I also noticed that the Council of Elrond image from the bonus game even has the same white brick weapon rack with grey tile topper like the preliminary set image has.

Yes it does: The black gate also is half just like the set: The Corsair ship looks close too, except they raised the sails up so you could run freely under them: The bonus level Lothlorien also looks like what I would expect a possible set to look like:

^ Great point and really makes sense. I guess he's probably a lock for the wave before the next movie. I always loved the giant eagles in LOTR and now the Hobbit, I hope through either a LOTR set or Hobbit (Wouldn't be until the third movie now) that we get an opportunity to get at the very least one. I'd personally love several.

I was surprised that there wasn't a Bjorn set in the first wave because he was initially supposed to be in the first film. He just seems like he'd have great kid appeal, but maybe he is being kept from spoilers like Azog.

Actually they are throwing us a bone and it's only 18 months, part 2 in December 2013 and part 3 in summer of 2014.
