I'm a little nervous that the bear form of Beorn won't be in this next wave.

I'm fine with Theoden not being in that set, he had the same armor as Helms Deep and "Silver" from the Lone Ranger sets makes an adequate Snowmane. But I'll admit that a white horse with printed armor would be nicer.

I think they missed on two beasts that would have sold pretty well with kids and afols, the fell beast and Mumakil. Both could have been made is army builder-ish sets because I'm sure many people would have bought multiples of both. I know I would have!

I agree, Bolg did look taller initially but as they got closer, the heights seem to even out to the point where they looked the same to me.

Whether Radagast was battling at Dol Guldur or not, I'm SO happy to get him via the DGB set. I didn't think we'd get him at all after him not making wave 1.

TRU often gets a sample case of their items prior to their main shipment, so maybe this was the same situation. It's usually 2+ weeks after the sample case that they appear again online and instore with the main shipment.

It would be interesting to know what they originally planned as the lineup for the second/last film, knowing that lineup would show which sets weren't "top tier" in the final two waves. Maybe after they announce the sets for part 3, they will tell us.

I agree that there must be another LOTR wave, a Fell Beast/Witchking set seems to be a no brainer and since we haven't seen one yet, I would think that implies a third wave. As said before, since they called the Ent that comes with Orthanc just a generic Ent it seems a Treebeard could be planned as well. If they didn't intend to release Treebeard you would have thought they would have had him with Orthanc. But... since the Hobbit was originally supposed to be two movies, were they intending on releasing a third LOTR after the second/last movie?

Awesome, I just ordered them for 15% off and got to use the $20 eGift card they just emailed me from my rewards. I cannot believe TRU is selling them at retail price, it must be a mistake by whomever entered them into the system.

Yeah I was disappointed in the Mirkwood Elves I got as well, I ended up buying a few different color elf hair/ears off of Bricklink to make them look better. I'm thinking of buying an extra Fili to use his hair on Eomer for a helmetless look.

A possible Erebor set could also come with the "secret" entrance as a play feature. I think that they had planned an Erebor set as the "big set" for this year since it was originally supposed to be the second of two movies. The big Dol Guldur set from this year was likely created as filler when the series was split into 3 sets. My hope is that since BOFA is screaming for army builder sets that they seize the opportunity and give the fans what they want. Hopefully that'll explain the lack of armored Elves from this year's waves.

So for missing main characters, we would still need a Galadriel (Maybe in LOTR wave), Beorn in bear form, and Smaug. Assuming the BOFA plays out somewhat like the book, we'll need more orcs, armored Elves, armored Men, Iron Hills Dwarves and maybe more Eagles and Wargs. I'm holding out hope that the 3rd Hobbit wave will have an elaborate Erebor Front Gate set with those cool giant statues. They could do a separte treasure room set that could connect and then maybe another smaller add on set ala Uruk Hai Army with the Helms Deep wall extensions.

The Mirkwood Elf Army pack sounds like this years Uruk Army set. They both contained a named character (Thranduil for this one and Eomer for Uruk Army), some generic soldiers and a beast (horse/warg). I modded my extra 3 Eomers to be generic Rohirrim and I'm sure we'll find a way to mod Thranduil into a generic elven soldier. If it looks as good as I expect it to be, I'll be getting a few and probably more when good sales pop up. I'm loving what this wave seems to contain, my biggest disappointment is that Galadriel isn't in the Dol Guldur set because I figured it would be our best chance to get her since her other scenes aren't action oriented and less likely to be made into sets.

As much as Mount Doom is important to ROTK, I'd hate for one of the remaining valuable slots to be used up on it. We already have Sam, Frodo and Gollum so it would be overlap as far as minifigs are concerned. If they had Isildur and Elrond it would be a little better, but as far at Mt Doom is concerned, I MUCH rather have a prologue themed set with Sauron, numenor soldiers, elven soldiers, orcs, Gil Galad, Elendil, Elrond, and Isildur.

After all the terrible descriptions from people that saw earlier leaked images I was expecting something awful. I like the look, come on, the guy turns into a giant bear he needs to not look like your typical dude.

Yes, 'Renegade007cjh' could be a huge Castle fan that has been ticked that LOTR/Hobbit "stole" slots from Castle these past two years and is projecting their hopes in their made up rumor. The absence of anything Gondor, Pelennor Fields, Prologue/Sauron, and Fell Beast related suggests at least another wave is planned.

As long as we get Shadowfax, WitchKing/Eowyn, Gondor Knights, and a prologue set I'll be content. But I REALLY want a Mumakil set! I'd buy a couple of those for sure. With probably only 1 more wave remaining, they are leaving quite a few army builders on the table: -Prologue Elves -Prologue Knights -Gondor Knights -Gondor Rangers -Helms Deep Elves -Wildmen of Dunland -Battle Trolls -Haradrim -Easterlings -Moria Orcs -Gondor Citadel Guards
