back." "Odd how worked up the dragon's getting over that beggar." He mutters.
-
"Ooh thanks." Erik says, replacing his tricorne with the lucky die. "I'm all for moving on, but where are we supposed to go?"
-
Erik greets the rest of the heroes. "Yeah, quite bad relations with the Bonapartes, I seem to recall." He places a coin in the beggars cup. "I think ive seen you before. What misfortune has caused you to be here?" He asks. (OOC: sorry I'm in a rush, but he's not the ship's mage is he? Also ninja'ed.)

Yeah it's mainly relevant for lower levels, and at higher levels people tend to use grand tonics anyway.
-
Yeah, I oppose any nerfing of whatever class Guts is, because if we do he'll find some other way to be the first PC millionaire anyway, and a nerf just makes it harder for other people to catch up. Someone should make a "Millionare" class, maybe that throws money at enemies. On a related topic, I was initially worried about the lack of a "proper" healer in the party, especially for an 8-hero slasher warzone, but per shot Alchemists pay half a gold less for each heal than a cleric class. Maybe we should nerf... the price of tonics? Three times the price of a potion is quite a lot. This would encourage people to play cleric classes, which at the most recent census were the most under-represented class. Mage classes would also benefit from this, but less than healers, since mages tend to use more potions. There's also an inconsistency between the potion to grand potion ratio of gold per HP restored (2HP/G:2.5HP/G), and the tonic to grand tonic ratio of gold per ether restored (~0.33HP/G:0.5HP/G) - grand potions heal 22% more per gold than potions, and grand tonics heal 40% more per gold than tonics.

Erik meets up with some of his fellow heroes after stopping by the market. "I'll pass on the consumables, thanks, Mr Hybros."
-
Erik stops by the marketplace to have his Aquamarine imbued into his Heavy armour for 50 gold, and to buy a Tricorne from Fabian for 120 gold, leaving him with ten gold.
-
There are ten cards for each element - one with each number from one to ten.

Hey, start wearing the Rubber Gloves. And sell Erik Magnar's smaller axe.
-
Erik stumbles down a staircase, drunk as usual, and collides with the questboard. "Sorry" he mumbles, as his glazed eyes attempt to focus on one of the notices. After a few minutes with no success, he exits the hall through a doorway broken by some new hero's dramatic entrance. His footsteps leave melted puddles in the late-season snowfall as he makes his way to a barrel of rainwater and plunges his head in, sobering himself up enough to return inside and sign up for Quest #129: Flying the Coop. "I wonder if I can convince Zasies to start using a shield." Erik mutters to himself. He sees Thalion, and overhears him mention his new Artisan skills. "Excuse me, Thalion." He says, walking over and nodding to the nearby heroes. "Would you be interested in selling that Handy Shield you have there?"
-
Yeah #93 was his last quest. Wow that was 8 months ago. Some of that time I've been busy with real life stuff though. Sweet I'll sign him up then.

I believe in the sewer battle of Quest 69 someone equipped a shield without spending an action, as shields are not artifacts and it doesn't normally take a turn to equip weapons, so Kiray may be able to equip the katana and shield, giving her enough SP to negate any damage, and still make an attack. Also I'd love to sign up Erik for #129 but I'll be away from about the 4th to the 13th of April, and I may very well have no internet access, so it looks like he might have to catch up with Zasies some other time.

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion

I don't see that problem; since you're using health, you don't have the 50+ pool of ether to power your spells you'd have with most level 50 classes. Except for the Shield roll, where it's all basically free. Maybe have the Shield roll not heal the Demonologist? Perhaps it could give him some other buff instead, like bonus power = level, or one of the effects or something. Also Mortal healing means when you heal yourself, you heal whatever damage you've taken plus a bit more. -
Someone could perhaps make an artifact that does that, though - Elemental master's cloak: Immune to *Element* > Absorbs *Element*, backwear. Or whatever.
-
That's what the Illuminati QM society would have you believe, isn't it? Wake up, sheeple!

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion

But it's not nearly useless; I'm pretty sure it can cast spells of any element, and it's shield skill still stuns and slows various enemies, as well as hitting one for Critical Hit damage even if they're all Icy. The Ice companion's spellcasting is useless against Icy enemies, but it can still make standard attacks, so while it's less effective against Icy enemies than it is against Beasts, Plants and Vermin, it's still not nearly useless. -
Actually since Donna is Undead/Humanoid, Darksten's Spider String Bow does double damage. Undead is neutral against Darkness.
-
You're only risking a fragment of your soul, Docken, not a fragment of your Adamantite.

If something really major had happened to Endgame, he just would have come back with better stats anyway.

"No, I haven't. I've got a strange feeling those sailors we met looking for that assassin are going to need help in the near future. Besides, this magic takes a bit of getting used to." Erik says, waving his fingers mystically and causing a small fire to smoulder in his hair, before he frantically puts it out.
-
I believe Tesni hitting one with Mellt from the back row would leave it on between 14 and 53 health on anything but Damage or Special Damage. The Ice and Lightning cancel each other out, and the Encouraged is negated by the back row.
-
Erik walks to the table and slides 40 gold between Pretzel and Dyric. "There's your other 40. You gave me that gem, after all."

That over an image of the Regret picking himself up and laughing sounds right.
