Well, i wouldn't say it looks overloaded when you see it in real. For me it looks very well proportioned. What i like better on it than on the coast guard boat is, that there is a bit more interior under the cabin. I was quite disappointed that there basically was only an oxygen bottlle on the coast guard ship under the deck. If i can say that they could have anything done better on the fire ship, it maybe would be the back section. The room under the "crane" is quite useless, since you can't access it and there also is nothing in it. Also, they maybe could have done some contraption that can lead the raft to the water. But probably THEN it would really look overloeaded

I just bought this set today (my first set this year, yay ), and have to say this is a wonderful ship. It reminds me a lot more of real fire ships and of the older lego fire boats, than the last fire boat we got, that really looked not realistic at all imo. I also made some comparison shots with the coast guard ship, since i saw that many think these 2 have a too similar design. Here are the pictures, discuss!

7566 is this set: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7566-1 So no castle set, though it would have been wonderful to get a medieval farmer impulse set (as it would to get some medieval civilian sets)

Review 8190 Claw Catcher

Thanks for another PM 2010 review! As far as i can tell until now, this will be the only PM set i want to buy this year. Other than at the lavatraz set, the new colour scheme works very well here, also you get lots of good accesoires and i like the overall design of the vehicle. -
You can find most of them if you simply enter the set number in the search field. Also, they have a feature now on brickset.com, that links you directly to the instructions, that's where i found the 2 books from the airport.
-
I must say i'm pretty disappointed with the passenger plane. Just had a look at the instructions, and saw it has no interior at all, except seats and the controls in the front. The little car that comes with it looks pretty nice, though. I found book 1 &2 of the airport instruction aswell, couldn't find the one for the airport itself, though: Luggage Car: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildin...ons/4585184.pdf Plane: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildin...ons/4585186.pdf I like this plane much better than the 3181 Passenger plane

Review 8191 Lavatraz
metalandi replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for a good review, of a really NOT good set When i saw the first pictures of it months ago, i thought this was a joke, and that it wa snot a real set but just something a 5 year old kid built with random bricks. Sadly, i had to see that it is a real set. This is one of the worst designed sets i have ever seen, if you can even call anyting "designed" on it. The colors just fit absolutely not together, there is no structure at all in this set, the drinks machine is surely nice, but it seems totally out of place for me. Sorry, TLG, but this one was a fail for me -
Thanks for the clearer pictures! I also assume these will be the final designs, since they don't have the preliminary sign on them anymore?
-
Seconded, it's the usual transparent crystal ball piece.
-
I don't know if it has been said yet, but i just wanted to give a heads up that part of the 2010 instructions are now up on lego.com!
-
The last one with the diver will for sure sell like warm bread.
-
I wonder when TLG will finally upload the instructions for all the new sets. They used to be online already weeks before the sets came out, unfortunately it seems now to be the other way round
-
I guess they changed the name cause they want it to seperate it totally from the current castle theme. Like, that this new theme would take place in a whole different "world" than the "old"one.
-
What are you talking about? It's just an enclosed trailer. There is no really innovative technique included in that really, i think. Both your truck and the new official one have designs that are simple, but yet looking realistic. I don't think at all you can consider that "stealing"
-
Well, we kinda "knew" since some months already, that next year there will be going on something different in the castle theme, with the name changing to kingdoms. I myself am very satisfied with what we have seen so far. I'm not disappointed we don't get elves, since i never really expected that. My favourite sets would be the big lion's(?) castle and the fortress of the "bad" guys.
-
To be honest, how many children buy their lego stuff by themself with their "own" money (what they anyway get from their parents)? I almost don't see that ever, at least here, most times always parents or grandparents are buying the sets for children. Never saw a child that went to a toy store alone and bought lego sets on its own.
-
I wonder when they will finally put up the instructions aswell..i hope it won't take too long now anymore, since the sets are already available everywhere.
-
Who cares? If you don't want/need something, don't buy it, simple as that.
-
I think he is more talking about the new castle But once again, these are preliminary pictures, and the setup and look of the figs is for 100 % sure to change. Alone the legs of the "good" faction: i don't think they will end up having plain grey, black legs in the end, with all the printed legs action going on everywhere. Also the torsos will be changed i assume, as they look about almost the same as the ones from the mid-90's knights.
-
I don't really know what exactly makes you think that it looks more "childish" than the last castle theme. In the new one, we have a even more realistic looking castle than the last one, and there are no not-human things like trolls, living skeletons and stuff anymore. Also, i haven't found much weapons that we didn't see yet. So what exactly makes it look like that to you? Maybe you should look a bit closer at the pictures first.
-
With it beeing human against human again next year, it could happen i think...also, why would they make a new forestman fig alone, but not sets that can go with it? Wouldn't make much sense, would it?
-
Do you mean the collectible minifigs, when you are talking about robin hood, or did you hear anything about new forestman sets aswell? The return of these would be great, we then would have like "classic castle modern style"!
-
Of course they are, that's why it says "preliminary" all over the box art. But the past years have showed us, that there isn't beeing changed that much anymore on the actual set design, more like only on the minifigs and that. Look at apreliminary picture of the troll's mountain fortress for example, the building came out exact the same, just some of the figs had different designs/helmets and so on. I'm pretty sure what we see here will be pretty much the deal, except very little things.
