  1. @Jetflap, Sensational collection but can you say which are the ten you prefer (click here)?
  2. My minifigure on the right of this pic uses an Elves hairpiece. Don’t know if that helps…
  3. Hello, Willie :~) There was a moulded crow in 2013 albeit as a headgear ornament with a small pin attachment.
  4. The variety of tastes within the AFOL community never ceases to amaze me! I didn't expect much overlap but am surprise how little there is. There seems to be some between @Peppermint M and me and I could see myself getting some of @Alexandrina's favourites, but otherwise, not much intersection with other AFOLs. @CloneO Patra, I didn't mean to exclude nostalgia as a motivation. I just didn't want this thread to become a wish-list of sets some EuroBrickers may once have had. Indeed, nostalgia was in part a driver in some of my picks. In 2014, for example, I sourced the parts needed for 6927 All-Terrain Vehicle as it had been one of my favourites as a teen in the '80s. I didn't still have my original one from back then; it had long since gone to charity. So I bought the parts that I didn't already have and re-built it. It's still in my display collection:
  5. @BardDandelion, Fantastic in every sense! Even though I haven’t played Warhammer since the ‘80s or WFRP (the Warhammer RPG) since the ‘90s, I instantly recognised the source. The deity figure is particularly well done
  6. The hat is still in production anyway, albeit in a different colour (blue), in the Series 22 CMF troubadour (bard). It’s making and maintaining the moulds that costs, not changing the colour. So it’s not surprising to see the mould used in another set. Does that mean, it’ll be used in the 90th anniversary castle set? Maybe, it depends on the usage required to get an ROI. Doubtful anybody outside of LEGO knows for sure. Speaking of re-using moulds, in the forthcoming Orchids Botanicals set, there’s a recolour and reprint of demogorgon’s hood piece from the Stranger Things Upside Down set. (If that’s already been mentioned in this thread, apologies to the poster.)
  7. Don’t think the new dual-moulded flame piece in the Hungarian Horntail set has been mentioned. The mould itself isn’t new, but the mauve colour at the base where it’s hottest and orange towards the tip where it’s relatively cooler hasn’t been done before. I’ll be looking to get my mitts on that piece.
  8. One of the great travesties of the toy world: that LEGO never did a balrog or fell beast when it had the LOTR licence! Shelob was cool but brick-built, not moulded. I have it in my display collection.
  9. What are your top 10 favourite sets that you currently own? The rules: You must currently own the set. You can have modified it, not have it assembled or even be using the parts for MOCs. If you had the set but don't any longer, you can't include it. This rule is to prevent wish lists and to minimise nostalgia for childhood sets. You can pick up to 10 sets. Any more can be 'honourable mentions'. Fewer than 10 is fine. Please exclude sets that are just one minifigure (possibly with accessories) such as Collectible Minifigures (CMFs) or minifigures in a foil sachet sold with a magazine. They don't count for the purpose of this listing. 'Gifts with purchase' sets are fine. Polybags are fine. Please list set numbers and names. If you can, please include links to LEGO, Brickset, BrickLink or another recognised database. Please don't just list set numbers; few people recognise set numbers. Please start at 1 at the top, your very favourite. Discussion of others' selections is welcome but please be respectful. Mine: 70841: Benny's Space Squad - link 76188: Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile - link 70403: Dragon Mountain - link 70612: Green Ninja Mech Dragon - link 76058: Spider-Man: Ghost Rider Team-Up - link 31120: Medieval Castle - link 79018: The Lonely Mountain - link 6927: All-Terrain Vehicle - link 6034: Black Monarch's Ghost - link 75005: Rancor Pit - link Honourable mentions: 4805: Ninja Knights, 79005: The Wizard Battle, 9470: Shelob Attacks, 76205: Gargantos Showdown, 70221: Flinx's Ultimate Phoenix
  10. Survey completed. Best of luck with your degree course!
  11. Cool minifigures! I used the same tree stump part to make a carnivorous plant - link.
  12. A great looking creation! You have an excellent artistic eye At first, I missed the ‘woodling’ on the right. It’s a particularly fun detail.
  13. Mea culpa! I'll try to MOC less appealing minifigures next time If you want to replicate my moon elf warrior exactly and you don't have the parts already, you'll also need the helmet (of course), dao and head - none of which come with that CMF. Thanks for saying you like the look. I did think of the purple samurai helmet, but I'm not a big fan of that part. It's too splayed for my liking. Thanks! It's a shame the blades aren't barbed at the end of their inside edge to exactly match the crest on the shield and breastplate. The minifigure is purist (even though I used a technique LEGO frowns on). I don't think I could have come closer with the helmet's ornament even if I had gone non-purist. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
  14. I don't know if this qualifies as 'easily amassed' but maybe for a captain or champion:
  15. @richchie, How many pieces are in your castle? (By the way, your armies and LotR creations are great! You should avoid exposing your LEGO to sunlight though. Sunlight is not LEGO’s friend.)
  16. If you mean the edging, it’s scalloped, but there are many variations that fit in that category. @CallMeCarbiz, Cool pictures. Thanks for sharing. I didn’t know that any caparisons fit the wargs.
  17. I think so too. I would be very surprised if there were more than three Castle minifigures in S23, and not surprised - though disappointed - if there were only one.
  18. At the risk of being a pedant, not strictly. The 3-in-1 Castle contains a moulded frog. But generally speaking, you are correct: Creator sets rarely contain moulded animals and I don’t think there has ever been an animal mould that first appeared in a 3-in-1 set.
  19. @NoOneOfImportance, I also don’t think it’ll include classic smiley faces, or if it does, the heads will be double printed with alternative, non-classic smiley faces. Classic smiley heads are ubiquitous and about 30 to 35p each on the secondary market, so easy enough to obtain if you want to replace any non-smilies. It’s rumoured there will be an anniversary CMF series later this year (series 23) and I’m guessing that some of the minifigures in that series will be classic smilies.
  20. I reckon you could well be right about the number of minifigures and the inclusion of several horses and other moulded animals. If we’re lucky, maybe even a moulded dragon. I expect there will be elaborate interiors such as a great hall, armoury and/or wizard’s chamber/lab. Overall, I’m guessing the size of the castle will be around three times that of the 3-in-1 Creator Castle but with four to five times the number of pieces because of the additional internal and external detail.
  21. The rumour of the 90th anniversary set being Castle rings true. Not only is Promobricks a reliable source but also it being Castle would explain why Ideas keeps rejecting castle projects. I wonder if the set will include a goat. My greatest concern is the price (£350 - ouuuch!) and the space required (where am I going to put it?).
  22. I would guess: 60% Space 20% Castle 15% Pirate 5% Bonc The adult public - excluding AFOLs - views the CS minifigure (like those in Benny’s Space Squad) as an icon of the LEGO brand in a way that no single Castle minifigure is (except, perhaps, Majisto/Merlin). So for that reason, I suspect CS will be selected. For the record, I’d be happy with either CS or Castle.
  23. @sinister5988, You may be interested in the current issue of Blocks Magazine that has a retrospective of sets from this theme and period as well as a rebuild of 6020 Magic Shop.
  24. Set 40525 Endgame Battle has some useful minifigures and parts for fantasy builders. The Korg minifigure, for example, could easily double as a D&D goliath.
  25. Cute! Thanks for sharing.
