What French Polynesian Women really look like
Mister Phes replied to cyclone501's topic in LEGO Pirates
The information in the first post would probably be presented better like this... = -
Third Vignette today! Cult members grand finale :P
Mister Phes replied to cyclone501's topic in Pirate MOCs
Cyclone501, here is a is a link to the Batch Image Resize Tutorial. Even though the forum automatically resizes large images, it only does so when they're full loaded and large images put strain on those with slower Internet connections. -
Which "bird species" could be introduced to the Pirate Theme
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I almost regret adding chickens to this poll because I don't care if the bird has versatility in other themes!!! -
We don't have confirmation that there will be any new Pirate sets in 2009. I'm not entirely sure what Legomilk was trying to communicate but I interpreted it as "There is a new Pirate mini-figure in Denmark, but who knows, maybe a new theme in 2009?"
-
It's great that you've posted these images Cyclone, but have you not read out our image resize tutorial? I'm sure we've provided you with the necessary URL so you can learn how to resize images.
-
The auctions are over folks so you'll have to wait for some more to appear! Since these are eBay auctions you have to bid for them on eBay. Too late now anyway.
-
Egad! Have we found this month's poll topic already? But what if the flag is hanging straight down?

Which "bird species" could be introduced to the Pirate Theme
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Observe the inverted commas around "bird species" - they're to compensate for the fact a title like"Which taxonomic families of bird with the exception of chicken (which is more specifically a member of the genus Gallus) could be introduced to the Pirate Theme" is too lengthy for an effective thread title and poll topic. -
Who's that coming over the ridge, French? The Prussians!
Mister Phes replied to Fordo's topic in Pirate MOCs
What's happened to Mosana lately - we haven't heard from him in a while? -
This rather fine creation doesn't seem to be getting much discussion. We better Newsletter it!
-
Will you get time to see the real thing and take photos?

Who's that coming over the ridge, French? The Prussians!
Mister Phes replied to Fordo's topic in Pirate MOCs
These armies look pretty good! I think the thread could benefit with a resized picture or two in the first post though. -
And why do you mention this? Do you want someone to buy these Imperial Guards for you as a present?
-
You can use these auctions to benchmark your pricing. At the moment the most expensive of the auctions is £13.06 which is probably a little bit on the cheap side for Imperial Guards in my part of the world. Still another day or so to go though. Ho! Ho!

Yes so far, but unfortunately it's not very far at all. It would be great if there were all the necessary pieces to design awesome ships on LEGO Digital Designer!
-
In under a week it'll be time for the May Newsletter! And yes, we take requests for content!

You certainly raise a good point, as this IS official merchandise from the Pirate section of a LEGO theme park, and one would think the design would be more identifiable with LEGO. But let's think about it from a marketing perspective... The folks at Disney have already established a design which proliferated into recent popular culture and therefore easily identifiable. In the case of SYSTEM Pirate LEGO, kids under 10 weren't even born when the last Pirate LEGO sets were seen on shelves. For this reason these kiddies are more likely to identify with a Pirates of the Caribbean design rather than some design based on a LEGO theme discontinued over 10 years ago. Of course someone can come along and inform me the theme park is very 4+ Pirate orientated and ask why wasn't the design based on those?
-
I don't think your "side-tracking" removes it too far away from being a Pirate MOC. Do you have the option to back and make changes?
-
Yes, it's quite an imaginative little tale! I can't help but notice the images look very "blue" - it looks like the levels need adjusting.
-
I don't think it really has that "SYSTEM Set" aesthetic though. Hmmmmm... Or does it?

Way to make a minifig-usable grappling hook.
Mister Phes replied to cyclone501's topic in LEGO Pirates
You mean real grappling hooks or LEGO grappling hooks? Is there a LEGO grappling hook? It seems like something you'd find in a Batman set.
