Experience sourcing parts for out-of-production sets?
eurotrash replied to badbob001's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I thought about it, but didn't really have the patience to deal with multiple BL stores, but the real showstopper for me was the high cost - you're still going to be looking at a $300-$500 build from scratch. And for that kind of cash I was able to BL and build a whole bunch of Modular MOCs. If you do decide to do it then keep us posted in that thread and Good luck! -
Ooooh! England vs Poland World Cup Qualifier next Tuesday.... I'm going to take some time off work and watch it.

Nicely done. It's like Lego is the new Duct tape - it fixes everything!

Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
eurotrash replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
However they're getting these pieces (and I'm afraid to ask) I'm grateful that we, as end consumers, can get them easily. There may be a premium prices to be paid, but no-one is twisting our arms to buy. -
Good looking MOC! I think, with a little, tweaking it could be morphed into a Tuk-Tuk. And that's just what my City needs! Thanks for sharing.

Towards the end of the Jurassic period, the Thesaurus was the first dinosaur to become extinct, obsolete, belated, vanished and wiped out.....

You could always hide (in plain sight), say, Harry Potter, R2D2, Capt Jack Sparrow's, and other assorted minfigs (plus a brick built Tardis) and get the spectators to play spot the oddities.... Just don't tell them how many there are.

I agree with Legofin2012 in that building and especially sorting Lego is good for you. It clears the mind and gives you a sense of accomplishment when all those loose pieces finally find their right home! I went to the local Natural History Museum and was looking at the dinosaur bones. I asked the Curator how old the bones were. He replied: "They are 3 million, four years, and six months old." "That's incredible," I said. "How do you know their age so precisely?" The Curator said "Well, they were three million years old when I started working here, and that was four and a half years ago."

Mini-scale buildings: remake of 310 Esso station
eurotrash replied to SalvoBrick's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Good job! I've got fond memories of that 60's scale... -
Ringo in the UK, George in the US.... not sure who voiced the show in other territories. Wow! A quick check on wikipedia listed seven narrators including Pierce Brosnan and Alec Baldwin....

Excellent layout and a definite crowd pleaser!

Spot on old school ! Like it. A lot.

Looks good! And that swirling fog effect is the perfect finishing touch. I like the Graveyard and the fact that the Village People decided to turn up. Very Halloween-y. Oh, and I remember your studio/build area from your posts when you were putting that together - it's good to see the MOCing and Building take place there!
-
It looks good with that extra level. Now could you photoshop a freakin' seagull in it somewhere as well?

REVIEW: 70010 Lion CHI Temple
eurotrash replied to PenPlays's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This is a well written and comprehensive review. I'm probably definitely the wrong demographic for Chima (being an old fart) but I like the piece/color options and if I can get this cheap then it seems a good option. Thanks for doing the review! -
Welcome, Kevin, to the forums! We'd like to see your MOCs when you're ready (I had to google Pierce Velocity to see what it was). I think you'll find us supportive and encouraging (but you already know that!)

That's a great MOC. I really like the Truck (especially the front grill) and the Diner - that shape is very evocative. The scenery you've used is very lifelike. I've driven down roads that look exactly like that! I think my favorite piece though is the Beefburger sign on top of the Diner - it's making me hungry! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Welcome to the forums Neil. I think you'll find us very supportive and encouraging as you build and develop your MOC skills. Oh, and I lived in England and it was never, ever sunny...

That's a good looking MOC. I like the color combo you've used and the 1x1 sign looks really effective, but I think it's the interior is what stands out - you've managed to get a lot into the space. Thanks for sharing it with us!
