There was a small 5 line story in The Sun newspaper (UK) yesterday. It may describe several EBer's/AFOLS but his collection is particularly big: DAZ CAN'T LEGO Lego nut Darren Smith, 32, is building on his £50,000 collection despite filling his garage and loft with 2 million toy bricks in Exeter. I just wondered if anyone knows him, has any pictures or knows what he does with his LEGO, i.e. MOCing.

How many VESTAS employees are there in the UK?! This sounds very generous!
-
Yea, thanks for the heads up. My mum works at Boots and gets a bit of discount so she's going to be buying my christmas presents early now! 3 for 2 is a great offer - if you sell the third, it's basically buy one get one free! BOGOF RGS, how can you say no!? It sold out after the 2nd day though
-
Count me in too!

Do you know this for a fact? I was wondering what happened to all those clones. It would mean that the free Clone Trooper was not quite 'factory' new. I'm personally not bothered by that though. Thanks for the link though. I had not seen these particular pictures before and i've been looking for better pics than the ones offered by Gizmondo. These pics show give a much better sense of how many there were and what it would look like if they were marching towards you

Edit: Answer found!

Free comp, get in. I don't mind dreaming about winning this one

Congratulations on winning a very cool competition. I had a dream that I had won this lastnight... how cruel
-
If you are serious about getting it: Link to UK eBay auction There will probably be some competition for this auction so don't bid too high because there will be more! I could always buy you a copy and send it to you at no extra cost
-
That's quite cool. I just found out about this too. At £3.99 it works out cheaper than eBay or Bricklink. i think i'll get myself one but I won't go nuts because i'm sure there will be a battle pack at some point. Besides, i might even win one

I realise I was silly in putting my email address in a forum message but would it be ok if you removed it from the quote, thanks!

Hiya. I just bought a ticket but there was no place to write any notes, it never gave me the option Sorry! I just read the note above - pm on it's way. edit: What was I thinking?! Putting my email address on here

I've noticed that these 'tabs' on the instructinos appear right through to Star Wars in 1999 but there are no points value.

I can understand if you want to open a MISB set. But do you realise that people will pay very good money for a MISB set and gladly give you the same set that is already opened? Or do you enjoy opening the sets just as much? I can understand that as I love getting brand new sets. But I love old MISB sets the most
-
Yes! I've been meaning to ask this too! I noticed it again when I was sorting my instructions into folders. It could have been from promotion but when the sets originally came out I had no idea what the points were for and there was never any advertisements for a promotion. It's probably what "Captain green hair" said; a building skill reference.

I don't know if other EBers would like this but I would find it really useful to know where all LEGO stockists are in other towns but have this indexed by country and county. It would also be useful to get a rough idea of how reasonable the prices are in a particular shop and other info etc. I recently went to Bournemouth for the weekend and couldn't find a single one except for on the 5th floor of a Beales (expensive department store). There must have been a decent toy shop that I missed! I'm going to make a start anyway England - Somerset - Yeovil The Entertainer - Always stocks lots of the latest LEGO but is nearly always overpriced, especially the larger sets. Denners/Toymaster - A department store but stocks a lot of LEGO and at RRP. Woolworths - Usually has the latest LEGO but not in huge amounts RRP or lower. See website for more details. Argos - Has a selected but good range of sets at RRP. See website for more details. TESCO - Has a selected range usually just City, Star Wars and Creator at RRP or less.

REVIEW: GIANT Castle Chess Set (2008)
chris_austin replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks for the detailed and informative review. I won't be buying this set as i'm not a chess lover or a castle buyer (even though I love it!) but it's amazing to look at. Most importantly, the set looks more like an elite MOC than an official LEGO set which is very encouraging especially the 4 corners. -
Well it may be our favourite but apparently it's popular with other people/children too who would have thought it... Link to a special MSN gallery of cool LEGO brick creations I expect most EBers have seen these pictures elsewhere but enjoy anyway!

Well it's my birthday today and i've been building up a small load of sets over the past 2 months to treat myself! I haven't bought any new sets for a long time (a year or 2) because I can only afford used sets, so it's been a lot of fun so far! This morning i've built the new 7681 Separatist Spider Droid and 7678 Droid Gunship (an awesome playset). Later on i've got 7666 Hoth Rebel Base, 7662 MTT and 101 Super Battle Droids to put together oh and a 7671 AT-AP Walker

If he's like me then he doesn't have many similar coloured bricks anyway! But it works well and gives a good multi-part effect. I'm always impressed when people build generators/engines/spaceship exteriors with all different bricks like this. Thanks for the tips I look forward to seeing the rest. Nearly - Shocktrooper

Yeah, thanks for sharing and answering all the questions. This MOC is in a class of it's own! I always find this type, the most amazing of LEGO models; how you built and designed it in such a way that it does not look like LEGO! And it's also a fully functioning playable set This is something to aspire to. Thanks for the inspiration! Edit: Just have to add, if I was a Star Wars minifig, I would feel scared and intimidated at the sight of this vehicle

Thanks for the review. I love these affordable little sets. Not so affordable now because of the cool figs but i'm going to have a look on eBay and bricklink right now just in case! An army of tan red droids would look great. Maybe we'll see some if Geonosia appears in the new seires somehow unlikely since the Confederacy was defeated at the Battle of Geonosis. I wish I could have bought this set when it came out but i'd just left university so I was super skint and had to miss all the Ep.II sets now they all cost loads even in used condition. At least now there has been a re-design of the gunship and AT-TE from the Clone Wars series that I can buy.
