Attention! Ideas for armies of the four French and Indian Wars
Mister Phes replied to Francis Marion's topic in LEGO Pirates
Have these torso designs been printed and applied the mini-figures - or have they been digitally added? -
Yes I did! But do not fear, maybe one day you can build ships like that. I know I certainly can't, but I don't really want to either X-D
-
So you paid US$50 for the above ship? You do realise you could buy the real deal for around that price on BrickLink? At the time of writing there is one for US$45. Sure it's second hand, but at least it's the real thing.
-
Yes, it would appear they have, but WHY would they do this? Surely not out of incompetence. You think Chinese water torture would be more appropriate?
-
DOH!!! Someone has been spending too much time designing skins lately.

EB Pirates Episode 2 - Welcome to Port Paraiso!
Mister Phes replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
I found episode 2 to be horrendously entertaining and amusing! When I was reading it I was hoping that it didn't come to a sudden end - and fortunately for me it didn't - I think it was the right length. I can see a lot of work has been put into this comic and the extra effort has really paid off. The effects like smoke, fire and lens flares really add another dimension to it and I'd commend whoever donated that lens flare plug-in to you X-D My biggest nitpick would have to be the photography, but only in some shots where the focal point has been placed on the wrong part of the picture. In the below example it should be on the pirate who says "7 vadems, sir!": As you can see the focal point is set more towards the middle of the ship, but as there is action and dialogue taking place in the left hand side of the shot, that is where the focus should be. -
The New Pirate Forum Skin - Have your say
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Times New Roman was used a stylistic choice because Serif Fonts were more frequently used in the past. But if it really interferes with the legibility of the text I'll change it to Veranda. I don't use McAfee but I assume it has an option that allows you to exclude certain websites. All can I suggest is find this option and put www.eurobricks.com on the exclusions list. Either that or disable McAfee when you're about to make a post. -

Thanks for altering me to that. It's easily fixed but I'm not going to make any further changes to the skin for a couple of days to enable me to get other things done. But it will be fixed! -
Guide to the Pirate Mini-Figures - The Complete Series
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Unfortunately the response to Part IV hasn't been as good as the previous three, so we probably won't be seeing Part V in April. There are definitely plans for it, but as there doesn't seem to be a huge demand for Part IV then Part V might not appear till June. Thank you for your kind words Lord Bonaparte, but the layout could use a lot of improvement and some of the images are grainy and downright horrible. -
Actually, I like the old one better :-P The design looks a lot more cohesive whereas the new version appears to have bits added for the sake of adding them which kind of interferes with the consistency of the materials. The back of the old one almost looks like it could be an official set:

I also have the same trouble determining whether a creation is a MOC or a vignette. There was one particular creation I named MOCETTE: Money Can't Buy You Everything because it seems somewhere in between a MOC and Vignette.

I've used MLCAD (Mikes LEGO CAD (Mikes LEGO Computer Aided Design X-D )) but never LDD. To my knowledge LDD is required to run MLCAD so I presume I have LDD, but what's the difference? Does anyone know what the differences are between the two?
-
I think you should build it for real! Are you going to do so, or will this only be a LDD design?
-
I realise vignettes are small and do allow much space but this one looks very "busy" in the sense it appears to be overcrowded. Perhaps it's just the camera angle. Anyway, great job! *y* That captain appears to taking more than his fair share of the rum so he deserves everything that's coming to him! X-D
-
Well if it's that simple then why don't you build something a bit more complex? :-P
-
The LDD version of the ship wasn't looking terribly exciting to me, but after seeing it built I thought it look far more magnificent. I think I like the bow of the first version better, the second version looks too rounded like a speeder from Star Wars or something like that.

Unfortunately Col. Whipstick is somewhere between South Africa, England and Australia at the moment. It's unknown as to when he's going to resurface.

Attention! Ideas for armies of the four French and Indian Wars
Mister Phes replied to Francis Marion's topic in LEGO Pirates
Then all you need do is acquire the heads and chop them from their bodies! But from what I gather the Indian mini-figures aren't that common and therefore would be expensive and rare, therefore making them a not very viable option. -

I've dropped it down a size. I do a gree it looks better. -

I suppose it could be a size smaller. -

Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
The reason it's bigger is to improve legibility. If I make text smaller then it'll become more difficult to read because of the texture in the background. So it's either keep the same size text, or shrink it and remove the parchment texture background. As I have a resolution of 1650 x 1080 it doesn't seem too big to me, but on a smaller resolution that might be a different matter. -

What do you mean by waves to the bottom? There's no waves to the bottom on Classic-Pirates.com! -

I see what you mean now. I think I've resolved that problem. Let me know if it works for you. -

I have changed the font and it's size, plus made it bold - is that not helping? It looks fine on my end. -

It already does get darker as it goes down to about 500 pixels... But exactly how tall does the image file need to be?
