I think Endgame made it pretty clear what is and what isn't within the quest parameters. There's a point where you just have to go with it and you can do so without breaking character. Does Lind really think that searching out more trees that were clearly stated to be out of reach is the only solution? The QM is obviously steering you to solve the issue at hand.

OOC: The Blade of Tranquility should be with Hybros. Hybros peered over the airship's railing for a while before turning to Arthur. "Of course." He handed a Phoenix Incense each to Hoke and Arthur. "I assume you found what you were looking for? Or rather, what you were not looking for, heheheh..."

Hybros smiles at Legonardo. "It is good to know that progress is being had here. Should I deliver your regards to Jun and his family?" He then looks to the sky. "I am ready to go when Arthur returns." "I cannot say I am surprised that he is coming with, heheh... perhaps on the journey you could explain a bit more, Guffington? It was no easy task finding the First Breath, I would like to know its ultimate purpose."

Another raised eyebrow. "That's for you to decide. Are you willing to let someone die over a little phantom pain?" "I can choose my own problems. My accountability and my job mean nothing if I turn back on my word. Maybe that's different for you, old man, but I for one am no double-crossing traitor. If Gabriel wants to give the leaf to the hothead, so be it, but that is not up to me or any of us."

Jinnipher looked at Gabriel with a raised eyebrow but didn't say anything else. "Gold won't change anything. I for one am bound to my word. I'm contracted to complete this job and that's what I intend to do. I really am sorry for your sister, but that's not our problem right now." She crossed her arms and looked away, obviously conflicted but not giving in.

Hybros opens his eyes and grins, deeply satisfied that he had found the First Breath. "Thank you, heheh... Although I am not sure how I can present this to whoever Guffington wishes to give it to." "Legonardo!" Hybros bows low to the scientist. "I was hoping that we would see you here. How are things here in Xu?" Hybros nodded his thanks to both warriors. "It was an honor being able to train here. I suppose we must be going sooner rather than later... But if Guffington is alright with it we can stay a little longer. I suppose our next destination is Etheria, if the others have found their artifacts?"

"Well that was easy..." Jinnipher started to say as Garson approached the party. After some consideration she replied. "Look, as much as I would like to save a life today, we can't give you the leaf. We were hired to get it and we're going to stay true to our word. Best of luck to you and your sister. Sorry."

Jinnipher sighed, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. "Well now that you've seen what you were missing all along, it's not so great is it? The good feelings come with the bad, but especially in this line of work it's mostly bad. Can you still just go around killing people because you're paid to? You were good at your job because the person on the other end of that handcannon wasn't a person at all, just a target." She kept hiking silently for a moment, then added, "Look, maybe you were lucky the way you were before. It was probably simpler back then."

Hybros becomes distinctly aware of the people gathering around him, but does not lose focus. He accepts Chauncey's, Hoke's and Kiga's advice with a small nod, then tries to focus on the mountain again. This time he stays focused, and clears any thought of the First Breath from his mind. He breathes in deeply and thinks on what he has learned here at the temple. Strength in body, mind and spirit, and to not focus on the end goal but the journey. More or less, as important as the job that Guffington had hired the heroes to do, the quest had been more about their encounters along the way than actually receiving the artifacts. Perhaps it was thoughts that resided on these experiences that would give way to success.

Posting here because I don't want to clutter the #139 thread with OOC... but I'm really not sure if this is the solution. It'll look pretty silly if it isn't, but after a month and a half of trying to crack this riddle it's the best I could come up with.

Hybros musters all of his focus and directs it at the mountain itself and everything around it. The Vault's walls were just walls and the First Breath was really just a force existing within nature and within himself, as timeless as the mountain and the many masters who meditated here before him. If he really wanted to, he could reach beyond the walls and grasp the Breath with his hands.

Jinnipher hefted the Brine Blade and admired the craftsmanship. "Not bad. I'll let you know how it does in battle. I guess that will be soon, huh?" She nudged Gabriel playfully. "Well he can't be much weirder than you, sugar."

Hybros sits crossed-legged in front of the building. He takes a moment to reach out and pick one of the pink flowers to gaze at it before closing his eyes. He begins to meditate deeply, inhaling and exhaling slowly. With each breath he gathers a thought and then lets it go, repeating until he has reached some semblance to a nirvana. His focus is unbroken.

"Hmm..." Hybros hummed, satisfied and at peace. He slowly rose to his feet, smiled at Lady Felix, and tipped his hat to Kiga before heading for the Vault.

Hybros breathes in the tea-scented vapor and closes his eyes, resting peacefully for the moment.

"All too well, heheh." Hybros sunk deeper into the water. "I do not imagine any of the people I have caused harm are good enough to track me down either. At least, I have never had to deal with such things. It is good, I have too much to worry about with completing quests and my people. Though I know to watch my back." He stayed silent for a while, then added, "Would you like to visit the tea house with me, Lady Felix? I have found it can be quite centering."

Jinnipher ignored Lind and sat next to Gabriel. "Well there's no sense in being paranoid about Immortalis bringing the apocalypse every time it rains a little. Besides, Vorpalis was just as cocky and we took him down." She nodded. "Of course." Looking over to the blacksmith and drawing the Brine Blade, "The dragon sword is just fine. How about you sharpen the edge on this one?" She tossed over 75 gold. "Who?"

OOC: I totally forgot to reply to Felix, sorry! I didn't realize that it's been almost a week since I posted here. At least it will give Hoke and Purpearl a chance to catch up. Hybros grinned. "Perhaps you are right. I do not tend to worry about those who might wish to hurt me - I can defend myself. I knew a gnome once, an assassin. He was hiding from the organization he left for many years. I was there when they finally caught up with him. I could have saved him, I suppose… but when one's time comes… Well, eheh… Who would want to find you, Lady Felix?"

Jinnipher looked annoyed that the old man had interrupted her. "My sword works just fine." She raised an eyebrow. "You're right, Lind is a coward and I wouldn't doubt it was his fault. You still should've accounted for that. I'll be sure to not make the same mistake." Loot: Jinnipher: 40 gold, Mead Calamity: Ectoplasm Pretzel: Remedy, Grand Potion, 20 gold She considered for a moment, then tossed the other two Remedies and Grand Potion at Lind's feet. "Make yourself useful and patch the real heroes up when it's needed." Seemingly pacified for the moment, Jinnipher looked up at the sky with Gabriel. "Afraid of getting wet?"
