Trust me - if these pieces come from a multiple smoking cat house you want the washing machine. Soaking wasn't enough to remove the odour and I had no damage from the washing machine. But do set it to gentle wash.

I try this with some of the smaller sets (like the City vehicle range). It makes it more of a challenge and forces you to think like a designer rather than a builder. Taking a small set or two without the instructions and just an image of the completed set is a great way of passing time on vacation!

I picked up a discounted copy of this at Sam's Club. Good pictures and plenty of things to inspire you. Only downside is that there a few too many micro-scale MOCs for me and the instructions are somewhat on the illegible side. Overall I say it's a good stocking stuffer for Xmas.

My wife bought me a huge collection of second hand bricks that came from a home that must have had several dozen smoking cats. I soaked them in batches in the sink using Dawn dish-soap and agitated them by hand and rinsed them. Then I used a sail bag (very fine mesh) and ran them through the washing machine on a cool wash setting (again in batches). Then I let them air dry. They came out tobacco and cat-pee free.
