Don't worry, the brown looks fine. It was just a suggestion. If you're interested, here's a link to the treasure chest Bricklink page, where you can see which set it comes in, etc. . LINK

They look fine to me too. Nice review Clone O' Patra. This is a pretty good set for the size. Although it does look a bit scrawny in the front....
-
Don't paint your gold one. First of all it's against the rules, and second, the brown looks just fine. I think the monster and your sig-fig look fine, but they just don't fit in too well. I look forward to seeing the parrot added in, I think it will look great.

Nice work with brightening your entry up a bit! The gems are a lovely addition, but I can't help but feel that you're straying a bit far from the pirate theme by including a rock monster and your sig-fig. I think they would be excellent if you were writing a cartoon or something, but unfortunately I don't think they fit here very well... Improvement ideas: 1) I think you might want to remove the monster and sig-fig, mainly because they kind of distract from your otherwise great MOC. 2) Instead of the rock monster, a parrot would be an excellent provider of color. 3) Perhaps use a black treasure chest instead of brown so it stands out more? ============================================== This is already looking tons better than your original entry, and I think if you just be wary of what you add, it will turn out fantastic! I wish you the best of luck!

Ice Bricks: now with BELVILLE magic!
Erdbeereis replied to Siegfried's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's brilliant Sinner. I had a good laugh. The look on your face at the end is especially convincing. Your review gets a from me. -
I had the same thing with one batch of Cannon Battles that I bought. It's quite odd. It was only one time that I got 3 from Target that they were like that. All of the others have been normal.

Oh yes, another lovely SlyOwl MOC to enjoy! I love all of the action going on here, and the buildings have excellent design. The angle of the land is just superb as well. Beautiful work!

Sheesh, they're just names! I'm really looking forward to the release of these, no matter what the alien's names are.

Mystery Manor - Index and Disscusion Thread

I totally agree. I almost look more forward to seeing each room than I do actually playing the game. -
Lovely entry Majek, the image quality is just fine. It's small, but it packs a great amount of detail into that space. I'm not completely sure what the cabinet-like thing is on the right, but I think the usage of the crate piece is excellent. As far as I can tell, it looks like you used brown doors like the ones used in the Dwarves Mine in some parts of the wall, which I think is a brilliant idea. Thy provide some great texture to the wall. Lastly, that little plant caps the whole thing off with a cute touch. Some improvement ideas: 1) I always feel that a MOC needs to have some sort of a minifigure to really come alive. Adding a captain character would be a nice touch. 2) The black treasure chest blends in a bit too much with the floor. If you have a brown one I think that would be better suited for the spot. =========================================================== Excellent entry all around, certainly one of the best so far. Good work and good luck!

Sounds excellent! I want to be a part of this. I'll P.M. you. Mine should be easy to make, just a chef's outfit with a moustache head.

Mystery Manor - Chapter Seven

I will cook up a feast for you. Fresh pasta with an onion cream sauce, followed by a roast pork tenderloin. After that we will have the chocolate mousse cake that I've made. I would like to inspect the oven, and then dig in the cake to see if there's anything hidden inside. Those stairs certainly look ominous... We'll have to check that out later. -
That's the odd thing, a few times he said he doesn't have a method, and a few times he did. He must have had some way of knowing though, seeing as he made a video.

I feel about the same way. When I see it I think "Wow! What a cool minifig!" but a little plastic man is not worth tons and tons of effort.

You have to deep-link them. Here's a tutorial. Deeplinking tutorial. Hope that helps!

I use primarily Flickr, as I like the ability to keep track of my contact's pictures and the commenting features. Plus I find it easy to use and navigate. One downside to it is that it's not an only LEGO site, so it can take a while to get a solid basis of views. Brickshelf I use to deeplink images to Eurobricks, as it's quick and easy to do from there. But I don't really like the way it works, mainly because without a commenting feature you don't feel as connected to the community. I also don't like the folder set-up. MOCpages was the first place I used, but I grew extremely tired of the 100s of kiddy Star Wars "Elite Commander Bla-bla-blas". It has some great members, but far too many immature ones as well. So, for me I like Flickr.

If I were him I would feel terrible that quite a few people think he is lying, and announce the method used. Otherwise there's really no point in showing it off... But, I have nothing against him, we probably just have different opinions on the matter.
-
It's probably not worth the trouble just for a little plastic guy. But, if there is an easy method I'd love to hear about it. EDIT: KimT, if you don't think this is worth keeping open feel free to close it.

Flickr (And Eurobricks) member Starstreak has posted a video of him getting a Chrome Vader. He says that he knew from some secret method that he would have one in that box, but he won't say how... Here's the video: LINK Does anyone know the method that is used here?

My entry for the Captain's Cabin Contest
Erdbeereis replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in Pirate MOCs
Excellent improvements! The tiled deck greatly improves the look of the whole thing, and your pictures now look much better. Last improvements: 1) I would recommend taking one picture that's like the first one, but so that you can see the entire thing. The current one cuts off the top a little. 2) Is there a way you could make the pictures a larger size, like 800 x 600? The ones you have now a a bit on the small side. ========================================== Your entry is miles ahead of where it was when it started, so great job! -
Those pictures are 100% better. Good work!

I found a bunch of Torrents and Grevious Starfighters at my local Target in the Easter section. It's nice that these are more readily available now.

Mystery Manor - Chapter Seven

I vote to head on to the kitchen. I'm getting hungry anyway. -
Now that's a good entry! The idea is hilarious, especially with all of the pirates poking their heads around the corner and from the barrel. I also think you did a very good job with the floor, mixing some different colors of brown was smart. Your hat stand is beautiful and is a great detail as well. A few preliminary ideas for improvement: 1) The gaps in the corners of the walls might look better filled. 2) A bed would be a nice addition. ======================================================== That's about it for now. I look forward to seeing your "surprise", and I think your entry stands an excellent chance. EDIT: Cap'n Blackmoor, I think that's more like a make-up bench or whatever it's called rather than a bed, but I might be wrong. Great work and good luck!
