  1. Incredibly, for an old fart, I like the modern airport building in 7894 the best. Open concept, lots of glass, and I love that revolving door. However, the stupid airplane is utterly useless, fit only for the parts bin, and so overall the set itself gives far less play and value for hte money compared to the classic century skyway, which I voted for. I would happily buy several copies of the 7894 set without the airplane, priced at some fair cost.

No no! Like Jipay said, They are some real minifigs :real heads, hats, torsos and all! I was talking about the 4 faces in the picture I quote in my post. They look like computer generated graphics, not like photos. But those are actually the banners for the topics, not for the skin. The figs I understand were from photos. You see, how little I understand about this......

So you made these faces from scratch, and pasted some of them on Alex's minifig's faces. Is that right? I really must try this. I think I have PHotoshop somewhere. Very nice.

From what I understood BM designed and made the backdrop and Alex54 provided the pics which he took himself. So they are photos of real figs, put on a homemade background of houses and trees. I am even more impressed. The pictures have to somehow be turned, tilted, increased, decreased in size to create the perspective, and still they look so sharp and "in the picture". I am sure if you know what you are doing this is not terribly hard, but for a tyro like me, it seems very complex.

Very very nice. What software do you use? Where did you get the background pics and the good qualilty pics of the figs - did you download them somewhere?
  6. As usual, I side with the old folks. Every fleshie I get goes into the parts bin, and there is a great big place in my heart for the smilies. I don't think all those angry, crazy, scary, etc etc faces have added anything to my enjoyment of the toy. To me the smilie is the face of Lego. Nothing else.
  7. My name is Gyl I'm a man ..... Oh, did I mention I have no imagination?
  8. LOL. That will be 2.9% of all future sales to EB members.... :-P Early retiredment, here I come! Kidding. I'm not a space guy myself, but I thought a few of the guys here might enjoy putting some of these into their MOCs. Cheers. Gyl
  9. Some of you SW people and space fans might find this bricklink store worthwhile. http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=sith35 I don't know the seller, nor have I done business with them, but feedback seems good, and when I saw the items I immediately thought of some of the EB SW fans. Enjoy.
  10. My first reaction is more in line with Natelite and Snefroe. A bit of Meh, mixed with Bleh. Depends on prices I guess I might get 1 or 2 of those aqua sets.
  11. Final update to this saga. Apparently that epfoolish dude ended up not paying for the item! http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...16014238&de=off Dickhead!
  12. Yep. If the axle goes all the way through, I guess the hands and feet are more likely to not fall off, as compared to the problem we have when the axle goes only half way through. However, it still does not address the looseness of the joint, which is always a problem with ankles since they have to hold the whole weight of the beast.
  13. >brand new ball joint that has the axle hole all the way through. YOu mean this one? http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=x1669
  14. As previously noted, there is no doubt that competition with Megabloks as been good for Lego fans. It's forced TLC to be more creative, do some things to lower costs so they could be more competitive (AS LONG AS THE BRICK QUALITY IS STILL UNTOUCHED), and to open up to the fans, to see what they want. The younger whippersnappers around here don't remember what TLC was like 5 or more years ago. TOTALLY insulated from the fans, and the impact of AFOLS was absolutely big fat zero. Nothing. From a historical point of view, it may be the increasing success of Megabloks with specific themes that forced TLC to consider and then undertake the Starwars license which saved the company. Jinzo, that MOC is awesome. What joints hold that guy up? Does he truly support his own weight in all different poses?
  15. I'm with Grevious. While I have no megabloks sets, and carefully pick all the MB stuff and toss it when I somehow turns up, and I've done my share of MB jokes on EB, this does not mean we have to bash the people who use MB, or their forum. Frankly, their discussion on why Lego people don't like MB was a lot more rational and articulate than what I have read in the postings in our topic. These people are hardly "twisted and sick". This type of attack on people who have not done us any harm, who choose to use a product we don't use, smacks of insecurity. Jeez, live and let live people.
  16. You can buy pounds and pounds of bionicle bits off eBay for relatively little money. For 10$ US you can get a single current cannister set. Or, for the same money you can get most or all of the bits and pieces from 5-10 Toa/Matoran from 2001-2005. You're not paying for instructions, for cannisters, or for masks (which can be useful, but usually are not). Besides you can't do much with a cannister. If you buy sets, then you need about a half dozen cannister sets, in pairs, and also a bigger set or two (I recommend Makuta, as he is going cheap these days on eBay and has excellent joint pieces). You need at least 2, but realistically 4 or 6 large sturdy joints, not ball joints, if you want to build anything bigger than a Toa. You can just buy these off Bricklink, but if you get a Makuta set or two, you will have them as well as the associated parts.
  17. About the 2 BSBs, are you saying that you want to trade a SES for 2 bsbs? If it were 1 SES for 2 BSB then this would be a many more tempting offering but as BSB has been released again some years back that leaves SES more rarer and therefore of more value. So this is why trading a singular BSB for a singular SES is not a good deal to many. Do you have a really good condition box for the BSB?
  18. For a birthday present to an Adventurers lover Ideally, MISB, if not at least a good quality box with instructions. Hard to find these days, and I don't have time to wait for it to appear on Ebay for a non-insane price. Payment by paypal , cash in mail, or by trade for another set or sets of equal or more value. PM me if you are interested.
  19. That's why I only put it at 200$. Normally a set like that would go for double that. He is showing a picture of the actual set, which does tend to increase one's confidence somewhat, but I agree it a bit of a crapshoot buying off this guy. We shall see....
  20. Frankly, I have found the swtich to reddish brown more difficult to deal with than the bley problem. It's hard to make decent looking earth and trees out of reddish brown. It just looks wrong! I stockpiled a bit of brown, but nowhere near enough if I need to build something serious. Sign.
  21. http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Darth...&itemID=6774940 This person on bricklink is selling 9 at a fair enough price. Cheers.
  22. prediction: $217
  23. Thanks for that hilarious (and useful) review. This one seemed to me to be the least useful, price for value, of all the viking sets released so far - not that many figs, a whole crapload of bionicle pieces, the dragon just looks kinda lame. Unlike previous sets, it's hard to buy this one just for the figs and other parts, because the dragon is a major part of the set. Still, with a fun review I always reconsider... Thanks again.
  24. Thanks Snefroe. I like the historical perspective. Amazing to that much of what we think of as Lego now actually began in 1978 (other than the plastic brick). 1978 was also the year of the yellow castle.
  25. That review was not by a real Lego or Technic or Mindstorms person, but by a journalist who has never built with Mindstorms, and never will. It was just a propaganda piece. Let's see what real users say. <awaits Dunamis' review>
