The eBay Ads can now be disabled - Upgrade

I can even see the cookie in my Firefox. Not that it matters, just so long as it works... Simonwillems who has an older computer running Windows 98 reports this works for him so that's a promising sign. -
Looks like we already have our August poll topic. Well that certainly saves as bother

How do we know these are new products? They seem to be in his "misc" folder along with a picture dating back to the launch of Pirate LEGO in 1989.

Why are Pirate LEGO UK eBay Auctions so darn cheap?
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yes, you're right, the final price is what really counts. If you check the first post of this thread you'll see I've been recording the final price of the auctions after they've ended. But completed items? Until you mentioned I'd never heard of them to be honest, but looking at the Advanced Search page I see checkbox for them. How long ago was that feature added? -
This MOC has a quite nice aesthetic style, I think we'll frontpage it!

It's low here too according to some... I notice the UK prices have improved slightly since I created this thread, yet I still wonder if that's because this thread brought them to people's attentions. Nonetheless, there are still several good deals, like: 6271 Imperial Flagship ~ £13.49 6261 Raft Raiders ~ £3.25 6285 Black Seas Barracuda ~ £32.00 -

Thank you Mr Tiber! Bout time I fixed that typographical error... Done! Now, it would be really helpful if the other 5-6 other people who've viewed this thread could test out Ad Disable feature and report whether its working for them. -
UPDATE!!! I have upgraded the eBay Advertisement code. This means if you previously disabled the eBay Advertisements then they may appear gain. Quite simply turn them off again and if there are any problems, report them here. Good news everybody! The eBay advertisements can be now be disabled or enabled at any time. You'll need Javascript and cookies enabled for this to work. By default they should enabled so it's just a matter of clicking the Turn Advertisements Off link, wait 10 seconds and then the page should refresh without the ads. It works fine on Internet Explorer 6 and FireFox 2.5 on my end. Everyone try this now and report the outcome

Well good luck! Let us know it goes. Have you ever considered selling it on eBay? That might be your next course of action if you don't get any interest from the forum.

CONTEST: Pirate Smiley Wars - has started!
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Microsoft Paint won't do the job because it doesn't support transparent backgrounds. Remember this program is ancient, it was released in 1993 and hasn't had many upgrades since. Looking for a free program that can do the job? download GIMP -
I find it quite interesting that someone is auctioning this: Imperial Trading Post Ship in the US Yes, this is from an official LEGO set!!!

Does this mean you've scuttled her captain and won't be adding sails?

CONTEST: Pirate Smiley Wars - has started!
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
It says between Sunday the 3rd and Saturday the 10th. Maybe I should I have written from Sunday the 3rd till Saturday the 10th. That seems like a good idea You are the man! That's just makeing a slight modification an existing smiley, so no... You'll need to put in a bit more work than that. Possibly. The face already exist so it depends how it stacks up against the other entries. It's best to come up with something completely original. -
Welcome to our latest experiment! This is how it works: Users submit their custom smileys between Sunday August 3rd and Saturday August 10th. The following week the best smileys will be selected for a vote off and whichever smiley gets the most votes gets added to our Smiley Collection. There may be up to 5 voting categories depending on the number of entry. Here's a blank smiley to start you off: The rules It must retain the Eurobricks Smiley aesthetic - can't look like it came form somewhere else. It must resemble a LEGO pirate, Soldier, Imperial Guard, Islander, Imperial Armada or something Pirate LEGO related. It must have a transparent background. You must figure out how to do this otherwise your smiley will be rejected. MS Paint DOES NOT support transparent backgrounds. Looking for a free program that can do the job? download GIMP Must be in GIF format. Unfortunately Internet Explorer 6 doesn't support PNG transparency so for this reason PNGs will not be accepted. It must be within the standard Pirate Smiley dimensions I.e. no more than 35 pixels wide by 20 pixels high. Not all smileys will be selected for the vote off, so if yours doesn't make the poll that's a hint that it needs improving. Revise and try again next round. We reserve the right not to add any new smileys to our smiley collection. We will determine the number of voting categories and which voting category the smiley is allocated. Entrants may enter more than one smiley providing each smiley is substantially different. Variants of the same smiley are not accepted. Entrants must number their smileys, even if they only enter one smiley. So the first smiley is "1", the second "2" and so on... Round one has started Post your entries in this thread. Any questions? Ask them in this thread only When is the next building competition with real prizes? There is something BIIIIG in the pipeline. No more shall be revealed at this stage.

£56.16! Ay caramba! But very well done all the same! I agree with Phred, the bow and stern need to be a little shorter because the hull reminds me of a skateboard ramp

Why are Pirate LEGO UK eBay Auctions so darn cheap?
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I thought global economy was a problem for most regions at the moment. I'm wondering if it's because many UK sellers only specify they only post to the UK... By doing so many potential buyers may not take the initiative to ask if they post elsewhere... Anyway, I'm noticing some OK prices, still cheap compared to Australia but they do manage to get above the £0.99 starting point. Currently at £0.99 6266 Cannon Cove 6256 Islander Catarmaran 6244 Armada Sentry 6259 Broadside's Brigg 6262 King Kahuka's Throne SOLD FOR 6257 Castaway's Raft - £4.20 6260 Shipwreck lsland - £7.50 6265 Saber Island - £15.49 6260 Shipwreck lsland - £5.50 6257 Castaway Raft - £5.50 -
Why are Pirate LEGO UK eBay Auctions so darn cheap?
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
LEGO sells cheap in Beligum or Europe in general... I think my problem is Pirate LEGO is more expensive in Australia than anywhere else. People just seem to pay more for it. For example: In Australia, a used Black Seas Barracuda just sold for AU $202.50 or 123.636 Euro... See auction here As for a MSIB BSB, the cheapest currently on BrickLink is US$299.95 (191.39 Euro) going all the way upto US$549.99 (350.00 Euro) - and that's for the 2002 reissue. As I recall it only cost around US$120 when it was reissued so that's far more than the original value. I would very much like to see a MSIB Black Seas Barracuda sell for less than US$200 ANYWHERE online at this point in time! As for a MSIB Eldorado Fortress - currently US$356.00. That must be over double its original value, getting close to triple in fact. Which countries were they available to? -
Why are Pirate LEGO UK eBay Auctions so darn cheap?
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Looking at auctions at the bottom of the forum I currently see 224 in the USA and 111 in the UK. Now lets do some maths. USA has approximiately 304M people while UK has approximately 60M so I shall population divided by auctions Theres enough pirate LEGO on eBay for everyone 1 in 1,357,142 people in the USA. Theres enough pirate LEGO on eBay for everyone 1 in 540,540 people in the UK. (That's if one auction was given to one person) So as you can see there's almost 3 times more Pirate LEGO auctions in the UK, so it's definitely more abundant there. I disagree, it depends on the sets and yes some haven't appreciated much but a MSIB Skulls Eye Schooner will often fetch over US$450 some even US$500. Those sets are like investments now. Belgium definitely is a cheaper region. Always has been for some reason... I must figure out the reason. Now the auctions previously mentioned have been sold and they fetched decent prices, but was that because I brought them to everyone's attention or would they have done this anyway? Perhaps I should have conducted a baseline test by observing the final bid price before asking the question. Ah well... SOLD FOR 6257 Castaway's Raft - £4.20 6260 Shipwreck lsland - £7.50 6265 Saber Island - £15.49 -
Well this certainly is a nice touch! Is there an official LEGO anvil piece? Maybe that would be a prime candidate for ImperialShadows What Elements Would You Like to See, and Why? thread? They certainly are pricey, shame about at that though because you demonstrated that LDD has great potential for Pirate MOCs.

Which pieces would you like to see in future pirate sets?

Hey is there an official LEGO anvil piece yet?
