  1. Yep. 8 of those lime 1x1 slopes! The garage is minifig scale for sure. The graffiti stickers have a white base unfortunately.
  2. Check this out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...tem=17001601423 Even if that "foolish" guy craps out, there is still a reliable bidder below him at 800. Crazy. I was willing to pay about half that... but this is just too much. Oh well. Maybe next year.
  3. Here's a picture I found on Bricshelf a while ago: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=192150 Luckily, I haven't gotten any like this yet. I don't think he is saying the one without Lego logo is an actual Lego product. It is the "lego-like" crap we seen on Ebay etc.
  4. Jipay > Well if so I'd be dead curious to see a "real" brick without lego on it ! Indeed! However, I am currently building a set with my kids, and I have to say the ability to make out details on the new instructions (Tuner Garage.... my kids may post a review!) is appalling. Worse than I had realized. This is emerging as the major quality control issue these days for me.
  5. Also, does not take PayPal, which increases the hassle factor. Also, more negatives than usual for a quality seller. Not that 97.9 is terrible, but I am used to dealing with 99% or higher. 11 neg feedbacks in the last year.
  6. But he said brick... I assume that meant a basic brick. I know some of the very specialized pieces may not have a Lego on them, but a basic brick?
  7. And now...... Patrick!!!!
  8. Yikes! that sounds horrible. But, before we all pile on the Lego Company (of which I am not an employee) I agree the instructions have become problematic with the different shades of gray and black being hard to tell some times. This to me is the biggest change from 5 years ago to now - instructions are CLEARLY far less readable. It is to the point where my kids need help with them. It is a major problem in my opinion I find it hard to believe there are Lego bricks in a Lego set which do not have the Lego name on them. Regular bricks?? If true, that would be very disturbing. As for the rest.... Parts breaking is hardly a new phenomenon - shield handles, clips on saddles, and bars on flags (the kind that are used to hide the cannons for pirate constructions) - have been routinely broken. Much of the other criticism is a set design issue. Using excessive large pieces, same thing. That's a whole different problem. And yes, of course it is done to save money. That's the whole point. I don't like it, but somewhere someone at Lego has made this decision consciously, based on the target market of 7-12 year old boys. All else are just a distraction.
  9. It's excellent. Easy on the eyes, very Lego-ish. My new default skin for sure.
  10. But if I give number three dark grey arms, he looks so... grey. There's almost no variety in his color, that's why I gave him light grey arms. How about light gray arms and legs. It just looks wierd to my eyes. That way the body would look like it was dressed in a dark gray jacket.
  11. #1 or 3. 3 would be better if you can get his arm colour to match his leg colour. Otherwise, I would pick 1.
  12. That's why I don't print them and build "off my notebook" ;-) I used to print them off at work before I got my laptop. Those days are long gone thank goodness.
  13. LOL. These days the number of stickers on a set is the main determinant of how "hard" a set is to build. I remember the destroyer droid - that was tricky, I agree. The main thing about the big pneumatic sets is that you have to keep the various tubes aligned and keep track of them as the build progresses. When you do this from black and white Peeron instructions...... it can be a challenge.
  14. I'm curious which set people think is the most challenging Lego build ever. Obviously none are THAT challenging, since it's just a toy, but there is a difference between sets. Off the top of my head: original ISD 10030 Airtech Claw rig 8868 (sorry, had to throw it in. EVeryone knows it's my fav set) Large crane truck Statue of Liberty 3450 I'm sure I've overlooked some.....
  15. there's one in barrie and niagara falls but i wish there was one in TO Wait, I'm confused. There can't be a "Lego Store" in Barrie with a Bricks and Blocks in Cookstown only 10 minutes away. I presume the Lego Store you are referring to is the B&B at the Cookstown Outlet Mall. However, is there a "Lego Store" in Niagara Falls? I was not aware of anything Lego-ish there. B&B is very nice for sets, but they don't have the gear that Lego Stores tend to carry, which I sometimes like to get. Can you clarify Prateek?
  16. Totally agree that Black Knight figs were superior to classic castle. I placed more emphasis on the structures, but from that perspective, one could say that this would break the tie in the favour of BK.
  17. http://www.brickfilms.com/films/1688 Well, new to me, anyway. Maybe some people here have seen it before.
  18. Interesting though, black knight is 6085, strictly speaking. I was thinking of it as classic castle. So it comes down to whether I like 6080 best, or 6085 best, and that's not obvious to me. So, let's call it a tie on the basis of the best big castle. Lets look at the rest of the theme to break the tie. Black knights Highlights: 6086 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6086 6082 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6062 Classic Legoland Highlights: 375 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/375_2 6061 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6061 Guarded inn http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6067 Black Falcon 6074 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6074 So, really, I think on the basis of the supporting cast, Classic Castle/Legoland still wins. Phew!
  19. Obviously classic: 6080, 6085 have no parallels. Forestmen are a distant second, but just don't think of them as "castle". And.... in that vein, check out this auction: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=170016014238 My prediction: $478 dollars (but hopefully I am wrong, since I intend to be the owner of that one!)
  20. Feel free to add my initial post to anything pastedon lugnet. The new ownership (German dudes from 1001steine ,no?) has been in effect for quite some time, and I see no change. Maybe they are planning to do something spectcular all at onces, and it takes some time to plan. I'm not hopeful. There is no good will left in that community any more. G ...net. Ethernet ;-) Use a newsreader. Outlook Express[1] is the easiest if you just want to post text. It's like writing an e-mail. [1] Usenet purists please disregard... I used to use a newreader, but long since stopped. It was an online interface, though. I've not been successfu lin getting outlook express to work for me. Has anyone?
  21. Not the best ever. 2001 was the best ever. However, 2003-2005 were a wasteland. This year, the Piraka are cool, the Voya Nui Matoran are cute and fun, and Axon and Brutaka are excellent. I don't care much for the look of the Toa Inika, but they have good construction. The worst ever were the Toa Hordika and the Visorak. No interest at all. Those actively turned my kids off Bionicle, and they haven't really returned to it since, which is kind of sad.
  22. ARRRGGHHHH!!!! RANT ON: Lugnet is so annoying. Why do those old dinosaurs who hang out there insist on that retarded message posting system? Why can't they go into the 21st century with one of the modern forum systems, like, say... Invision! I know it's Usenet newsgroups, not a forum. So what? Usenet Newgroups were what I used in 1992 when I first got online, BEFORE the internet as we now know it even existed!! I know there are those vast archives of old posts in those old newsgroups, etc, but how hard can it be to extract and archive that data and make it searchable. In fact, many newsgroups have full archives of all their past posts. There is software out there which does this. That site is dying partially because of all the sociopaths who pick a fight over any little thing, but in equal measure because of the retarded system for communication. Half the time I try to post it just disappears into the ether. Another quarter of the time it almost instantly goes up, and the rest of the time it takes days from message to when I can "authenticate" my post. The process is so painful that I only go there when i am truly desperate for information, and half the time I can't get my post up. WHY?? WHY?? WHY??? So much information, such a great resource, and such a retarded antiquated, antediluvian, obsolete, outmoded, unnecessarily complex and unwieldly interface. Maybe someone from EB who is more active at Lugnet than I am can explain this insanity to me. Or maybe they can relay to the admins (yet again, I am not the first, for sure) the stupiditiy of the current format and how it is contributing to the decline of this once great website. RANT OFF: Peace. Gyl
  23. So far to my knowledge they have only been released in Hong Kong, which for some reason is the place where nearly all the cool Lego gear is first available from. However, I predict these will be readily available in the USA at LegoLand and some Lego stores in the next month, and maybe even at S@H (but S@H is highly unpredictable). If that fails, you can always get them on eBay or bricklink in the next week or two.
  24. Spongebob Keychains! Now I can die. The best keychain of 2006. Maybe the best in history of Lego. Possibly the best keychain ever made. Some would say, the best useless consumer item ever conceived of by human mind. Perhaps I exaggerate.... but it's a beautiful thing. There is a Patrick Keychain coming also, but I have yet to receive it. *wub* :-D http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/k...s/spongebob.jpg
