  1. December 618 - Location unrecorded Get the lead out ye licentious louts! The Lord of Whispers wants to be back to sea before the merchant traffic sobers up and we need this thrice-cursed ship ready to stand to. Get those canons and stores aboard before sundown or ye'll get a kiss from the bosun's cat. ---x---x---x--- This represents my official request to re-do the stats of the Hotspur, the class 6 I capture last MRCA. I don't own a lot of dark red bricks, so I had to improvise a bit from the original micro-ship's design. Call it creative license I suppose. Of course I had to overexpose to get the black bricks to show properly, so the dark red got "bleached out" anyway. Hotspur - by Bregir The build uses Captain Greenhair's hull technique essentially and came out rather nicely in real life. Other pics:
  2. A great scene! Nice to see BoBs diplomacy done with a MOC once in a while.
  3. Wow! That is some great work.
  4. She's a beauty. Well designed and built. Considering the difficulties I have had photographing black hulls in the past, kudos on your pictures.
  5. Very nice and holiday-centric.
  6. Interesting idea. Impeccably built of course but I am not sure how I feel about it. There are some aspects that echo a pyramidal architecture I'd expect find, but still very narrow and "European looking". I think if you had made the bottom tier wider by two lugs, and then the middle tier also by two lugs, so you had slopes between each floor, it would "fit" my vision better. Completely my opinion though and as I said it was very well built and photographed as per your usual standard.
  7. From the December account page - faction balances: Corrington: 19,627 Dbs / 12 licensed ships Eslandola: 35,594 Dbs / 10 licensed ships Oleon: 63,775 Dbs / 19 licensed ships Sea Rats: 7,554 Dbs / 6 licensed ships Yep. We're obviously overpowered and dominating things. I'm sorry but there is now actual danger when sailing your trade ships - i.e. player pirates are actively hunting you. It makes the game more challenging and fun. But If that is not your cup of tea, there are other EB games.
  8. Interesting build. I would have liked to see one pic with an actual roof, but that's me.
  9. That is a lovely scene. And welcome to "the life".
  10. The Sea Rats faction have established their first Hideout: Meadow Tickle - 16/12-18
  11. Meadow Tickle Tickle (n): a Newfoundland (Canada) term first coined in 1770. It describes i) a narrow salt-water strait, as in the entrance to a harbour or between islands & other land masses, often difficult to navigate due to narrowness, shallowness, tides, etc.; ii) a 'settlement adjoining such a passage. So named as a boat which traverses it may feel a "tickle" on the bottom of their hull. The fishing village of Meadow Tickle was composed of a handful of fisherman families and their huts, their existence on the edge of civilization was a hard one. Named for the explorer who discovered it (Captain Daniel Médaux), During the recent monsoons, two of the local skiffs were lost with all hands, devastating the community and threatening their livelihood. So when a pirate fleet came around the cape and asked to barter for supplies in exchange for hard currency, they jumped at the chance and the little hamlet prospered as never before. This represents a SEA RAT Pirate Hideout. Other pics:
  12. A lot of great subtle touches in this build. The roof and and brick colour variations for example. You did a great job.
  13. It has a nicely shaped hull. Good job.
  14. Nah. I don’t want to contribute to the meta-gaming.
  15. That was fun playing along from the bleachers. I had a few things right (1 scum I had pegged by day 3... they know who they are and why, and I had Kotz as 99% town prior to that lynch), but I misjudged Khscarymovie4. Nothing you did Barbossa - just patterns I misread. Well run game Kintobor. Hopefully I notice the sign-up for the next one in time.
  16. I completely forgot to give you your props for that raid. A hearty "Well Done!" to you sir. You are putting your fellow Black Flag'ers to shame with your audacity.
  17. After the last two MRCAs, the thought has crossed my mind. It is too much bloody fun though.
  18. Even though I have recently resigned my position on the Brethren Court, I'll give you a brief reasoning behind these pro-pirate rule changes since I had a hand in shaping some of them. The fact of the matter is the game mechanics have been heavily skewed to towards trading from the outset and this led to the death of player piracy in Era 2. Before you cite @MKJoshA's private war with COR, realize that was simply a warship vs. warship conflict and not what the Council wanted. What has been lacking is small pirate fleets being sailed by players, harassing the trade shipping in order to ultimately keep the economy in check. Without those pirates, there were no ship losses (i.e. expenses) and that is partially how we ended up with super-rich players with nothing to spend on along with some rather bloated personal fleets. So we went about to identify challenges to piracy: 1) Lack of profit in ship captures; 2) Lack of secrecy leading easy tracking and engagement of pirates (see MkJoshA's trouble. Easy hunt criminals when you are told where they are each month); and, 3) Difficulty of successfully engaging the now prevalent "super-convoys" by lone ships or small fleets. Point 1 has been previously addressed back in October with a rule change. Point 2 is being addressed soon (tm), but take heart as there will be a non-Sea Rat pirate component to it. Some ideas to address Point 3 were in discussion, but got bogged down. When @SkaForHire started this game 3 years ago next month, the Sea Rats were to be the "pirate faction". For many reasons that never came to fruition. What you see as "unfair" is simply a long overdue correction to make that method of play viable for the first time. Having said all that, after two months my pirate fleet ledger is in the red (even with the profit rule changes) while traders still are pulling in massive profits. Make what you will of that.
  19. WOW. That Nar Shaddaa MOC is something else. Great job @MstrOfPppts! I can almost hear that tinny Cantina music from SWTOR in my head. (I commented here so to not clutter up the Black Sun intro thread)
  20. Huh. I don't like your interpretation as much as MINE.
  21. A practical approach. Off-topic: What is the yellow symbol that was previewed? I can identify or give a good guess on the other five, but that one has me utterly stumped. A keep seeing a nun or Handmaid's Tale.
  22. I am fairly sure you can edit the title of your own thread. I did it enough times in the pirate forum. So... quiet night 4 huh?
  23. As an impartial voyeur, I’m looking forward to seeing the Day 4 lynch result. Curious to see if my hunch is right.
  24. This certainly looks promising. Kudos for putting things together. I'm not sure my brick collection (and limited skill-set/time) makes this viable for me, but I am certainly give it a hard look once the rules get posted.
