  1. Thanks for the comments everyone, it's nice to hear what other people think aswell. Lego Brand store in Bluewater which despite it being half term (how I don't miss working half term in a museum) doesn't look like it's been raided by locusts for once. Apart from that sadly I don't know where it'll be No problems like that, I didn't think that the blue pin would work but it works fine on mine and when you transform it the wings and command center (ok a bit ott I know) click and lock in so the only bit that isn't rigid is that back. Hope that helps PS I gave it quite a good shake!
  2. We I haven't seen a review of this set yet so I thought I'd go ahead and produce one, though I haven't done one in quite a while so I'll no doubt be a tad rusty so apologies in advance! Set Name: Undercover Cruiser Set Number: 5983 Number of Pieces: 317 Figures:2 Released: 2010 List Price: £24.99 (GBP) . 5983 Peeron.com 5983 Bricklink Catalog So the Space police have decided to go undercover, to me it looks quite like a q-ship. I noticed some complaints about its lack of undercoverness when the first images came out so lets see if its any better in real life. Lets us begin with the box. The ships in attack mode. Here you get to see the conversion Now lets have a look inside the box, not as much Danish fresh air as Star Wars sets but still quite a lot. The contents of the box. A quick look at the instruction booklet. Time to have a look at the sticker sheet. Time to delve into the first bag, bag 1. The Minifigs Only two, I do feel the Space Police sets are a tad on the stingy side when it comes to Minifigs. That said I do like the space police officer the new helmet is very nice as we discovered in January. Jawson has cropped up a lot now in this wave of space police and I'd quite like to see another alien rather than him in every summer set. Front. Side. Bag 1 Model. It's not the most amazing ship ever produced by TLG and you do get the feeling that it's only there to add play value to the Undercover Cruiser but it's better than I would have expected. While it does have two blasters and two flick missiles, it does make me wonder who well armed ships are in the Space police world if this can easily take on a cargo ship. I mean I couldn't see it taking a Blacktron Marauder could you? Side. Overhead view. Time for bag two. Part way through the bag build So with the the model part way completed we can have a look at the ship in action mode, I think to a certain degree this looks like a completed set, and if it was it would be alight but nothing very special. Side view. Overhead view On to bad three. The third bag containes just the engine block for the ship we've already built so just two quick pictures, one of the police side the other of the cargo ship side. Police view Cargo ship view. So time to put it all together and see what it looks like, I have to say I'm impressed considering that a number of the early space police set didn't close properly and weren't the best designs ever the fact that this changes so well between police and cargo ships shows how far we've come. First a look at the ship in police combat mode it's well armed, it does seem to have more weapons than the Galactic enforcer had. Police side Police overhead Now lets look at the ship in cargo mode, it looks like a rather boring and unimportant cargo ship the transformation while not amazing is impressive you wouldn't know it was about to shoot you if you decided to attack it. Cargo ship above. Cargo ship front Cargo ship side. The Rating System Figures: 6/10 (Not a bad selection, but I feel Jawson is to overused) Parts 7/10 (A limited selection of parts.) Fun Fun Fun 8/10 (I like the conversion, though it's not well balanced for swooshing) Design 10/10 (Can’t fault Lego on the design on the main ship) Price 7/10 (£24,99, I was expecting more and I'm more than happy to pay this for this set.) Grand Total 38/50 (Seems a bit low to be, maybe its more than the sum of its parts.) Conclusions When the set first appeared, I like many people wasn't that impressed, it hardly looked like an undercover ship it was covered in Space Police logos and so on. Yet now I've got it in my hand I can see why its called that and that TLG did a great job on brining the concept to life while I think q-ship would be a far better description of it rather than its name. The secondary vehicle isn't that impressive and personally I;'d rather they'd junked that and lowered the price point, but we can't have everything. Overall I think it's a good set and it's something different rather than the same sort of space police sets we've been seeing over the years just with a different twist on the,
  3. Really well done you manage to evoke the feeling of the painting really well. You've selected the most important figuers and recreated them ell (mostly the colour CSA troops), I'm not sure I can suggest any improvments on this.
  4. An excellent review, I've wanted this set for quite a while and now I want it even more. Sad thing is it's one of those sets that isn't that easy to get in the UK as it seems that they did sell to many here.
  5. Well I go away for a while and find all this when I get back, I'm quite impressed though it does all feel a tad formulaic. I'm not to sure about the headgear but I'll reserve judgment on that until I get to have it in my hands. I'm really looking forward to the advent calendar, I wasn't to impressed with the pirate one but this one looks like something I'll be getting a few of.
  6. I hope Pellaeon is right and we do get a wave to tie in with the DVD release, it would make sence though if Lego havn't designed them now the turn around to get them designed and produced and into stores is going to be really tight.
  7. If you've got the lights that fit on top of the battery box I'd suggest trying them and seeing if they work, in which case you can rule out the battery box, next look at the wire if you've got another one or the electric plates try them with the lights if that all works it's a motor issue and things will get quite complex.
  8. Nice figs, where are the legs you used for the first set from though I can't work it out. These do make me hope that we'll see the new blacktron torso end up in the build a mini-fig bins soon at Lego store so I don't have to pay to much for each one.
  9. That quite impressive, I going to have to buy at least two of these one to open and one to join the rest of the collection. It's nice that Lego have decided to produce a set of just women, though maybe they should have also included the Ice Planet woman aswell? Apart from that small question great selection and I look forward to getting my hands on some soon, any idea of a release date?
  10. An excellent prototype, I do wonder though as it was made with a diffrent method than the normal acessories will it be possible to get the same look from the ABS plastic?
  11. Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wing or the Assault Gunboat for me, though I dout we'll ever see it sadly.
  12. That is amazing! I love the concept and the execution doesn't let it down one bit you've done an amazing job. I'd like to make some suggestions for improving your MOC but I just can't it's perfect.
  13. I look forward to seeing better pictures, my eyes aren't good enough to make out much, though i saw names on Brickset which havn't been mentioned here yet. 5985-1: Space Police Central 5983-1: Undercover Cruiser 5984-1: Lunar Limo Two Limos in one year from Lego!?
  14. RoscoPC not a new part, but it's newish it's had a couple of outinge is space police sets so far you can see it on Bricklink. To all the Assault Gunboat/Tie Fighter (game) fans, I wonder if we should petition Lego to give us one next year?
  15. Not to shabby from the looks of the pics, I really like the cargo Loco not so sure about the passanger train but it might grow on me. I don't like the station it reminds me of Maze Hill in London ie dull not discript surburban comuter station that you just want to passs though quickly to get home.
  16. I like this set, the new torso looks great as well could well become a classic in future years. As for the name it's the 'Smart Car but just diffrent enough so we didn't have to pay for a licence'
  17. I don't think it's flimsy in the slightest, the wings don't use hinges but angled technic pieces so they're at a set angle, its damn well held together you could drop it and I doubt the wings will fall off. The flight pod does rotate around but I'm sure I can think of a way to fix that.
  18. I was planning to start a project to review all the Unitron space series today, however I needed to go and buy some odds and end and I ended up in the lego store. One of the employees sidled over and asked if I was interested in the new Star War sets. I said I was and in a moment a new box of TIE Defenders appeared, I asked if I could have one and he said I could, so I bought it and now here's a review for all of you who aren't as lucky to have a Lego shop and an amazing staff who go out of their way to help you! Finally we've got one of the starfighters that I've wanted Lego to produce ever since they started the Star Wars series. The Tie Defender, my second favourite star fighter after the Assault Gunboat maybe Lego would like to produce one next. Set Name: TIE Defender Set Number: 8087 Number of Pieces: 304 Figures:2 Released: 2010 List Price: £39.99 (GBP) Others aren't confirmed yet. 8087 Peeron.com 8087 Bricklink Catalog It shouldn't be out till January but lets take a look at it now! Lets us begin with the box. I personally don't like the Clone War boxes but the Battle of Endor looks good. Showing the landed fighter being reloaded with missiles. Now lets have a look inside the box, as with every Star Wars set we get a lot of Danish fresh air. The box opened up see all the free space. The contents of the box, nice numbered bays. And finally a picture of the all important instructions. The Minifigs We only get two, its normal for the licensed set to have less minifigs however I think that for £39.99 a stormtrooper and one Tie pilot even one with a new helmet is a little cheap, perhaps they could have included Grand Admiral Zaarin ? The Stormtrooper and the TIE Pilot included in the set. Comparison of the old and new TIE Pilot Front. Side. Not I huge difference the new helmet is nice, however it does mean that it's going to be expensive to replace the kit of your TIE corp with the latest models. The Model. Now lets looks at the model itself, as with any of the TIE models produced by Lego the build is going to be a tad repetitive but the box looks work it, so time to find out if the model is. The first stage to complete is the central pods, here we have it mid build. Pod under construction. The Wings You're going to be building six of these however each of them doesn't take long and they don't look that bad when they're completed. These take up all the part that are provided in bag '2' Three of the wing part you've got to build six in total. Now lets put them together When the wings panels are attached to the central section. The complete model. Finally with the wings added to the pod we have the model complete in all it's glory it looks great in my opinion, a well made set that looks like the ship we've seen in the X-wing series of games. I think this and last years Darth Vader TIE Fighter shops how far Lego have come since the first TIE Fighter. Front of the TIE Defender. Back view of the TIE Defender. he Rating System Figures: 7/10 (Not a bad selection nice to have a new pilot helmet but nothing special or amazing) Parts 7/10 (A limited selection of parts.) Fun Fun Fun 10/10 (Once you’ve built it there’s quite a lot of play and fun to be had here even a lot of swosihing) Design 10/10 (Can’t fault Lego on the design looks just like it should) Price 9/10 (£39,99, I was expecting more and I'm more than happy to pay this for this set.) Grand Total 43/50 (A high rating but a fine set deserves nothing less) Conclusions As I've said it's one of the best Star Wars sets, I am biased as it's a ship I already love. Lego have come along way since the first TIE set they produced all those years ago. I like the new pilot though the set could have included a special minifig like Grand Admiral Zaarin though I understand that few people would know who he was. For once the prince seems fair for a Star Wars set in the UK which is odd or I'm just getting use to the prince, I'm certainly planning on getting a few more in the future.
  19. I love both the chopper and the limo! It's a viery diffrent concept from what City normally has and it's something that has't been tackled before. Ps Svelte I'll more than happily take the chopper of your hands!
  20. Looks a nice little set and thanks for the review, I like the new rock monster style but as has been said I think I'll wait to see what the European price is going to be before I comment further on this set.
  21. Sounds very intresting I can't wait to see what's going to happen, though I would like to hear some more if any more info is about!
  22. Thanks for providing a review so quickly after this set went on sale it's always nice to have a look at a new set nice and early. I like the set and I will certainly add it to my colection, though I agree with you a cape wouldn't be to much to ask of the designers.
  23. Excellent work I really love it the one problem is that I can't buy it as a set!
  24. \i love the look of the TIE defender it's the only one in this wavw I'm really intrested in, but I dread to think what the UK price for it's going to be!
  25. The parts look quite good but they are very very expensive in my opinion, I doubt I'll be ordering them.
