Well, the problem would be now to connect it. And compared to the individual 1x1 clips, they're a little bigger. This is what I really need to work on, as the blaster should be relatively easy to redo
-
I assume you mean compared to what I have now? Well the advice I've gotten over on classic-space.com has been to make the blaster more beefed up, and tone down the hand. I can totally agree with that, but I also have two months for more people to give comments before I redo them :-P So I'd like to make it a little smaller than it is now.
-
Well, I don't want claws. I want something that looks like it could be used as a hand, or can manipulate the environment around it (like in the picture above, it was able to hold a human (fig) near its head)
-
Hm, by the time I have V.2 up and running I'll have it named from one of the suggestions given X-D
-
Thanks, it was my first serious attempt at a droid :-)
-
Er, I think it was a joke. A spammy joke though
-
Eek, you're right. Sorry, I read that as 2x3 and not 1x3...now that I see what you mean, I think it will make the design much more sturdy. I can't wait to implement it! In...two months :'-(

I can only guess at the dinner reception in Part II ;-) I foresee some form of food fight taking place >:-) Thing is I don't have much in the way of food pieces...I'll have to see what I can do about that.
-
Bricklink! But it is a bit...eh parts intensive :-P I like the idea though. How to link it up with the clips though? The clips are offset in the middle of two studs, how would they connect to the 1xX plates? Maybe the 2x3 jumper plate? I'll have to experiment some. Any ideas on reducing that ugly attachment to the bubble?

Ah, I'm sorry, I completely misunderstood what you meant the first time *wacko* As things stand now, I like the length of the body, and that would likely elongate it. If I don't get a stiff connection from the 1x1 squares when I redo it, I'll definitely try your method. As for the wings...they didn't exactly come out as planned. The original design was much...sharper. Let me try to ASCii it for you \.........__ .\______/ for the right wing. I can't get the angles right with the limited slopes though :-P The wings were thrown together in the span of about ten minutes with a 1x10(?) technic beam and alternating 1/2 technic pins to hold the rest on. It ended up much more..."chibi" than I would've liked. Like I said, this fighter needs much improvement :-D I get back to my bricks in around 2 months, plenty of time to design, right? ;-) Thanks for your suggestions. If you have any more I'd be happy to take them off yours hands for you :-$

Well, I meant from the surprise at Yoda falling on Vader you stepped back, to trip over Norro...you were drunk too? Tsk tsk :-P And jipay, I annoyed more than a few people with questions about what head to use, if they didn't have a fig in their avatar 8-| Sadly I didn't have Phes's current head, so I used his old one. Kinda works since I believe he said he isn't a huge fan of the one in his avatar now
-
I think he got mad after you stumbled back and fell on him... 8-| :-P The rebel was a gungan, whether or not he admits to it! Besides, I needed a use for that gungan head my dog got a hold of ;-) Sure, the next time I'm near my parts X-D

Hm, well this is just the prototype (hence the bley/dark bley). I am planning on redoing the engines, the stupid thingy up top, and the color scheme. Any ideas on how to make it less TIE-ish? I want to stay away from that too ;-) I think I get what you mean about the connection. I'll try it when I get near my parts again, but the problem I would think with that is that it wouldn't hold the 2x8 panels as well, since the supports would be closer to each other rather than further away. It may not be an official technique, but I found that sticking a small bit of tissue paper on top of the stud causes them to stick almost like glue :-D Though I would rather find a more plastic-y solution. Thanks for your comments. I'm definitely taking all this into consideration when I fix it up. Maybe I'll even make a yellow one just for you :-D
-
Thanks. Yeah, that bit up top annoys me too. I just can't figure out a way around that though, any suggestions? Hm...the Nexus fighter. I like the sound of that. We'll see ;-)

As mentioned in the Customization Index, Brickmodder is known for making quality figs that light up. None of that LULS crap :-D I figured I'd do a short review of his work on R2 and 3PO From the front: From the back (look normal, don't they?) C3PO's legs: And torso: The little white button near the back is the switch to turn him on. It's completely concealed. The battery is easily replaceable, and the light should last as long as you do ;-) R2 with his secret shown. And switch They're coming for you *alien* Less scary, with a bit more light :-D You can easily see the lights in a fully lit room, it's just harder to catch on a camera. His work is the highest quality, and I'd fully recommend giving him a try. He's also coming out with a cheaper line soon that isn't entirely contained in the fig.

This was such a pathetically small custom, that I don't think it really deserves its own topic, but I couldn't find another one of mine to combine it with. And I figure other people might like to try it. Anyway, here it is: Really easy to make, and I think it improves the look a lot. And because of the depression where the paint goes, it doesn't come off easily when a fig holds it. It's really simple too. First just take a fine brush, and coat the entire handle in a very thin layer of the paint. Then simple take a piece of tissue, and gently wipe off the excess paint. As long as you're not pressing on the handle, it should remove all the paint on the raised surfaces while leaving it in the crevasses.

Like I said in the droid topic, these are some MOCs I threw together that I had been thinking about. Sadly, it needs a name! Help :'-( This design was born from my want of a cylindrical fuselage for the bubble cockpit. It took me awhile to do, but I eventually did it. It's not the most stable design in the world, but I plan on improving on it. There's so much about it I'm not happy with. Anyway, here we go! 3/4 perspective: I plan on Brassoing the cockpit bubble From the rear Sideview. Perfectly symmetrical wings. The black parts are born from the fact that I ran out of dark bley ones. They'll be replaced when I get the chance. Not as thrilled with the colorscheme as I thought I'd be, either. Overview. here the engines are in landing configuration. They spread out to allow for maneuverability while landing. As this is supposed to be a cheap, mass produced fighter, there is no on-board landing gear, though I could throw some on if you guys think it's needed. I really don't see the need on this, it would just get in the way. From the back, with the back part removed (it can be removed and replaced easily, actually). Starts to show how I did it. Back tip, sensor suite Shows this baby's secret. Two rings to provide extra strength. It works nicely, though the plates do pop off from time to time. When I go back, I'll experiment with using 1x1 square plates, instead of 1x1 round plates to see if that adds any stability. Simple cockpit design to lower cost. While difficult to get used to at first, it becomes second nature after awhile, and is preferred to standard piloting configurations. The seat. It slides in and out easily, using a rod to stick into the holes of the rings. This allows quick repair. Cockpit without the chair. So over spring break I threw together a couple of MOCs. These are really my first published MOCs, so be gentle :-$ Here is the Imperial Assault Droid. Useful for anything from crowd control to battlefields, this versatile droid is making a real impact on the Rebels (my universe loosely borrows from the Star Wars one, as in there is an Empire, and a Rebellion, but that's about it). Here is the droid next to the chief of design for Imperial weapons. I'd hate to be a Rebel... In this image, he's in armored mode. Depending on the situation, the extra armor can be added or removed. Adding the armor provides much increased protection, but gets in the way of a joint, so it drasticall cuts down on flexibility and maneuverability. Here is the standard configuration, perfect for patrols Fairly stable design... Now there's a lot I don't like about this. I want to replace the arm parts with dark bley versions (not the t-pistons, the connectors). Also, the arms are a bit short...I'm thinking about elaborating on the blaster and grabbing arm next time I go home. Gallery when moderated. I know this may be a bit early, but over break I made a little MOC to celebrate the happy union of Vader and his Vaderette. I had limited time and bricks, so please excuse the crappiness of the MOC, as well as the yellowed white bricks :-P I tried to compensate by using a bright flash in some. I decided to include his friends, and the EB staff largely. Some people like Athos I've been saying I'd include in a MOC and knew their heads. As for Norro...I thought I knew his face but, eh, long story :-P if you weren't included I'm very sorry. I do have a limited number of suits and heads. As-is the chapel is standing room only :-P All weddings have photoshoots! Here's the happy group getting ready for the celebration. From left to right, we have: Jonfett, Hobbes, Athos, Sam, Jinzo holding up Yoda, Vader, Apo, Brickminer, JP, and TT hiding Phes! Don't worry, we'll see more of Phes Uh oh...apparently Yoda is a slippery little devil >:-) Brickminer fell back over Norro, who was hiding amongst the crowd, and TT furiously shoots some webbing to try to help. Oops...(but at least we finally see Phes, enjoying a good show X-D The priest doesn't allow guns in the chapel... Or swords But nobody separates a pirate from his sword ;-) The ceremony Phes hogs the seat with Jipay, and Yoda sits above Sam's shoulder. Nobody took his pimp cane either it seems. Hey! It looks like Grievous made it afterall :-D That's a huge rock (thanks for the inspiration, Athos) And the kiss! Long Live the Empire *vader* And Norro hangs out in typical lone wolf fashion Gallery when moderated Congrats :-) May your happy life together last longer than my MOC did :-D

Well, I hate to be technical, but RPGs are kinda my thing :-P RPGs do stand for Role Playing Game as you mentioned, and indeed every game you assume a role, but RPG is a genre, obviously it can't be all encompassing, or there would be no use for it at all. RPG games need a system of leveling up, it's not just a feature that may or may not be in it. Zelda is definitely not an RPG, even though you assume the role of Link. It's an action/adventure game. Same with Mario, Sonic, etc. And the fact that such a game was possible with LSWII and they chose the path of Action/Adventure leads me to believe that it will not be RPG, but rather maybe SIMs-like (building your own house in a community. Building a car. Going out with people to explore lego caves, or something), but I'd doubt RPG like (a character or group of characters on a mission that involves leveling up). Of course I may be totally off, maybe they will make it an RPG. But that also doesn't change the meaning of the term for the genre :-P
-
Actually the ones you listed are MMORPGs, which seems unlikely for Lego, who doesn't pursue that style of gaming (which is often more story driven and violent).
-
It doesn't work for me either. I believe Mister Phes said on the first page that he was having similar problems. That's why we're all trying to guess about what the set will be like :-P
-
I've finished an assault droid and a fighter. That leaves: 1. The keep 2. Imperial Battlecruiser 3. Floating island 4. Demondragon twins

It makes sense, but I don't think it's too much effort to find the reviews. I mean go to the forum of the theme you want the review of, and check the index. Even if you can't figure out the forum, we have less than 10, it wouldn't take too much time. Making a whole forum for them would make it HARDER to find them I'd think. And be a waste to boot.

Of course voicing your opinion is not offensive :-D I don't think the issue here is about it affecting the realism (as some people have posted along the same lines of what you said), it's more that the Lego quality (which has so far always been held to a high standard) is slipping. While it may add to realism here, the lessened quality might give you ten different shades of red for that train that was painted in a factory that you talked about. As far as bley, the problem with that is that it has a very metallic look, which doesn't lend itself well to looking like rock at all. That isn't a quality control issue, it's just a stupid move on their part :-P
