Custom swords (well, painted...)
Starwars4J replied to Starwars4J's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Nope, the paint is in the little crevasses (which is where the leather would be), so it's low enough not to come in contact with the hand -
A motorized walked AT-AT was confirmed several months ago :-P

database over the castle items wanted
Starwars4J replied to starwarsdk's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "Items", but if you want a full list of sets by theme, Peeron is your best bet. -
They mentioned that 60-70 is only middle age because the life spam has increased so much :-P However, you're right about the every generation thing since Mara just got off'd :-/

Anyway, I had to do something with the four golden katanas from the Golden Tower set, and I've had this idea kicking around for awhile. They're just painted with a coat of Testors dullcoat to make them look "worn" Anyway, here's the backstory: One of the most famous swords is the Muramasa from Japanese legend, on par with the Excalibur from English myth. What isn't told is the story of its sister sword, the Masamura. The Muramasa is said to drain the life out of anyone who it comes in contact with, taking their life power for itself. While this makes the Muramasa an extremely powerful sword, it also makes it impossible to wield by any normal means. It was created eons ago as the physical manifestation of a woman, by the name of Muramasa. She had a sister by the name of Masamura who, like her, has a physical manifestation. While the Muramasa gains strength from anyone who attempts to wield it, the Masamura keeps the Muramasa in check by sharing the power it steals, so that the two swords are always the same. Unlike her sister, Masamura does not steal life by contact, but rather can restore it. Therefore, the only safe way to wield the Muramasa is to also wield the Masamura, so that while one sword steals the life from you, the other restores it. However it can only restore half of what was taken, so use is still very limited. These swords, and the full story behind them have been lost to the ages...however recently it was re-discovered by malevolent forces. Here they are: I'm thinking about putting another thin layer of white over the Masamura, what do you think? Edit: Repainted the Masamura And now, the lovely Masamura *wub* Okay, so she's that female fig from Avatar, but she's easily my favorite fig, and I don't think I could improve on her if I tried. Fleshies are figs that are not alive, either from heaven or hell. Color in the eyes indicate heaven. Anything else comes from the other place :-P

How could you forget poor Chewie? *sing* Also, I think that torture is one thing, but masochism, and a religion based around masochism is another...

There's a joke in there that I won't touch >:-) Hm...I thought the Ladies were to pick my new title. Is there something about you that we don't know, PSPguy? :-D

...do I want to know what your new job will be? Eh, as long as they still do my laundry I don't mind 8-|

I was browsing before bed, and came across this. Not only was the photography amazing (please someone tell me how to make this effect!) but the whole MOC is just...*wub* there are no words. Without further ado... In the rest of the gallery you can see the wings are also pure Lego. God this thing blows me away. Bryce's Gallery here

Very nice Athos! It's a very convincing scene, and now I'm wishing I had that wavy hairpiece. I wonder if they're gonna have to take care of Joe now...

Wait, wait. Since when does Ichigo develop as a character? He basically mopes around about what a failure he is and never really comes into his own, always too afraid about releasing his hollow side. There tends to be no rhyme or reason for power increases either, and talking? More than half of the Bleach fights are talking, it's like they need to take breaks or something :-| When is Rukia actually going to do something again? I mean it doesn't even make sense...she was a respected death god and yet at the start couldn't even defeat a weak nothing hollow, but ichigo could? And then there's Orihime and Chad getting super powerful from nowhere, except Orihime actually uses it and Chad jobs to everyone he fights |-/ I love the series, don't get me wrong. It's a nice way to sit back and relax, but if I want something serious, I'm more likely to watch something like Hellsing. Bleach is about on par with Naruto, unfortunately, in terms of thought, although Naruto actually puts more thought into style... But if Bionicle is more like Bleach (a shonen), then I'll agree that the direction it's taking is wrong.

It's the Legend-series re-release of the Black Seas Barracuda

Now I like Bleach as much as the next guy, but it sure isn't for that reason. The thing I hate about bleach, and even what you're talking about how they should treat Bionicle, is that it's just a giant DBZ fest. You're 10x more powerful than I was in the last episode?! Well then I'll just have to power up/transform/use a new secret technique/fuse! Bwahaha, now I'm 10x more powerful than you! ...oh now, you have a FOURTH transformation?! It's just sad, there's very little style in it. Hell, when Ichigo attacked Renji for the second time, he was using a special technique on how to counter a more powerful opponent, and what happened? Renji basically said "I'm stronger, so you can't do anything to me" How boring. It's bad when an anime focuses on pure power over style, because that just isn't realistic. Bleach is just one of the "big three" in the US right now, and somehow it's still going on Japan. I have to admit, the fight with Grimjaw was fairly awesome, but it just...it was a giant beatdown. No special techniques. No new abilities (except Grim can somehow fly now, why hello there DBZ). And don't get me wrong, I loved DBZ as a child, and it still holds a place in my heart, and I still find it entertaining, but nothing in it will really have me on the edge of my seat. Why is that? "Oh no...Goku will never wi-oh, he went Ssj3..." It's just boring and predictable. He doesn't use a special style, in fact in DB it was stated that his stance was so poor that he left himself open on all sides. C'mon people, we need more than senseless face-bashing. We need some finesse. And if that's the direction Bionicle is taking (I can't say for sure, I don't really follow it), then good

Depends on how much I like them, but I might be interested in trading some of the new skellies for new trolls

Well canonically he dies :-P

Ah, I suppose I was wrong about the interest being too small to get one of the big customizers involved! I doubt they'll mass-produce the official pieces though, Bonaparte, I mean the chance is there but Armothe tends to deal in 100% customs, though I'm sure whatever custom him and RB whip up will be fantastic. Thanks for joining the site to help with this, Armothe. We actually have a fair number of customizers here, many of whom really love your work. If you have some extra time, feel free to introduce yourself in the Hello! My name is... forum.

Welcome to EB! It seems you have quite a varied taste in themes X-D I hope you'll enjoy it around here :-)

I'm just glad this didn't get canceled like the beards and warhammer with the viking line...
-
Hm, I actually think you're mis-interpreting it. When they say lasers need to "recharge" they mean it needs a cool down time before it can fire again. However when I talk about reloading a blaster, I mean the physical cartridge containing the gas

That's pretty cool but...flaming swords? :-X To quote a famous line...

It's accelerated by some advanced version of an ionic accelerator, basically using magnetic fields to do the job. It doesn't work in practicality, otherwise we'd make them now :-P

Are you taking age into account? I mean hell, a lot of kids love the PT in Star Wars :-D However, are our members not entitled to their opinions? I thought that was why you "left EB forever", cursing our names or something. If someone calls the person who designed my FAVORITE lego set a talentless hack, would I get insulted? Why would I? I just disagree, and you're free to do just that. What the heck does your religion have to do anything? You were being quite hateful of this place before you left, and continue to do so. Well, you're entitled to your opinion, but what does having the ability to PM have to do...? I'm sorry, but there's a LARGE difference between "Talentless hack" and "doodie-head!", the latter to which you'd attribute to a child. I think you're blowing things way out of proportion just because someone insulted one of your favorite "writers". Take it in stride, because everyone is entitled to have opinions that not only differ from yours, but oppose yours. And if you don't like that, then either ignore it, deal with it, or stop reading it. Honestly it's coming across as very childish to me that you're getting so bent out of shape about such a small comment. People call George Lucas a talentless hack all the time, and I don't get bent out of shape about it. In fact, I'm starting to agree... :-D I know all about aspergers, it's actually one of my pet peeves but I'll ignore that. It's just that practically every other person you run across on the net claims to have it, where there's no proof of it being a real condition. It's mainly characterized by social awkwardness, however, and little else. That's really another story though, to me it seems like people just use it as an excuse a lot, but that's really my issue. I can agree with that! Though lately the average age here seems to be plummeting...and when that happens, things get complicated and you can't always say what you want or how you feel because someone will take huge offense, so you have to really tone it down, which in a way really defeats the purpose of a forum entirely. Well that's a very reasonable request. I think however that people will always have their opinions, and inevitably you will run across people whose views directly oppose yours, and you can't just make them stop all the time. And they can't make you stop...that's the whole point of free speech and expression. I know it can be annoying when someone is saying something that really bugs you, but you can't just make everyone agree. If it helps, I don't think anyone does it to be mean, but rather are expressing their opinions, sometimes without realizing how extreme it can come off as. Now that that's settled...let's try not to stay off topic, okay?

Photo Review: 4499577 Viking Chess Set
Starwars4J replied to Starwars4J's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
No problem in bringing up an old thread if you have a question. I don't believe the horns were glued on mine, however I can't be sure. Sadly, I'm away from my bricks for another couple if weeks, but I'll definitely check and reply here (and shoot you a PM in case you've forgotten). Quick question, SuvieD, is the set you mentioned also new, or was it from near the launch of the set? I think I would've noticed if they were glued, and in fact think I remember readjusting some of the horns that had become twisted in shipping, but I don't know if that is just my imagination.
