I'll get a few pics of the light brick tonight when I get home from work, it's much like the other 2x4 bricks with power functions applications from other sets.

Excellent, thought I want to see some more pictures before I start thinking if the price is to high or not. Seems odd for a theme that is going away to have a huge expensive set produced so late in it's run.

INDEXED Snow is fall all around, children playing, having. Up in his workshop a toy maker works away to finish something for Christmas Set Name: Winter Toy Shop Set Number: 10199 Number of Pieces: 815 Figures:7 Released: 2009 List Price: £39.15 (GBP) $59.99 (USD) 59.99 (EURO) 10199Peeron.com 10199 Bricklink Catalog 10199 Shop At Home I got an e-mail this morning telling me this set was on shop@home so I just had to swing by the Lego store and see if they had it. It was on my way home honest! Lets us begin with the box. They're making a big point about the light up brick. Showing the key details of the building. Now for what’s inside. The contents of the box, no numbered bags here. At least it isn’t like the Merry-go-round! Right lets take a look at the people who populate this happy land, a good selection and with women and children. Lego seem to be doing much better at producing a realistic world. The only points I dislike is a lack of printed torsos, though I suppose they’re trying to represent jumpers and cold weather gear. Here they are these hardly folks who like the snow and cold. A close up on the new carol singing face. From this point the review divides in three to look at the three different elements that make up the set. The Bench and Snow Man Carol singers sing and a child prepares to throw a snow ball at them. The bench and snow man are well executed but nothing to write home about, what I really like in this part of the set is the lamppost which is really well done and probably the best I’ve seen. Kids these days. The Tree and Gifts The tree is one of the really highlights of the set for me, its much better than any of the brick built trees we’ve had before in my opinion and the fact that a large amount of it can be rotated at will makes it all the better. The ladder stands up well and looks great, it also about time we saw more brown ladder as a castle fan this will no doubt soon be being used to scale the troll fortress. It’s one large tree and it even has lights. The three gifts here are well made, the jack-in-a-box is the best offering here. I can’t decide what the third one is if it’s a teaddy or some form of robot any ideas? The three gifts, I assume bought from the toy shop. The Toy Shop itself So we come to the main even the toy shop itself. First the fact that Lego has decided to like the Café Corner range not have a stuff floor is good it gives an impression of a wooden floor. Nice use of tiles to make a wooden floor. The build is fairly straight forwards thought the roof sections were a bit fiddeley for me, though that might just be me. Attaching the roof caused me some problems. When it’s completed the sets looks simple picture postcard, I love the look of it and despite quite a high piece count it’s still not really very large so it haves a nice petite quality to it. The front of house. This however doesn’t reduce the detail the workbench inside has a toy car being worked on but the windows have these two great little micro creations. Great detail work makes this set for me. Finally the much anticipated light, I personally don’t see the point in the picture below you can see in use. I wouldn’t have included it myself and I don’t this the set would suffer without it or that its that useful. Did we need it? All together now. All in all a great collection of winter fun. The Rating System Figures: 8/10 (Excellent selection, but could use more printed torsos ) Parts 9/10 (Great selection of parts and a lot of brown.) Fun Fun Fun 8/10 (There’s a lot you can do even with just this one set which is more than can be said for so many of them) Design 9.5/10 (Apart from the light brick which I think is unnecessary I wouldn’t change a thing) Price 9/10 (At £39.15 it’s a steal I was expecting 50+ for this little number.) Grand Total 43.5/50 (A high rating but a fine set deserves nothing less) Conclusion. As set that I’m happy to have in my hope, and I look forward to getting out my ‘Holiday’ train set from a few years ago and putting it along side. I hope we’ll see a few more winter buildings in the years to come though I don’t want to wait to long, hmm maybe a train station.

What if LEGO changed the name of the Castle theme?
Cardinal Brick replied to -The Hyphen-'s topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well if Castle is having a wave this year it'll be under the 'Castle' name and not whatever is chosen in this poll as the lead time is to short to sort out the marketing etc. Personally I quite like the name Kingdoms has a rather grand feeling to it. -
It's also comming to the UK, so I asume Germany as well as our leaflets are printed together normally.

That blacktron suit looks rather intresting I can't wait to see more pictures, the new helmet is also nice. I'm not so sure about the fighter but we'll see what happens.

Computer Game - Napoleon: Total War
Cardinal Brick replied to Sir Wellington's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Looks intresting, though it was obvious this was going to turn up at some stage. Sadly as someone with just a laptop the chances of me playing it any time soon are nil. -
Could be a little bit bigger but apart from that very impressive, how did you do it?

12th Mold: Minifig Customs in 3d
Cardinal Brick replied to woody64's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Woody that looks great, the only thing I wonder about is if the side flaps should be a tad smaller but I can't quite decide. -

Woody is there any chance you'd have a go a making a Capeline or more commonly called a lobster pot helmet Click which was used well into the Seven Years war. -
Lego Marked improvement in half year result
Cardinal Brick replied to legomilk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Makes sence to buy more sets during the recession, you know what you're going to get, you know it's going to last a long time and finally there are far more play posabilities in Lego than most toys. It would seem people are seeking quality over quantity. -
If we really do get a TIE Defender I'm going to be really excited it's one of the few ships I've wanted since the start of Lego Star Wars, now if we could just get an Assault Gunboat aswell, well I can dream.

Thanks for such a good review, of a great set. I'm not much of a space fan but I really like Blacktron I as a theme is just seems so well thought out.

Cardinal Brick replied to The Alchemyst's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for posting that, as I'm heading to the states next month it's nice to know what's on offer. -
Show Your Army, Navy, and Collection Display
Cardinal Brick replied to BillytheKid's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think I have 9 which is odd as they always showed up in in groups of two, though I'd quite like 3 more. -
Thanks for the review, I like this set the only thing I'm not sure about is the size of the dog it'd be nice if it was a tad smaller but then we'd need a load of new parts so I guss it's as small as it could be.

Review 7078 King’s Battle Chariot
Cardinal Brick replied to Cardinal Brick's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I did think that as I handed over my money. Seems a number of people will be buying it for completeness glad I'm not alone. -
Vintage Minifig V3 contains a BLUECOAT!
Cardinal Brick replied to Commodore Hornbricker's topic in LEGO Pirates
I wouldn't get to excieted we had a Ninja in the last pack and Ninja hasn't returned as a theme nor does it look like any Black Falcons are turning up in the Castle range. Just shows Lego knows that the blue coat was an icon like Captain Roger. -
The Lego stores in the UK have the stuff out and for sale though so I asume the website is just a bit behind.

Time to review the least eagerly awaited set of this year castle wave. Set Name: King’s Battle Chariot Set Number: 7078 Number of Pieces: 103 Figures:4 Released: 2009 List Price: £13.99 (GBP) $19.99 (USD) 7078 Peeron.com 5618 Bricklink Catalog 7078 Shop At Home Lets us begin with the box. Lets be honest it doesn’t look great. If you wanted the King to ride the horse why not include a saddle?. Now for what’s inside. The contents of the box, it doesn’t look like much. Random page for the instructions Already looking very bulky. Now for figures, this is the cheapest set you can get the patterned up king in and he does look better than they old Viking torso. Otherwise we’ve seen the torsos before Nothing to write home about. Now part of the build as you can see it look really heavy and big, in my opinion it’s just to big and the weights to much. Big and bulky. Views of the finished chariot. Side. Front. Now something for a little scale How would anyone get into that thing! The Rating System Figures: 6/10 (Apart from the King nothing special. ) Parts 7/10 (Two new dark brown spears and two troll shields plus a blue plume not to shabby.) Fun Fun Fun 6/10 (You can do something g with it and I child might enjoy the play value.) Design 2/10 (Easily the worst chariot in my opinion far to large for only one horse) Price 5/10 (At £13.99 far to pricey in my opinion to justify so few parts if I wasn’t collecting every set in the theme I’m not sure I’d buy it.) Grand Total 26/50 (One of the lowest rating I’ve ever given) Conclusion. It’s sad that this set saw the light of day, it seems like something we’d have seen in KKII rather than the much better designed castle range that we have at the moment. I was told though that with this wave of Castle Lego were concentrating on larger sets for Christmas rather than a general range. I hope we see better next year

Space Police III is in the UK and for sale at the Lego store Bluewater I just got back they have the full range though I didn't have the cash with me to buy any of the large sets
-
Thanks for the review, I wont be importing this from the US in a hurry after reading your review. However I still think I might pick it up next time I'm out there as I think it's an alright set. I have to agree with you there that would have been a much better way to hold the safe.

10196: Grand Carousel/Merry Go Round discussion
Cardinal Brick replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Town
It's a great set and most impressive, but I think I'd want to see one in the bricks before I commented to much. The price is a little high for me sadly. -
Woody why do you have to keep producing so many items when I have no money! The Grenadier shako is great though painting it might be a bit hard as didn't they tend to have a complex pattern. The best of the bunch in my opinion in the Adrian which looks a perfect representation in my opnion.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Characters
Cardinal Brick replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Great poster, it's not based on one of the film posters is it? Not that it matters but it's still one great poster.
