  1. Welcome to our community! Nice to see that another lurker has joined us!
  2. Thanks for this nice review! I won't buy this vehicle since it doesn't go well with all my 4-stud-wide vehicles. However, it's interesting to notice that those old hinges have made a comeback! That's good news, I find.
  3. A pirate's life sounds tempting for me. Being a soldier means obeying the orders of some arrogant officers.
  4. Welcome to our forum!
  5. Hi and welcome to our wonderful forum! I'm happy to hear that you're also into trains!
  6. First I thought you'd present a highspeed train. When I think of Japanese trains, I usually think of high speed trains. It's a very nice moc! It's very close to the original! Keep up that splendid work!
  7. Once I got some 2x3 slopes in bley, though I wanted 2x4 slopes in old grey. I complained and the seller sent me the wanted ones and I could even keep the bley ones. Once or twice it has happened that I got one part to many. I informed the seller - though some people wouldn't - and I could keep the additional brick. But my orders are usually not that big. I think it is more likely that sellers make mistakes with bigger orders.
  8. I definitely love looking at pictures of your layout! Do you never get confused with the control panels? Isn't it hard to say which control panel is for this and that switch/level crossing?
  9. Welcome to our community! I'm sure you'll enjoy it here!

  11. In this case I hope your search will not be in vain. The 80s and the first half of the 90s were great times for town indeed! Welcome to our community, loft archeologist!
  12. I've voted for BSB. I've got such a feeling that BSB would outmaneuver Brickbeards Bounty and send it to the bottom of the sea with its four cannons.
  13. Brickbeard's Bounty is the only pirate that has been able to catch my entire interest. I've always wanted to have a big pirate ship, and now I'm going to get the opportunity to purchase one! I'm really looking forward to its release in Europe!
  14. Hi and welcome to our community!
  15. This is one of the classic sets I love like crazy but I don't have it. This set has a high degree of playability. I'd simply love to have it in my collection. Needless to say that I've voted for superb.
  16. Welcome to eurobricks!
  17. I've been waiting for someone among us to review this set, and here it is: a wonderful review! This ship is really beautiful. Now I'll be able to get a pirate ship for a moderate price. Those prices on bricklink for a new pirate ship are often highway robbery. The only thing I dislike is the oversized shark. Must be a great white one. I prefer the older, smaller sharks, obviously belonging to a different species since they are - as I've said - smaller. The cannons are of no use to scare our cat anyway, by the way. Our cat would surely rush after the cones to catch them. You've given the size of the box in centimetres; I didn't know that people in Australia use the metric system. Edit: ...I've voted for "outstanding," of course.
  18. I've voted for "average." I think this set is praised more than it deserves. I don't find it so appealing. Am I the only one who doesn't like that baseplate? I'd have loved to see a baseplate made of many bricks instead of one big piece. Maybe the set can be sold for a lower amount of money with that baseplate instead of lots of bricks with which you could build a baseplate. The baseplate reminds me of Playmobil. Anyway, thanks for that nice review!

  20. The problem with the old castle walls has been that they have an uneven number of studs (5 studs in length), which makes it difficult to build something with them. But they are very useful to make a construction sturdy. I hope that they won't discontinue the old caslte walls so that we will have two types of castle walls.
  21. Thanks for your help! More help is still appreciated! There is only one door to the room. I'm often careless and don't close it. I must take more care about that. The room is down in the cellar, and there is only one small window that can be opened to let in air. In the room next to this one, there is another room with a mattress, blanket, cushion etc. for guests. So I really must take care about the door, so that no dust from the other room can get in. An electric air filter sounds like a good idea. Does anybody know how much such a thing approximately is? There's a wooden bookshelf. Most of the stuff on it is LEGO, but there are also many old Mickey Mouse magazines on it. I was collecting them in my early teens. Is it better to put them in another room? There's also another bookshelf you can see in the back of the picture. There are some books on it, but many of them are behind glass (glass cabinet), but not all of them. Thanks for that "Preventing dust" addition to the title. It makes the whole thread clearer. Edit: Sometimes I disassemble the whole track layout and clean the room (hoovering plus wet cleaning afterwards), but that's a wearisome business I tend to avoid, but sometimes it's simply necessary. If I do that, I also clean the metallic rails. I use old cloths that I press against the rails and move them along the rails to get rid of the dust on them.
  22. I know there is a thread on how to get rid of dust on LEGO scenes. However, in this thread I'd like to focus on dust and trains. If this is not ok as a separate thread, could one of the mods be so kind and merge this topic with the other topic on dust? Thanks. Well, my problem is this: A lot of dust usually gathers on the train wheels, the train motor (wheels plus top part), bogie plates, train plates (especially the areas where the motor/bogie plates are attached), and on those middle upside down constructions as the Santa Fe engines and waggons have it. The dust reaches as far as the height of one or two plates on the waggon plate. My question: What can I do against all that dust? I sometimes clean the rails, because dust is on them as well. So it is first on the rails and later on the locomotives, but I have no idea where the dust comes from. There is no cushion, bed, carpet or anything else in the room. Look for yourselves:
  23. I just was there yesterday. It was working fine. You must be having a computer or internet problem.
  24. Wonderful review combined with excellent photos! I'd love to have those three splendid buildings plus town plan! I hope I have all of them sooner or later! And it's a nice idea to compare Cafe Green Street to the Town Plan set!
