Actually perhaps having druid only revive allies with 1 HP after they heal the rest of the party would be better than increasing the ether cost?
-
"Simple enough. Beat up everyone in the barracks, then go through checking the other rooms until we meet up with the rest of you." Erik rests his axe on his right shoulder, with his left hand at the bottom of the shaft, and his right hand somewhere in the middle. "I'm ready to go."

Druid is definitely a change that needs to be made, I think. I also like the buff to evoker. I think 2x level should also apply to summon burst as well. Black knight's Nerf makes sense. I don't like the proposed change to paladin. It's a tank shield, and it does its job really well - better than any other tank shield. Temporarily removing negative effects during the guardian Angel round would be alright, but not completely removing them. Ether cost for the shield roll is not something I have much of an opinon on, but it would make the current battle in #127 quicker. I don't like the proposed ether cost for shaman. It's a small change, but I think the reason you'd choose shaman over another class is its versatility and not having to buy as many tonics. Shaman usually does less damage than sage, and its healing is less useful than druid, but it could pull of a shield without ether, and its blood ritual always damaged the target. (As long as party members had lost HP, anyway). Disclaimer: for some reason shaman is a fairly popular class, so maybe I'm wrong. (Gasp! Me, wrong!?)

Erik shudders, wraps his hand around the shaft of his axe and rethinks his request that they keep the enemy soldiers in one piece.Erik bows to the dragoon and her dragon. "Pleasure to meet you both. Will you be joining in the fighting, or just dropping us off?" He is ready to attack the island.
-
"'Course not. I just figured they'd probably know where your crew is, and if there are spare cannons stowed away somewhere." "I'm ready to go."
-
Erik bows to the captain. On hearing her story, he looks horrified. "Even Zasies?" He hesitates, but with Zasies in danger there's really no choice. He has a bit of an awkward teenage crush on the Selkreeth berserker. Oh, plus some of the Bonapartes are in league with Necromancers. "I'm with you, but I don't want to watch if you have to torture any of them. And if we can leave the grunts in as few pieces as possible I'd appreciate it. Most of them probably are just following orders." "All I've seen of the Wolfgang are those cowards instigating the riots, and more cowards robbing a little gnome city, so I don't have high hopes. They might be better than the houses, I don't know."
-
Erik had gestured to the Titanic Axe. "Got this from one of the riot leaders. Besides that riot, it was definitely a worthy quest." "Thanks Thalion." Erik said, accepting the equipment.
-
I expect I'll actually have internet most of the time, but if anyone in Quest #129 wants to give actions for Erik if I'm holding things up that would be appreciated.
-
Gontzo? Erik's hand twitches towards his axe as he sees the slug, but he soon realises this is just another member of the same species. He sticks his thumb through his belt, trying to look casual, and follows Guts to the third door on the right.
-
Erik takes a seat on a stoney Wight, feeling dizzy from the strain of all the spellcasting. The voice in his head doesn't help. He opens his helmet's visor and wipes some blood from beneath his nose. "I'm ready to get going whenever you all are." He thanks Hybros for the loot, but hands over the Crystal Ball, as well as his Gold Statuette, 3 Torches, Chair, Grand Elixir, 4 Tonics, Nostrum, Venom, Ether Core, Remedy, 3 Potions, Health Core, and Shamanic Plate. (+20 items). "So you can make gold out of stuff, hey? Maybe you can use these to help cover the cost of all the potions you've been using." He also turns to Thalion. "Mind if I borrow some gems and Alpha and Omega?"
-
"Oops." Erik changes target to wight d, and repeats. (Front row, darkstar wand).
-
Erik should be on 3 or 11 HP from his round 9 counter, depending on how cursed works. Erik pulls out the Darkstar Wand and swings it at Wight E from the front row.
-
Erik attacks Wight D with the Titanic Axe from the front row.
-
Erik's ether should be down to 20 now, and everyone is Doomed, right? "Haha!" Erik laughs, thrilled to have hacked and blasted his way through a few more enemies, but starting to feel the strain of casting so many powerful spells in such a short space of time. He hefts his Titanic Axe and takes a swing at Wight D from the front row.
-
The horrid noise of one of the wights knocks Erik to the wooden boards of the wharf again, but Hybros' Neutralizer allows him to get back to his feet and repeat his attack against Wight A from the Front Row with the Titanic Axe. "Why are we killing him, anyway?" He says, before pausing as he ducks under something lethal-looking, then staggers slightly as something glances off his armour. "I mean, he won't be the first Cold Circle necromancer I've killed, but shouldn't we be looking for this boat?"
-
Erik repeats his attack against Wight A with the Titanic Axe, but this time moves to the front row
-
The ice from the owls prevents Erik from attacking, but in the event this is remedied he attacks Wight A from the back row with the Titanic Axe, topaz ready in case of shield.
-
Feeling Guts' Purifying Water wash over him and clean the noise and gunk out of his head, Erik climbs to his feet and charges through the cloud of Cravens to attack Wight A from the front row with the Titanic Axe. Topaz in case of shield.
-
Pretty sure Erik did too much damage. 2x for light vs dark, /2 for earth vs flying, /2 back row. Would still have taken down one craven, but they'd be up 29 HP. Erik falls to his knees at the wight's horribly shriek, but tries to shake off its stunning effects and fend off the Craven Murder with his Titanic Axe. Back row, Topaz on a shield roll.

The "absolutely no pistols" ruling was, as has been said, around the time of quest #30, 3 years ago real-time. The first Ji Pei wasn't until 20 quests later, at #50. Given the apparent sophistication and prevalence of automatons, vibratophones, iconographs or whatever we're calling cameras, and airships these days, I wouldn't be surprised if technology has advanced to the point where bandits could conceivably carry pistols. However, since I still remember this topic coming up 3 years later, it must have been pretty major at the time, so I wouldn't be opposed to making doubly or triply certain before the quest #131 party meet Brickchard Gatling and get a ride back to the hall in his prototype helicopter gunship. Yay! I was hoping you'd say that

As it turns out, it's pretty hard to hit a bird in flight, and after a lot of swinging, even with his electrified axe Erik finds he hasn't managed to kill a single one of the birds. He scowls and swings the Titanic Axe again at the Craven Murder, this time from the Back Row. He still has his Topaz ready for a shield.
-
Erik drops his axe to cover his head with his arms as stone owls rain down around him. He looks at them, all turned to little statues. "Did I just Petrify all of them?" He mumbles to himself through the Topaz still held in his mouth, picking the Titanic Axe back up to swing at the Craven Murder from the Front Row.

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Myrddyn replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Another suggestion for Alchemist is that the Chrysopeia roll consumes one/some random consumable/s from the Alchemist's inventory. The number of consumables consumed could be based on the amount of gold generated? Say, destroys one consumable for every 100 gold, or something. -
"Cold Circle are necromancers. I don't know what their grand plan is, but I doubt it involves us. Might as well kill 'im while we're here, though, I guess." Erik clamps his Topaz between his teeth, lets out an awkward yell, and jumps into the mass of Snowy Owl Peck Mob B, hacking at the owls with his Titanic Axe. (Front Row, melee attack, Topaz is just for shield rolls.)

He stops around a nearby corner, though, within earshot in case something happens. Sorry I thought that might merge.
