  1. Ahoy all - a little open mike session for all of you. If you were to sum up what happened to Corrington in Era I, what events or developments would you emphasise? Creativity is encouraged and everyone is welcome to join in. Obviously, not everything will make it into the final project, but the input will be valued regardless.
  2. Dear secretary, P. S. Captain-Captain Bowditch, I know not if it is customary for secretaries of state of Eslandola to commit to such matters without consulting peers and sovereign, but in Corrington we believe in order and reasonable debate, so you will forgive for my inconclusiveness for now and for not being able to quite live up to your standards of rapidity! Best regards Don Isaac Montoya Consul PS. Neither sovereign, stadtholder, prime minister, nor president, but Consul!
  3. Honourable secretary Bowditch, On behalf of her Royal Majesty, Queen Anetta of Corrington, I extent our thanks for the honour and friendship your offer conveys. Our sovereign will advice with the Parliament and return with a reply at her earliest convenience. Your humble servant Don Isaac Montoya Consul
  4. Uhhh, what a cliffhanger! Congratulations to Ayrlego, conqueror of worlds, for adding yet another island to the Crown! ;) What will we ever do with all that land? Sell it off to highest bidder, perhaps? :P And great job everyone! Brilliant entries all around!
  5. Amusing, professor! Sand or no sand, micro or forced perspective, I really like your take on the native city - well done!
  6. Nice looking little pier, professor.
  7. Great looking builds all around and interesting story!
  8. Seems like someone might have found a city of gold! Beautiful bell, Captain!
  9. Beautiful riverscape and very impressive pyramid, Ayrlego. As always, your pictures really stand out beautifully, and I very much enjoy your vegetation and landscaping. As always, it is a pleasure collaborating with you - I only hope we (especially myself... :P ) can do a better job of timely coordination in the future! ;)
  10. Great looking waterfall, Silentwolf. It is a shame time got the better of us so that we botched our timing a bit, but I have to say, this waterfall came out brilliantly, both in terms of size and execution. I like the look of the waterfall itself, and the rockwork is really nice too, both on the front and on the back. I think the shadow below the waterfall works brilliantly, and the landscaping up top is nice. All in all great build that makes a proper entrance for a golden city!
  11. Another classic Braunsfeld. I enjoyed the read and I think you have illustrated it brilliantly. I particularly enjoy the details you have built into the sand. I am not generally a fan of mixing yellowes with fleshies, but you use them particularly for Mardierians which works fairly well. Overall, amusing entry.
  12. Nice take on a BoBS-ified version of Indiana Jones. Your 32x32 is a nice jungle build with some very lively posing. I would have liked to see something like rockwork or ruins on the side to break up the jungle, but otherwise, it is a really nice build. The submarine scene... erhm... I mean warship scene... is nice too, although the vessel doesn't have the finish and style we have come to expect from you :) The last scene is beautiful in its simplicity, and I am really impressed how you managed to get two photos out of such a little scene. Very good! Your pictures appear a little yellow and grainy (especially the first one), as if taken with a simple camera at bad light? You could try correcting white-balance with a free program like GIMP or something along those lines, but preferably, better lighting setup should probably be on your wishlist. Overall, a very nice entry, which is only better pictures and a bit of finish from being excellent.
  13. I think these are some of your best builds to date, Faladrin. The lava scene is looking brilliant and reminds me of the Temple of Doom from Indiana Jones and the use of a border is perfect for this little build. The gatehouse build on the old raised baseplate works well, and you have some nice vegetation. The decoarations on the wall carries over to the last build, which really ties them well together. I like the story too, especially how you tie in a story line we have long heard very little about. My only suggestion would be to have someone read it before posting for stylistic advice. Overall, very nice entry.
  14. Overall nice build and story, Maxim. I am guessing you would still like some feedback, so let me lead you through my judging process. :) Story First of all, I am a big fan of collabs, which is a big plus in my book. For collabs, it is really important to tie the story well together and make it easy to read. In this case, the story is tied in well, but the tie isn't too close. Perhaps some recurring characters, or some thicker story elements could help. Currently the "only" thing carried over is some intelligence. A small scene of Damaximus receiving the message, and sending out the expedition would show us another step in the process, which is currently a bit vague. Other than that, I think the story for this part of the build is well thought-out, although the language seems a bit staccato to me from time to time. I personally prefer some measure of poetical flourish, and you could ask one or two of your fellow Eslandians to read the story and give feedback before posting. Overall, nice work, though. Presentation Your pictures are clear, well-lit and the background doesn't disturb the pictures and your choice of angles and use of close-ups work well to tell the story. I have seen better pictures in light and colour, but these are pretty good. Build Massive build with no empty parts. Nice idea with the burned down village, and fairly good landscaping. Both your landscaping and the ruins do appear a bit blocky in places, though. For the ruins, working with plates interspersed with bricks, rather than mainly bricks could give them a more ruined look, and working on fewer right angles in the landscaping could help too. I like the use of black to show charred bits, but think you could have used it even more (especially if you used more 1xX plates in the ruins). Perhaps some charred roof beams and the like could add to the build. I am aware that at this scope, though, finishing details can sometimes suffer. A few detractors from my side (personal opinion): I am not a fan of mixing fleshie and yellow figs. (Honestly, I don't like fleshies at all, but that is up to people to decide :) ) It makes the fleshies look so strange and pale, and just doesn't look right to me. Second, I am not a fan of "silly elements", at least not unless they have a good explanation. What are those two eyes on the rockface for? I don't get it, and to me, it distracts me from the build. Overall Overall, I think this is a very good entry, and the size alone makes for a very impressive build. Personally, I would probably lower the ambition level sizewise a bit, and put more focus into the finish and details of the build. That said, I really like the well thought-out story, and the many scenes of the build. Well done.
  15. Great looking inn, Sir Stig. I really like the story, and your presentation is good. I particular like the interior and the surroundings of the inn. The elevated street and the little pond make the scene look realistic, and I enjoy the colourful interior and the lively scenes you have going on in there.
  16. I actually have a sailboat, albeit a very small one ;) And the Caribbean is a bit far of from Denmark, but it does sound appealing. PArticipate in the building RPG "Brethren of the Brick Seas" with your stories, builds, and ideas. If you read up a it more on the thread I linked, it will probably make more sense ;)
  17. Nice little warehouse Phred. I like the roof and the little quay locked in between the rocks and the surroundings are nice too. Generally, these little out of the way sort of builds are getting too little love, and it is particularly fantabulous that you have put it in a proper setting. @Mjazzw7: You are new here, and we all need to learn the ropes. So just hang in there, respect the moderators, and remember to stick to commenting on recent builds and posts :) Also, if you have any questions to BoBS, this thread is the place to go and ask : Welcome on Eurobricks and in BoBS in particular! Are you looking to participate? Judging by your profile pic, I would guess you like pirates :)
  18. Dear all, If you want to reclaim your BoBS prize for a SoNE build, post a link in this thread and include who you are building for. Remember that empire and rebel players are still eligible for the participation prize. :) For the Black Sun
  19. Aaand, the black sun squeezes in amother entry (hopefully in time): Thanks for letting us join up - was fun to try something new!
  20. It had proven a good day. The Black Sun had given Viqia a nice advance on her pay, and she was strolling through the palace corridors happy that she could now afford reoutfitting her starship after her latest... mishap. And so far, all she had done was capitalising on her reputation. Perhaps I needn't even do anything to earn this pay, she thought, as the Black Sun seemed more focused on keping her in their retinue than actually giving her any work. Lost in her own thoughts, some moaning and mumbling reached her ear from shat appeared to be a wounded rebel pilot. "They are coming... Bounty hunters... Ruthless...." Just outside the blast doors, in another long corridor, a group of Imperial bounty hunters were moving in on the throne room. Rumours that the Empire was interested in prince Xizor had attracted the boldest and bravest of the underworld scum. One of them hit the switch for the door... ...which would be the last thing he ever did! Viqia fired a shot through his face with her trusty blaster rifle... ...and dived for cover. It seemed she might have to earn her pay anyway...
  21. Guys, I think you are seeing ghosts :) Era II will do a lot to make privateering more attractive (regardless of Faction), and I don't think you will be disappointed. The mrca II is still being hammered out, but I personally have great expectations for it :D So let's see where this goes before we yell "wolf" :)
  22. Fist of all, it puts you firmly in the (arguably large :P) category of people who didn't understand that it was meant as a joke... :P Second, though, how do you define wealth? :P I am pretty sure that many new(-ish) players would think you rather rich with all those ships ;) At least they represent a considerable asset value :) On pirates: Yes, I am confident we will introduce some monetary cargo value to prizes (probably dependent on cargo hold size). If not, remind us. However, you are to consider that the captured prize also represents a considerable value, although not in terms of liquidity. So for balance sake, the cargo value will probably not be similar to trade value. Last, remember that high upkeep only applies to players who send out large fleets. Sending out a limited number of vessels results in entirely different levels of upkeep. :)
  23. Let's avoid adding too many new mechanics in general (eg. Repairs and new crew). In any case, adding some form of "loot" to ships taking prizes should be very easy.
