Definitely optional heroes vs. heroes battles, I agree on that. But I think most heroes wouldn't mind fight each other in this scenario. It's not a serious battle in a sense, more like how heroes fight in the arena. Two competing teams racing and playing tricks on each other during the way, maybe with a fight too. Something the heroes can look back on while sitting in Scheherazade's Saloon having some mead: "Hey Boomingham, remember when I knocked you out in Newharbour? I bet you never thought a small rogue like me would lay down a big paladin." "Haha, yeah good times Hybros! I would've have made you 1 foot even shorter if Arthur hadn't confused me with his spell. Anyway, our team still won the race and the Hinckwells gave us a great reward." "Whatever, our teamed earned more on trading then you petty rewards. And we got to meet the King in Duplovia as well." Excuse my steal of RP-ing . and I'm of to read Dastan Quests Thanks, I'll keep that in mind

Also, a battle between the teams wouldn't mean that the losing team loses the quest. It's just a scramble for the the precious object, more of a rumble than a real battle.

I understand what you mean. The heroes vs. heroes thing was more or less just a thought that since the goal is to bring back a certain object to their employers, the team that is missing the object would try to steal it from the other team. And if a sneaky steal would fail, a simple ambush might work better. That would make the home trip more exciting. But those battles would of course be optional and non-violent ways to get hold of the object would be possible as well. I'm not sure about having the teams cooperate in a big battle though, it is supposed to be a competition between the teams, no fair play I haven't really got started on the battles much, but I know from experience that I find it very hard to balance them right. Especially now with all the advanced classes that each have their tweaks and turns. But it's about who gets most loot! Wouldn't Guts bash some stupid paladins a little to get a bigger share of the cake?

I've started working on my next quest: The Amazing Race (Working title) The Hinckwells and Shadeaux both employ a team of heroes (3-4 in each team) from Heroica to travel to Duplovia and obtain a precious artifact and bring it back to Eubric. The two teams have to chose the fastest way to get to Duplovia, face the challenges on the way and fight of their concurrents. There are several alternative routes the party can chose from and the heroes can earn extra money by trading with merchants at the marketplaces. The two teams would get a separate topic each. The quest would go with as similar pace as possible in both of the. When a battle between the two teams happen, the battle will take place in the defender’s topic with the attacking team PM’ing their actions to the QM. I have planned most of the quest regarding the routes, locations, the special trading feature and NPCs, but battles and of course building the MOCs (giant MOCs!) still needs lots of work. Especially battles is something I will struggle with so if someone is interested in helping me out there and maybe be co-host too, I'm all ears. What do you think?

Thanks again guys! I really enjoy building in the Heroica universe, there are lots of cool stories to tell! As I said before, most of the MOCs in my quest was build several months ago, which was good because now I can focus on the actual story and just put in the pictures when it's time. And also start working on new MOCs for the next quest... Which I probably should go and write something about it in the QM topic.

Heroica RPG - Quest #49: The Light That Reveals Everything

"No, Ansar has been quite normal, you must have irritated him in some way. Blond hairs? Well, my lips are sealed in that matter, sorry. Sir Mandric is, sorry was, a real pain in the rear end. I didn't like his haughty style and that he always snooped around other people's business. Of course, I feel sorry for the priestess to have lost a family member, but I think the rest of us is don't exactly mind." -

The heroes go to the kitchen through a back door from the garden. Inside they find the chef Fat Mats: "Huh? Where did you come from? I hope you are not here for lunch, it's not served until noon. But you guys didn't seem to be especially punctual about meal times anyway." -

Where do you want to search for the novices and which way do you want to take there? You are currently at the garden which is connected to the Private Rooms, that you just searched, and the Kitchen. -
Thanks Rumble! I actually made most of the MOCs (not the sanctuary though) half a year ago, so it's nice to finally be able to show them. Only problem is that I may have changed my ideas of the quest so that the rooms don't show exactly what I want, but I've managed to solve that too I think. Glad you noticed!

"I've heard otherwise." "Pft! Murder investigation, yeah right. As if anyone cares. We are much better off without that high-muck-a-muck! But I didn't kill him, that should be enough for you. Now excuse me, while I go and take care of the apple trees. I've just realized how much I prefer the company of silent, non -condemning plants." Ansar walks away from the heroes and around the corner of the private rooms. -

"That is none of your business." "Hey, I don't like your tone mister. Where I was last night is nothing you should care about, it was private. Where were you yourself?" Haldor checks the shed and finds a shovel, a pickaxe and a knife: Shovel – Allows the hero to dig the ground in search of a treasure. Pickaxe – Allows the hero to dig through a breakable wall or obstacle. Knife - WP: 4, ranged, retrievable, throwing weapon, suitable for rangers and rogues. Haldor also finds some long, blond hairs in the shed. But Ansar notices how Haldor is snooping around in the shed: "Hey, get out of there! Those are my tools, get your own!" -

The party doubles back down the stairs and out through the door that the mud tracks where leading to. Just outside the door they step in a muddy puddle. Next to a vegetable patch there is a small shed and a pile of manure. The gardener Ansar is working with the vegetables when he sees the heroes coming. "Hello there!" -

The heroes continue up to the final floor: Where the bedrooms of Sir Helmer and Jorke are located: The heroes quickly checkes the rooms but finds nothing of interest. Jorke's chest just has some clothes in it and Sir Helmer's is filled with weapons of all kinds, just standard quality though. The bottle on the table in Jorke's room is just water. What do the heroes want to do next? Speeding it up a bit. But you can return to the rooms later if you want. -

The crates contain all sorts of small rocks. Neatly sorted in small boxes with numbers on them. There is also a list that says "Helmer's stone collection" and all the different numbers and types of stones. The weapons seem to be of rather standard quality. Axe - WP: 5, suitable for barbarians. Short Sword - WP: 6, suitable for knights and rogues. Spear - WP: 4, suitable for barbarians. -

The yellow bottle on the shelf looks like a Nostrum, and the big green pitcher looks to contain water. The trophy has a small inscription that says: For extraordinary achievements in the service of the Righteous Light. The cabinet's door and drawers are looked, but the side compartment holds a bottle of Smelling Salts. On the middle shelf there is a glass mug and a golden pill. -

The paper on the wall appears to be an old letter: Dear brother, Thank you for your letter, I read it to mother and I think she enjoyed it. She has gotten much worse lately and our local cleric says he can't do anything more than he already has. I hope this letter reaches you in time so that you can get here as soon as possible.
