Looks good, but I think you should make it all orange and lime-green, just so that you make your own and have it look more like Power Miners. Leave out all the grey and blue, I say. Otherwise, good entry. I really like the use of those orange wheels for the cannon.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 2
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'm not "blaming" anyone, it's just thought that I thought it would be a good time to point it out. I thought I was carrying either your bag or Mister William's bag, but I can't say for sure. Fair enough, ma'am. Suspicious? Of what? -
Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 2
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Correction, ma'am, I do not know where the restrooms are. That voice we keep hearing never told me. Actually, I do recall something slipping out of a bag as I was carrying them to the cabins. I wasn't really paying attention, because I was too busy with the bags, and I wasn't too sure if anything did actually fall out. But, there might have been something, and I think it might have been from Mark William's bag, or maybe Arin Schafer's, but I can't say for sure. I do, however recall that Mrs. Grigsby was carrying a large suitcase at his arrival. Not that it is of any importance, though. -
I'd like the extension, too please. And I see you've finally made use of that calendar on the forum page, KimT.

Thanks for the review, Oky. This looks like a cool set, although I don't know why they would have stop signs in that era. The two speeders are really neat, and offer some alternative creativity to Star Wars. I am looking forward to all of these spectacular aliens in this line- a SW Canatina should be a snap with these. Outstanding set, and great review. I'm picking this up as soon as it reaches the shores ( ) of Wisconsin.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 1
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
*Whispering to crew* Curious... I would keep it quiet, though, we wouldn' want to alarm our passengers, especially at such an early stage of the journey. Dynamic Movement: I'd like to go with Schmelt and Steve. You guys don't mind, do you? -
Murder on the Emerald Express: Discussion
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Camping, for less than 24 hours. Apologies for not saying this right away, I didn't know that so much could happen in a short period of time. It's not haunted, unless Brickster added his own Grave Stone curse to it. It can drive itself though, thanks to Power Functions. -
Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 1
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Why, never sir. I shall call you whatever you prefer. Why of course, anything for a fellow staff member. Welcome, Mr. Parker. The name's Jim Butcher, of course, although I think we already met, in that one place called "Discussion Thread". Of course, mister Bulldog. *Looks up* Yes, sir, very sorry sir, I was just delivering the passengers' luggage to their cabins. So, yes, orientation. Allow me to first introduce you to the staff, properly. I'm Jim Butcher, your steward today, and this is Grant Buell, the brakeman. Over here is Max Syder, your conductor, who will have plenty of time to mingle with everybody thanks to the new Power Functions motor which was installed to the train which basically drives the train itself. Cooking your meals today is Schmelt Borganson, and the maintenance engineer is Steve Thomas. That's all five of us staff members, and seven of you wonderful passengers. It's only the twelve of us today, so I'm afraid I can't say where this Miss Thornton you speak of is. We will be heading non-stop to Los Angeles on this lovely train. Speaking of which, I should inform you about the train's cars. In front, we have the engine and coal tender, followed by the two passenger cars. We also have crew car, a lounge and observation car, and a luggage and equipment car. I think that's it. We don't have a special bathroom car, so I think that the restrooms are on the end of each passenger car. Thank you for riding the Emerald Express, and we hope you have a comfortable journey. Remember: please keep all hands, legs, and other appendages and body parts inside the train at all times. Thank you, we hope to see you again. ...Ahem. So, now that we have all passengers aboard, we can head on out. Start it up, Max! -
Thanks again for a nice review mania3. I can't say I like this set very much at all either, though. There's no new or exclusive minifigures, there's no "wow" factor, and worst of all, it looks like an attempt to "Systemize" a Bionicle. I can't see the pieces being used much in MOCs, either, since the monster is basically joints with a few bley and trans-green pieces. I voted below average.

Thanks for the sweet review, mania3. This is a great set, especially with those minifigs. I also love how TLG adds all of those "accessories" to the castles, towers etc.- we haven't seen those brown axes/ halberds in a while. This is probably the only Castle set I'll get this year (besides MMV, of course).

Wonderful, Adam. I liked this little section before the finale- and I'd thought you had abandoned us! One thing though- in that part where your character talks to Anakin while falling- the game takes place during the clone wars- clones weren't even introduced at that stage in ATOC. Looking forward to that finale, Oky Wan.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 1
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Welcome aboard ladies and gentlemen. All of us on the Emerald Express are very honored to have you all here. Allow me to take those bags for you, and if you'll please find your seats, I will serve you drinks. I hope you all find this journey a comfortable one. -
Murder on the Emerald Express: Rules
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Ah, okay, I got it now. Thanks a lot. -
Going a little off-topic here, but I suppose it all has to do with minifig parts. My advice on the hips: try not to remove the legs from the hips too frequently. But when you do remove them, try gripping one of the legs (with both in a standing position) and just pulling it off. If the rods on the hips are too strong, then flip one leg into a sitting position (with the other standing), and pull backwards just as you did with the arms. It's very possible that the hips will be damaged or bent, but I've never had a rod break. It also helps to have the legs attached to a torso while doing this.

The evolution of Hrothingas castle stage >>4<<
JimBee replied to DNL's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Wow, amazing work, DNL. The stone wall structures with the little details are awesome. I really like that tall tower with the little stone supports on the corners. -
Murder on the Emerald Express: Rules
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Yes, thanks. Makes sense, but how would they "catch" you, per say? If I was slipping poison in a drink, would I have to specify something, such as "I would like to pick up Hinck's glass"? I also apologize for asking all of these questions, this is my first time, too. And it's 4 o'clock PM central time, when will the game start? -
Murder on the Emerald Express: Rules
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Very interesting, Brickster, especially with your two unique rules (LP and DM). I'm definitely looking forward to playing. However, I'm a little confused on this: You mean Hinckley and whoever goes with him initiate a PM conversation with you? Or just Hinckley? If the former, would all of the players involved in the DM have to PM each other (to inform them of the happenings), as well? When nobody sees you? So my character (for example) can slip poison into a drink in front of other characters? Also, is it the usual with night actions- you can't use them unless you're assigned one? -
Great review, Iz. I can't say I like this set that much because of it's minimal size, but it does have some neat play features with the secret compartments. The minifigs are pretty decent, I just wish Dobby had a back print, as he looks naked from behind. Lucius Malfoy is a nice minifig, though, and I like his unique grin and torso. Overall, I rate this set an average. I never was really one for HP sets.

The link doesn't seem to work, it just takes me to some website in a language (Slovenian, I think) I don't understand. Anyway, I've already seen the picture and the calendar looks great. It's good to see the wench and mermaid both making more appearances since I don't want to spend so much on Brickbeard's Bounty. The swordfish look neat. I don't why some people are complaining about not getting a Castle calendar this year- we just got one last year! And, it wasn't even "officially" available in the States. TLG can't make all the themes' calendars in year, just Town and another theme.

OLD Mafia and Mystery Games Index
JimBee replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I agree. The first-come-first-serve has usually worked well in the past. I don't like the idea of the host picking the players, because the decision is most likely going to be biased towards experienced players. I say keep the title as it is. No one who plays in or follows this forum will be confused. -
Show Your Army, Navy, and Collection Display
JimBee replied to BillytheKid's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow, sinoxp and Mutley, I don't think your collections are big enough. 5 Chrome Vaders? I'd kill for the helmet of one. Danthebrick, nice display you've got there. You must be a die-hard collector, considering you bought the big Luke figure for 100 USD. -
I don't like Technic sets that much either, but this sure is a great model, comparable to the UCS Greivous. I like how they made him seem so non-human, with the red eyes and robot-like hands. The torso has a nice amount of detail, without looking too empty. The only thing I could complain about is the lack of a stand or how TLG skimped on the legs a bit. If this had a poll, I'd rate Above Average.
-
Thanks for the info and pics, WhiteFang and Alywin. The set looks nice, and those mirror, "sound", and jester hat pieces sound useful. However, I don't really see this as a spectacular set at all. In fact, it looks a little thrown together, like those small Creator sets. And for it's sky-high price, I definitely won't be getting this. I look forward to a review though, it would be interesting to see this set in action.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Characters
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Jim Butcher (Steward) Hello, ladies and gentlemen, I'll be your steward today. Drinks, anyone? I'm keeping my eye on you, mister. -
Wow, some very impressive art here, HoundKnight. If you're taking more requests, could I have one, too please, of my new sigfig? In case my avatar changes before you read this, it's Ki-Adi Mundi. Very creative on Erdbeereis' drawing, by the way.
