I've heard of such a place before. It is a secret place, not to be mentioned to the outside world. It sounds exciting, Kim! I'm really grateful for all of these recent contests- I think this is the most we've had in such a short period of time.

I was looking around for this topic, and now it's revived, so thanks Spyder. Thanks for the little tutorial, Eilif. I went to the Lego store in Schaumberg, IL a few months ago and filled up a large Pick-A-Brick cup with pieces for my current project. I spent a good half-hour trying to shove as many piece in there as I could, keeping your advice in mind the entire time. A nice guy (a father, I think) even reminded me to put some pieces in the lid. I tried various combos of stacked and unstacked bricks, but in the end I decided to not use your method and just leave everything unstacked. I fit quite a lot in, but I don't think as much as you did. Here are some pictures: There are some pieces missing (about 15 yellow 2x4 bricks and about 20-25 2x4 black fence pieces), but rest assured it was filled to the top. The three brown 2x4 bricks were in the lid.

That's pretty neat, BaronSat. The design is pretty slick, and I like how the secret compartments open to reveal the different weapons. However, I have one gripe: I don't think that it would be too smart to have the flamethrower right above a heat-seeking missile, unless Batman was trying to blow himself up.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 14B
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'm hearing voices again, and it's not Alex... and it's telling me that we should grab the tractor and get out of here. This place creeps me out already... -
Happy birthday, def and steelharbingerofdeath!
JimBee replied to Luke McAwesome's topic in Community
Happy Birthday, def! Funny thing that you have the same birthday as the Academy. And also happy b-day to steelharbringerofdeath, even though I don't remember you... -
Awesome! I'm going to have to check your Flickr for a larger pic of the red one.

Medieval Market Village, I'd say. It has a good amount of tan parts, as well as plenty of other useful parts.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 14A
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Alright, I'll go. I'll be stepping carefully, though, making sure there's no bear traps under my feet before I step. -
Nice vig, SimonStorm. I think I saw this on Flickr, what name do you go by on that? Or maybe I saw it on TBB... Anyway, the way I view this MOC is similar to saberwing's idea. A man is tied to a normal-sized tree, but is somehow thousands of feet high above the pyramids. The man is forced to confess to something, and every lie he tells the closer he gets to falling. That last bit is just guesswork, but that's the feeling I got when I first looked at the picture.

Hmm, Jurassic Park. I haven't seen many MOCs based off of that. Great job, though, fantastic SNOT, and I love what you did with the bloody teeth. I agree with Etzel that you could change the car color scheme to make it a little more interesting. And I know it's not supposed to be exactly like the movie, but the dino could be just a little bigger. Then again, it's great how it is if you're not going for movie accuracy. I like the photo editing technique that you did with the first picture, by the way. It really brings out the feeling of the movie scene.

Sorry I took so long to reply to these latest comments, I forgot all about them. Thanks, Eilif. What I meant by "published" is that is is meant to be an official article. Once an article is in a magazine or newspaper, the author shouldn't and wouldn't change it. I know that this is entirely different, but I consider it bad form on myself to change a review or article once they're published. It's not so far far away...

Movie you liked but most people hated...
JimBee replied to Emperor Claudius Rome's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Shh, don't let KimT hear of this! Yeah, I enjoyed all three PT movies, and I don't understand why some hate them. Dislike parts, yes, like some of the cheesy script, but not hate the PT. Jar Jar doesn't bother me, but I can see where he'd get on someone's nerves. Thanks to Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon, that whole movie was awesome to me (oh, and the cool fight and podrace scenes ). -
Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 14A
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
We could run to the airport real quick, grab the barrel of fuel, run to the farm, fill the tractor up, and then hook up the tanker to the tractor and bring it to the EE. Or we could use Lorraine's semi, does that still have gas? -

And I serve drinks! *Cough*... uh, I'll just do that over by the picnic. -
That picture of the chrome stormtooper is by far your very best. That pale blue light from your iPod really brings out the chrome shine... I hope you don't mind if I use it as my desktop background?

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 14A
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Okay then, make yourself comfortable, Greaseman. Brakes and Steve, do you mind helping me with the engine? Max, you can go tie yourself to that tree and wait 'til we're done. Mmm! Delicious! -

Yes, finally. Hopefully someone won't die from fixing the engine. -
I have yet to see the movie, but I love what you did with the claws and eyes, using blade pieces. I also like the lever pieces used for the eyes, they make it look very alive.

Why Power Miners is better than Rock Raiders
JimBee replied to Zarkan's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Excellent article, Grevious. You've definitely convinced me that PM is better than RR, and you even made me want to go out and buy every single set (I don't have any yet). When the prelim pics came out, I was completely disgusted with color scheme, but later, I realized that it was something new, and that the set designs were great. Plus, orange and lime green were some of the rarest colors until PM, so that's another reason to be thankful. I agree with you that the rock monsters are better than their older counterparts. While I still like he older version, it pales in comparison to the new, and now that I look at it, the design was pretty amateur. The grounded arm was connected to the back legs, there was only one movable part, and it didn't have a place for minifigs to sit on (only two pairs of studs, versus four grouped studs). Thanks once again for this article . -
MOC: The Court of King Octopus
JimBee replied to fallentomato's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nice MOC, fallentomato. I'm a sucker for alternate builds, and this is no exception. The Speeder is awesome in shape, and I love the coral throne. The crown is pretty neat, too. By the way, when you said "junk coral", I wasn't sure what you meant... -
Movie you liked but most people hated...
JimBee replied to Emperor Claudius Rome's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Indiana Kones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, definitely. Okay, the inclusion of aliens was questionable, but that doesn't mean we all have to lose our heads (hehe, get it? Bad reference joke ). The movie in itself was excellent, and they did an excellent job on making it seem like the classic films (the style, the action...). I thoroughly enjoy this movie every time I watch it (I own it on DVD). What irritates me the most is that people call it "unrealistic". Have the Ark or the Holy Grail ever been scientifically proven to exist? No, so the original films were no more realistic than KOTCS. Besides, they're movies. Anything can happen in a movie, that's why people watch them. -
It's called the CC function, and yes, it's limited to only fellows and staff. The only reason to use this function that I can think of is for Mafia/ Mystery games, for conversing within a group.
-
I just noticed and came rushing to the W&F forum to see! Congratulations Svelte, really. I was wondering when you would get a staff position; you're perfect for the job. I'll miss you around here, Siegfried. Good luck on the move. What theme?
-
Thank you. And I just realized that I forgot to add a 1x1 plate to the inner right slope piece (on the very front, next to the grill). I'll add this and retake pictures.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 13
JimBee replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I think we explored everything so far. We just need to get back to town so we can figure out how to get out of this place. Also, Grease, could you do me a quick favor? When we get back to town, could you please open up the gun safe in the jail with your lock picking abilities? I just want to make sure that guns are in there, and not something else...
