You've done a great job on this MOC. I particularly like the detailing around the arch. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Yep! The original leak was via a Czech website. I googled DMP inititals Czech but ended up with "Dullest Man in the Pub"

Very recognizable! I like the flare you've managed to achieve with Jay's jacket. Actually both jackets are impressive . Nice job!

Those are good looking MODs Finnbricker. The only suggestion I'd make would be to group the windows on the front facade into two groups of two rather than the one-two-one arrangement you have at the moment.

Be careful grum64! Creating Lego buildings can be a slippery slope to madness.... I like the textures you've got on the Chimney. You could also use a couple of 98283's and 2877's in the appropriate colors to add a bit more variety. The log rack out the back is a nice touch and the interior looks good. You might consider showing some of the brown roof through the white snow so that it's not one mass of color. Merry Christmas to you and yours...

Hey Malolou! I saw this yesterday on the Facebook page and on your Flickr page. As I said then it's an impressive display, but now that I've had some time to explore the details it looks even more fun. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the build. There's some lovely vignettes. Tip of the chapeau!

I saw this on my phone yesterday, but I had to wait until I could see the images full sized on my laptop before I commented. This is excellent work. I love the facade of the main structure - it's ornate without being too fussy and the color palette is very effective. I particularly liked the use of those monochrome minifigs as relief on the rear wall and the large glass walls to front and rear - it looks just like a station should. And I really liked the interior vignettes you built throughout. I get a sense that there's a story happening everywhere and that we could all spend a long time just gazing. Tip of the hat!

You guys are right of course and I was struggling with that aspect of the design for a while (before I gave up on it). There's two problems that I encountered. First, building on a baseplate doesn't give you any depth of drilling pipe into the negative space to really play with. I found this to be important because of the weight that the additional pipe could add. In it's current form it's incredible light and bounces around all over the place. The second problem is the height difference between the low stroke of the cycle and the high stroke. It's just over four bricks high and that meant that the well head needed to be at least five high to ensure that the light drill pipe stayed where it was as it went up and down. Do you have any suggestions? I think my current preferred plan of building it on a raised structure then using a rocker and cam underneath to push the pipe up and down (rather than from the top pulling it up/down) means that at least I'd get the look and feel consistently right, but getting the timing right is going to be a fun challenge. This sounds like the beginnings of a mighty oil exploration and extraction empire! I'm in!

It's always good to see someone think outside the box in these competitions and yours is definitely out there. Good looking snow techniques, a little humour (although the woman with the convertible doesn't seem to see the funny side) and a structure & design that wouldn't look out of place in a Modular layout all your round (once the snow melts). I kind of like the idea of Santa's sleigh hiding in a lockup storage unit for 11 months of the year. Thanks for sharing it with us!

I'm the autocratic dictator of my city and the TH has already been recycled into inventory. So, there'll be no dissent tolerated - especially from a zippie full of dismembered minifigs. I watch CNBC - the financial news network - and for every story about the decline in Oil prices they'd use the same stock footage of some Nodding Donkeys in a field in the midwest. I wanted something PF powered and they were topical. The fence is really just a cleaned up version of the broken down one I built for my Car Repair Shop http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=84426 Thanks for all the comments!

Sacrilege! The Italian Job was a classic, fantastic movie and it's a British institution. The 'remake' has none of the charm, wit or action.

Exceptionally well done!

Nodding Donkey After the fun I had with the Chinese Laundry and the power functions I had to build something that again 'moved and shaked' and with the recent decline in oil prices I thought a Nodding Donkey would be an interesting build. If you are unfamiliar with these they are simple pumping mechanisms that are used to retrieve Oil or Water from underground. The product is then either stored locally in a tank or piped to a processing plant. I built it in a modular format so that it could fit into my City. The 'A' frame is made of four Technic bricks that in turn were wrapped in tiles to cover the holes. Here's a shot from the rear showing the storage tank and the mechanicals A concerned local citizen has noticed oil leaking from the well head. Here's the details of the step-down gear box that I built to slow the m-motor down to a point where the Nodding Donkey looked more natural and less like a bucking bronco. And finally a link to a short video of the machine in action. I placed the m-motor on the ground floor of my Downtown Museum/Noodle Shop and ran the long axle through the adjacent wall. https://flic.kr/p/qaZuhE I hope you like it and as usual comments, criticism and ridicule are most welcome!

Majkel The display is fantastic. I love the mix of colors you've used and the feeling of decay and neglect you've achieved. I know how difficult it can be to get the right balance and you certainly nailed it. Some of the outstanding details I really like are the vegetation-covered abandoned Forklift, the boat floating in that fetid-looking water, the broken roof joists in that second image. Also those trees look fantastic and the images are well composed with someone with a good eye for the detail. Welcome to the darkside Majkel, but be warned there's no turning back now!
