    Paris 1930

Stunning MOC, 74louloute! It's definitely reminiscent of an old-timey scene in Paris. There are some really neat details like the easel and the round news billboard (not sure what those are called). The minifigures are also nice, my favorite being the old man with the loaf of bread. The girl with minifig hands as feet creates a nice effect (at least from the sides), and I like the combination of Lucius Malfoy's torso (coat print) with the dark green dress. Of course, the modular buildings are great as well.
  2. Nice modifications to Legohaulic's design. The front section and grille are much more realistic-looking, in my opinion. The camouflage technique is neat, but I think it would look better if you just stuck with tan and dark tan and left out the dark green.
  3. No, the performance by most of you was quite impressive, but I don't think how much of a noob you look like really matters. Everyone has got to learn sometime, even if someone is completely missing the concept of mafia at the beginning. I'm sure everyone who makes an attempt to learn the ways of mafia will turn out to be a good player eventually. Like Hinckley's said numerous times, there are several good sources for learning out there, including the new "lesson" concept that is being incorporated into this Mafia School game. By the way, I'm referring to all mafia players in general, and no one specifically. The players/students of this game aren't the only ones learning.
  4. Thanks for the game, Bob. From what I can tell, it was very well put-together, the clues especially. You also gave an extreme amount of dedication, so great job overall. Personally, I did terrible in this game. I was just missing it for the first few chapters, and when Walter Kovacs brought up evidence I attacked to fiercely and no one would listen after that. Good thing I was right though. IMO, it did get very long towards the end, and like I've said before, I stopped following after my part was done. Six months is a long time to be playing any game, and I think the enthusiasm really died when hardly anyone was playing. However, you did a great job bringing everyone together towards the end (Chapter 11), so overall I think this game was successful. And congrats to the winners as well.
  5. For me, S5 wasn't as good as S1, 2, or 4, but not as lackluster as 3. I like a good amount of the minifigs, but a few of them I'll pass on. I chose the gangster as my favorite, because of that neat pinstriped suit and that awesome violin tommy gun case. The gladiator was a close second, and I also like the Grenadier. I wonder which one will be the most sought-after for army-building?
  6. Olivia Wilde? Yeah she's good looking, but I wonder how she would fit in with a movie like POTC. Only one way to find out, I guess. That sounds reasonable. He's got the accent, and the swagger, I could see him as a pirate (or Imperial commander, whichever is needed).
  7. Happy Birthday iamded!
  8. Congratulations, Rufus! I'm sure you'll do a great job moderating this forum.
  9. Admittedly, I haven't been following the game since my character "died", but uh... look who was right all along, about Delores Jefferson. And everyone thought poor Chief Phelps was a commie. Suck it. (I'm a little confused, was Chapter 15 the conclusion of the game?)

  11. Happy birthday, Tanotrooper! Maybe a little late for your timezone, but it's still May 7th here. Hope you enjoyed it, and got some new materials for some future TTfigs.
  12. No, but I suppose one of those isn't too far off. No, sorry. A hint: The movie is based off of a book.
  13. Okay, here's one that's hopefully a little tougher than my last:
  14. I'm currently listening to the soundtracks of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3. I used to be able to play part of the first movie's soundtrack on viola, but 2 and 3's music is much better, IMO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jichCVAC9tk&feature=related
  15. LOL at your new title. :P

  16. Interesting points. I think the first is much more likely, just like they did with the other big series or even single films. Star Wars, Terminator, Indiana Jones, Tron... the list goes on. Not that it's always a bad thing, I like a few of reboots, but I'm sure older fans might feel differently. I agree that PotC doesn't stand a chance as a constant series like the Bond films. The main thing preventing that is the fact that the first three films were very different from each other, but were all connected. The 007 films, on the other hand, all follow a similar formula so that a new adventure can be created for each film. And like you said, I don't imagine a specific plot such as that of PotC can have too many creative opportunities to offer. Are you agreeing with me? I basically said the same thing.
  17. Wait, really? Ha. Well, I don't have time tonight, but I'll put mine up this time tomorrow.
  18. At the risk of sounding like even less of a movie buff, I'll guess one more time. One of the Jeepers Creepers films? I still think it's pretty vague. Plenty of movies have had ominous scarecrows in them.
  19. And they didn't even get a critical response for 4 yet? I think they should stop while they're ahead, but since when did big franchise series directors/producers ever care about the series's image? Never. As long as people continue watching them, they'll keep making them. I would've been extremely content with an open-ended conclusion to At World's End, but I am looking forward to On Stranger Tides. We'll see how it turns out though. I'm surprised Depp is still interested in playing the role of Jack Sparrow at all. If anyone remembers, Bloom and Knightly both turned down roles in the fourth film, so I would think that Depp would've followed suit eventually. Of course, he's the perfect man for the job, and I doubt anyone else could play Sparrow and still have the same result, but still, there's got to be a time when he finally says no.
  20. I wish there was still the traditional Category B competition in addition to the new version, but this is pretty cool too. I may attempt to enter B, but the figures would all have to be purist since I'm not much of a customizer. It'll be very interesting to see what some of the entrants come up with, though.
  21. Okay then... Husk?
  22. That one's awfully vague... how about... Night of the Scarecrow?
  23. Except when I keep having to flip my screen over every time I leave EB...:P

  24. 2/ Pharaoh's Quest Curse of the Mummy - 1 point 10/ Ninjago Battle Chess Arena - 2 points 18/ Treasure hunt on the river Nile - 2 points 21/ Professor Hale's Oasis Hacienda - 1 point 27/ Ninjago Red Castle - 1 point What a contest. Thanks to the staff for putting it together, and the entries were really something. It was really hard to pick which entries should get my votes, but the main question I asked myself when choosing was, "Would I buy it?". That, I think, is what should decide which entries are the best, because that's the whole point of a D2C set. Good luck to all!
