As someone who generally prefers mini figures to sets I am glad we're getting SoG as well as/rather than another movie wave. I also have to say that I prefer how the costumes look in the leaked pictures so far. I feel the movie suits are all too dark, bland and similar due to their heavy usage of black/dark colours, with the exception of Zane who in turn sticks out like a sore thumb (note I don't own Nya yet, so this opinion may change). I much prefer how the 2018 suits are looking due to how colourful and, in turn, more unique they all come across. I'm also curious about the new spinner you, especially if it provides us with a cheaper way to get the six ninjas or an alternative design like Airjitzu did a few years back. Of course my opinion could change when the photos are released but for now I'm liking what I've seen.

I feel the same way. While I do like how the new suits look, I have to say I'm pretty meh on the wave in general so will focus more on the the cheapest sets to get me the six ninjas and/or buying them loose on eBay, and maybe get two of each so I can give them their old faces and hair. I have also been curious about the future of Ninjago after the movie; will it continue with the "old continuity" or continue to follow the movie one? Personally, I'm hoping for the former and treat the movie as it's own separate iteration. -

I'm surprised the upcoming figure is Lloyd, as they've not done him before. In fact I ended up making my own "version" as I wasn't expecting them to make one of him. The Vermillion figure does look great and I will get it, but I hope this doesn't mean they'll skip Nya. I know I can just buy one off eBay, and I am looking into it but she's seemingly rare and expensive so one from a magazine will be a little easier on the wallet. -

While I agree, I am glad to see Lego add a Dao to their lineup of molds, and hope it means some kind of Chinese Warrior is on the cards for a future CMF line. -

Oh you're not alone; I think he's one of the best in the wave (but then I am very picky on which ones I get and 90% of the "City" ones are an instant pass for me). I can see him working well in my "warriors" display (even though I've avoided gun wielding characters, at least until now). It's a simple design but one I like and I may get a second to try and customise him into an assassin, as I've heard some make the comparison. I think the problem is, as others have said, Lego bending over backwards to hide him for reasons that still baffle me.- 1,421 replies

I agree with both, but at least the review says it's a common figure. I never bothered with Mr Gold due to how rare (and admittedly unappealing) it was.- 1,421 replies

As someone who played (and loved) Final Fantasy VII, that isn't the first time I've seen a ninja fight with a pin wheel . I have the Zane from the "Titanium Ninja Tumbler" who I've been displaying unmasked with Cole and Jay. I'll likely pass on that pack and instead get the two golden gun parts to make my own version of the dual golden pinwheel. -

Funnily enough, I was thinking of something similar earlier. As a fan of element based powers, I've always felt there is more merit to the "under used" elements than the overused three (fire, lightning and ice), especially as they require a bit more understanding of the "science" behind it than just "Hit the opponent really hard with Fire/Ice/Lightning". I would like to see Nexo go to four years so they can do a year of water and a year of wood; as I've said elsewhere I'd love to see what new parts they could come up with for those elements. That being said, I do agree with you that to the average kid probably wouldn't have the same level of interest in seeing originality with elements and, like my younger self, wouldn't see how "powerful" water or wood would be. -

Same here. I would like it to continue, especially if the Water and Wood monsters a companion book refereed to pan out. I love the new lightning piece and would like to see other "new element pieces", especially for underused elements like water and wood. -

Someone earlier in this thread said something about a 1st of March release date, so I'm going to start browsing the sites after then. The number is 853687-1 which should help when it comes to finding it at launch. -

I had not, so thanks for that. I really liked the five battle suits released so far, and was a little disappointed no more were shown during the Toy Fair. I will definitely look at getting that one; do you have any idea on when it will be released? -

I clean forgot about him, and I did get one for my "Horror" display to portray him and the creepy girl as the children of the vampires. However I was thinking more classic Universal style monsters like the Invisible Man or an Aquatic Creature. However I appreciate that discussion is better suited for the wish list thread.- 1,421 replies

Ahh my mistake. I've always seen them as being for fans, similar to what's shown at Comic Con (for example) instead of retailers. Thank you for the clarification. -

I'm curious to know if the Skylor suit is meant to compliment the Summer 2016 figures or the Winter 2017 ones. Either way I'm glad we've got another fig of her and I'm aiming to grab one as soon as possible. I do think it's a shame she doesn't have a head wrap like the other ninjas, as I think it would have looked great in yellow/orange and brown. I've never understood why they disallow photography in toy fair events. I understand they want to release information on their terms but surely it would only help but excite fans for them to get a sneak peak before they're officially revealed. I guess it's never made sense to me why they're not willing to show them off first chance to get; the sooner I see them the more excited I get. -

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed with this line up. I feel there are too many "City" figures for my liking, rather than the nice balance between different "sub genres". Corn Cob Guy -Will get. As a fan of the costumed figures and someone who likes the Hot Dog and Banana figures, this is a must buy for me. Rocket Boy - Maybe. I do like the mold and could maybe see him as a fan boy for the Retro space Hero or Space Explorer from a few waves back. Butterfly Girl - Maybe. I do like the costumed figures but I feel this one is lacking and seems more like someone who wants to dress up like a Butterfly than someone actually dressed as one. Maybe if she had the same head piece as the Bee Suited character. Hot Dog Vendor - Maybe. I recently got the Hot Dog Vender for my ever growing Christmas display so I may get him to go with the vender. Elf Maiden - Will get. Fantasy figures are one of my favourite "sub genres" in the CMF wave and I like what I've seen so far. Roman Gladiator - Will get. The Warriors have always been my favourite and I'm always keen to see which ones get added to CMF. Battle Dwarf - Will get for the same reason as the Elf Maiden. Circus Strongman - Pass. Highwayman - Will likely get. I see this figure as being in the same "Warrior" range as the Roman Gladiator. Verterinarian - Pass. Dance Instructor - Pass. Surfer Boy - Maybe. I got the previous surfers. Retro Space Hero - Will get. The Space sub genre is another I've liked since day one and I do have a soft spot for old school sci fi. Yuppie - Pass. Gourmet Chef - Pass. I hope 18 has more of a variety and maybe brings back the Horror figures, who have been lacking for a while.- 1,421 replies

Ahh my mistake. I've yet to get one of those pieces myself, so I thought it was short chain that had both ends put on the base of the spear to generate some kind of ornamental chain/tassel. -

I think Nya has a chain on the end of a spear, likely more for detailing and Jay seems to have a spiked flail of some kind rather than his nunchucks. Outside of Kai and maybe L-loyd, no one has the same "weapon of choice" from the previous waves/series/incarnation. -

I was re-watching the trailer and found a good scene with the full suits and weapons: I have to say I do think they look better fully suited than unmasked. I do feel Zane and Kai stick out a little due to how dark everyone else's suits look (although Jay's may be darker than it is due to it being in the shadows). It makes them feel a little less consistent (baring in mind I see Ninjago as Lego's version of Power Rangers/Super Sentai) but that may change when we see pictures of Nya and Jay in better lighting. As for the weapons, I generally like them, especially Lloyd's new sword. -

After seeing that trailer, I'm starting to warm up more to the new suits and hope we'll see them in the flesh soon. Also curious to see everyone's unique weapon. I think I remember seeing Cole use a hammer in the calendar but I could be mistaken. -

Same here, especially as the calendar implied Nya will be getting grey as her colour rather than a crimson/cyan combination. I've always seen Ninjago as Lego's version of Super Sentai; different coloured suits every year with a varying roster and fighting different villains every year. I guess you could say Power Rangers as well, but they've moved away from the annual suit changes it's Japanese source uses. -

Now that you mentioned it, that is a fair point and probably what it meant. And I too like repeat figures for the reasons you mentioned, except I tend to display my figures on my work desk rather than MOCs.- 1,421 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion

As I said, I just find it boring because I feel there is nothing special about it. I love the fact we've gotten a Spartan, Amazon, male and female Samurai, Egyptian warrior and Arabian warriors - to name a few - in the CMF line (I'm personally a "warrior" guy myself) as I believe many of them would never appear in a main Lego line, adding another positive to how unique I feel the CMF line is. By contrast we've had over 9,000 different Batman Lego Figures in the past and I doubt that will change soon so that doesn't make the Batman CMF line unique or interesting to me. I'm probably going to treat the Batman wave the same way I treated the Lego Movie, Simpsons and Disney waves - if it has a figure I like, I'll get it, otherwise I'll pass. I do believe they showed some interesting/zany variant costumes which could be interesting (Excalibur Batman does look interesting) but they'll have to be something really special to wow me personally. Otherwise, like yourself, I plan to save my money for something else. Hasn't it been said we're not getting any repeats in this wave? That being said I would LOVE to get all of those figures you mentioned. As someone else who loves pirates, I think a female Pirate Captain would be a great addition, especially if she resembled Ruby Hart from Marvel vs Capcom 2.- 1,421 replies

My mistake. Thanks for pointing me to the correct place.

Less of a guess and more of a "nice to have", some kind of "Creature from the Black Lagoon". I know there's been one in both Monster Fighters and Scooby Doo but I would like an "official CMF" version of this figure to have in my horror/monster collection. I've always pictured it as having purple skin with some kind of trident. I also like Itaria No Shintaku's idea for an Invisible Man, Terracotta Warrior and Shaolin Monk.
