  1. I bought one copy on S@H today. However, I'm not sure if I'll assemble it or not. I sometimes look at my train layout and I have no idea where I should put the Maersk Train as soon as it has arrived. I have only one free siding left, but I'd rather have it at my disposal for the other train stuff I own.
  2. I know today's date. *lol* For a second I thought I had typed the URL incorrectly.
  3. 1x 10219 Maersk Train
  4. This is not a question on LEGO trains but on real life trains. I hope it doesn't matter that I'm posting this here. If it does matter, I hope a moderator can move it to a more proper place. I've always been wondering why American train types like the Maersk engine of the set that is being released soon have only got one driver's cabin at one end of the engine. In Europe there are often two driver's cabins, one at each end of the engine. So if engine drivers want to use the "reverse gear," they just change the cabin and can see all train signals perfectly. Even if the engine is going backwards, it can reach maximum speed. There's actually no difference between going backwards and forwards since one end of the engine looks like the other one. I've been wondering if the Maerks engine in real life could go backwards at full speed and - if yes - if that would be more problematic for the engine driver than going forwards since his view is more limited. Are there any American engine drivers among us who could answer this question? I'm curious to know.
  5. According to Brickset, I have got 457 minifigs. However, I've lost some minifigs in the course of time. The lost ones disappeared in my childhood, though I could replace quite some by eBay purchases. But I have also got one little plastic box in which there are many castle minifigs. So I can't tell the exact number. About 460 plus or minus a few, I'd say. Edit: Ooops! I've just discovered that I've already posted here and thus repeated a bit of my last post. Anyway, since my last post my minifig collection has increased for about 100 minifigs. Not bad!
  6. I'm pretty surprised that a 9V motor was used. I mean it's clear why they used one, because recharging isn't necessary. However, TLC decided to add a product (the 9V motor) that is no longer produced instead of using parts that are still available. Indirectly advertising a product that can no longer be bought makes no sense.
  7. I'm asking myself if set 7939 will have reached the end of its production cycle when that set is released in August. If 7939's availability reaches far beyond the release date of 3677, TLC must have changed its stance on trains.
  8. First we got the Emerald Night and now we're getting 10219. I'm wondering how much time will pass till we get a fabulous train building. I mean I really love 10219 and I want it as much as I wanted the Emerald Night. However, I'm longing for a nice train building.
  9. Since 10219 is hitting the shelves soon, I'd be very surprised if this weren't a MOC but an official set. Concerning trains we are normally only offered one passenger train, one freight train and one exclusive. Releasing another freight train so soon is something I don't comprehend. Maybe this train will be released next year; or maybe this train was just assembled by TLC's desingers without the intention of ever making it an official set.
  10. The two old greys plus old brown.... maybe I'm just saying that because they don't exist any more. I don't know. But from time to time I still buy bricks in those colours on bricklink and I built a church in old grey. However, I also use the new greys and the new brown, of course.
  11. Thanks for your views and advice. I think I'm going to buy the rechargeable battery box 8878.
  12. Hello guys! I need your help in deciding which battery box I should buy to power my Emerald Night. The AAA Battery Box (88000) is much cheaper than the rechargeable one. However, what advantages/disadvantages does each type of battery box have? Which one permits you to run the Emerald Night for a longer period of time, for instance?
  13. Maybe TLC corrected this error with limited edition super chiefs that were produced a bit later. I have got two limited edition engines (one is still MISB) and both had that separate bag, which was not in the box. The bars in the box are the wrong colour.
  14. Do you want to buy it MISB on eBay? If yes, have a close look at photos of the box. There is a yellow line on each box in the right-hand lower corner with "limited edition" printed on it when it's the version you are looking for. If this yellow line is not there, it's the normal version without the special tiles. I have to inform you that the limited edition came with some parts in the wrong colour. These pieces were bars. TLC realised that they had made a mistake and delivered a little plastic bag with the correct pieces in addition to the box. What I want to say is that that plastic bag is NOT in the box. Make sure that the seller has still got those extra pieces or you'll probably be a bit disappointed. By the way, there are some limited edition versions available on bricklink.com.
  15. This wonderful set also clearly shows that TLC takes our opinion and criticism seriously. I can remember that many criticised the Emerald Night set because it came with only one waggon. Eh voilà! Set 10219 comes with two waggons! ...or do you think this has nothing to do with the comments made on the Emerald Night?
  16. By the release of this set in the not too distant future, I suppose the Emerald Night won't be available any more quite soon. So I want to warn everyone who hasn't got an Emerald Night yet. Grab one before it's gone for good!
  17. Oh, I hate TLC for releasing sets that I simply must buy despite storage problems! I'm running out of space!
  18. I'm Austrian and I find that Austrian locomotive amazing! It was still in service when I was a kid. Some of them are still kept intact for special nostalgic train journeys, which are sometimes offered.
  19. Thank you very much for your help, guys! Languages are tricky, because there're many varieties of them (depending on where the speaker of a a language lives). I sometimes use google.co.uk and search for the structures I am not sure of. I just put them in quotation marks and click on "results from the UK". This often helps. I also looked for "never been there yet" and this structure seems to exist as well as "in the last years" in combination with the present perfect tense, though both sound a bit odd. Indeed, I have to admit for me "in the last FEW years" would definitely sound better! I usually use Google UK to make sure that I won't get results that were written by speakers of another language than English. Of course, this is no guarantee that a structure found by Google UK is really that of a native speaker of English, but it's definitely more likely. Thanks again!
  20. Prateek has been so kind and already replied to my post. Since you suggested posting my questions here, I'll gladly do so. Prateek, you don't have to answer here. I have already got your answers (Thanks!), but I'm not going to mention them here so that everyone's unbiased. So here they are: I have never been there yet. => I'm not sure if you can use "never" and "yet" in the same sentence. It may be correct, but I'm not sure. I'd either use "never" or "yet". (I've never been there. Or: I haven't been there yet.) They told them not to meet each other. => I'd cross out "each other". Our football team was very successful in the last years. => I'd use HAS BEEN instead of WAS. (Be careful: Here the writer was just obliged to write a meaningful sentence with "successful", so there is no specific context that would connect the sentence with the past.) When I'm long abroad, I am often homesick. => I'd say: When I'm abroad a long time, ... They don't like the style of the other. (Here the writer wants to say that he doesn't like her style and the same way round.) => I'd say: They don't like each other's style. He puts his old clothes in front of the window. (That's from the plot of a play. Actually he puts his old clothes on the ground of the garden of his girlfriend. She is in the house on the first floor (UK first floor) and sees what he is doing through the window.) => Is it ok to use IN FRONT OF here? If not, is there a better version without changing the original sentence too much? Thanks a bunch, guys! I'm looking forward to getting your replies!
  21. Thanks prateek! ...a native speaker of English who has minored or majored in their mother tongue would also be fine.
  22. Hello folks! I'm an English teacher. However, I'm not perfect and I don't know everything. What I want to say is that sometimes correcting my students' essays costs a lot of time because they use words, structures and phrases where I'm not a hundred percent sure if they are wrong or not. It's often quite time-consuming to find out the answer by consulting dictionaries, grammar books and checking several websites on English. So my question is if there is a native speaker of English whom I could sometimes ask about certain structures and grammar here? That would speed up my corrections and I'd be very grateful for someone's help. I'd absolutely prefer a native speaker of English who teaches English themselves. A native speaker of English who has studied/is studying another language would also be fine, because such people are usually aware of the subtleties of languages. By the way, I've recently signed up at a forum which focusses on English. There I can also post questions, but I find the forum's layout a bit confusing. It'll take some time till I have got used to it. If anyone fulfills the above mentioned criteria, I'd be glad to get some help from time to time! Thanks!
  23. I have just bought Maersk Container Ship 10155 on S@H.
  24. You could raise the whole track layout by one plate - as you suggested yourself - and use 2x2 turntables to secure the curves on the baseplates. A picture of such a turntable: http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/3680c01.
