Heroica RPG - Quest#2: Looking Through the Wares
JimBee replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Way to go, everyone. That was a great battle. Before we hightail out of here, if you don't mind, Boomingham, I would like the fleuret, since you're the only one who can use the shield. -
Hey Bob, Sorry to see you're not getting the response you had hoped for. I'm not signing up because I realized that I don't really enjoy mystery games, and I usually bring the game down rather than help it. I really don't have enough time to analyze all of the clues, etc. and stay committed to the same game for over a month or so. If I signed up, it would be for worse. Sorry, buddy. I hope you get some more sign-ups, I'd be interested in following along this game that you have put so much effort into.

Eric, hang in there. You should probably try to attack Umbra, even though it won't have an effect. It's the only thing you can do right now. -

Excellent, then Alexis, you should use your smoke bomb and go last. I'm thinking the rest of us should target Umbra, with Boomingham going first, then Eric (I'm not sure what he can do without a weapon, unfortunately, since we don't really need to use any items), then Atramor and I, then Rufindel, and finally Alexis. We can't take any free hits with Boomingham in the Sentinel position, and this way we don't have to target the dog if we don't have to (if it uses it's Safeguard ability to protect Umbra). By the way, sorry if I seem bossy, I know I'm not the leader here. I just really want to win this. -

As long as the plan of using the smoke bomb as a last resort works, Alexis, use the smoke bomb. If not, attack the dog. I'll attack Umbra from the front row. -

JimBee replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Right. I think we should all attack except for Alexis (and Eric), who will go last and use her smoke bomb. I wonder if we'll all land hits, and if we don't win after the four attacks, Alexis will help us flee. Or will we flee no matter when Alexis goes? If it's the latter, then I think we should all attack. -

JimBee replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
This is the moment of truth, friends. I think either Alexis or I should try to flee, just in case our attacks are unsuccessful. That's a toss-up with the choice of all of us attacking, and failing the quest if we don't win in one round. Remember that Eric cannot attack this round (our strongest ally, too...). If we flee, the Rogue(s) who attempts to do so should go last. Either way, I think Alexis should target the beast, since she has the chance of attacking both enemies. Everyone else should either flee or attack Umbra. Does this sound like a good plan? -

Heh, I'm glad we disposed of those beasts right away. Let's not count our chickens before they hatch though. Including that one under your hat, Atramor. I'll attack the dog from the front, leaving someone more powerful to deal damage to Umbra. -

Hmm, should've taken the money, Tooms. I'll also attack Dog A from the front. -
To reply to some of the new additions: I had actually planned to watch Rick on Night One, because I had the role that I gave him in Werewolf. Call it metagaming, call it random, whatever, it's just too bad I didn't. I blame Zepher for painting a target on himself. I targeted him Night Five for quietness and overall suspicion. Going along with the crowd, but having independent thoughts as well, made him puzzling to me. I think I mentioned this in Day 3, but I did notice the dynamite and wondered if it meant anything. I still don't get how we would know Sandy was a bomb. I know, which is a lesson learned. I actually found a game with no night actions (Belville) to be a nice break from games like that with a bunch of power roles. I think you found a nice balance with the half-power, half-vanilla coffee/energy drink blend town. Thanks for the feedback, by the way. I suppose you're right, it's frustrating to lose no matter what, but I'm glad I survived long enough to use my role to some extent. I really did enjoy using it.

I'm still for fighting 'zis woman, but if the majority want to try to double-cross three families, then I will go ahead with it. -
Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum II: sign up thread
JimBee replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Woo! I'd love to play. I've played in nine mafia games total, starting with Noir and ending at Baritones 3 (I've missed a few in between). All the details are on my profile. And I don't belong in an asylum. I'm not crazy. Are you saying I'm crazy? Well I'm not. So stop asking. Really. I'm not insane. Not insane, not insane, not insane... -
Ah, I see now. It's true, I feel like the SK without these special advantages would be sending a neutral player into an unwinnable game (which is how I felt after Werewolf... sorry Rick and TinyP!). Like you said, the tracking/watching ability was a little too much, but then he needed it to find scum. I just thought the whole relationship with the two families and the SK was too complicated. Ha, to be honest with you I hadn't considered that. I figured that WBD would've told you guys, but I thought he believed my story anyway. I never realized the scum would put two and two together and know that it was me. I remember blowing up in the Sandy-Tammo-JimB PM about you. "Def is really getting on my nerves, he keeps asking about me!". That's what I figured when I signed up, it's a shame that wasn't used. It probably would've been hilarious, but also somewhat confusing, I can imagine.

Sandy, I would just like to comment that I appreciate and enjoy your narrations of each battle round. They make the battle much easier to comprehend and also make it much more entertaining. I hope that this is a tradition continued by future hosts.

[super long post, bear with me please.] Well, good game everyone. It definitely was a blast, and has been the most fun I've had in a mafia game since Eurodina. I don't think I did as horrible as I've (as one of the townies that's not iamded) been said to have done, but definitely not my best game. I was confused as hell most of the time, and was tricked more than once. Especially after reading the responses here, I felt extremely outplayed (Foog). I wish I would've branched out and PMd more people to get a better feel for things. What I am proud of (if it's the only good thing I did in this game) was my aggression towards Draggy. I voted for him three days in a row, but there weren't enough people that followed me. I had allied myself with Sandy on Day 4, and later Tammo. We were in the process of finding iamded innocent, and we could've made a powerful team, but that took too long and it was too late before I died and then the next day we lost. I realized that I had been given an extremely powerful role, but I wasn't using it right for part of the time. Namely, when I tracked Roncanator and saw him kill Zepher, and didn't use my head before revealing all this to Sandy. I wasn't much use after that, since the following consecutive nights I tried to track/watch Draggy but was blocked by KV and Def. Which brings me to the point of roles and game balance. Hinck, you threw an awesome game, but I just think that there were too many power roles in general. The game balance was fine, but the large amount of power roles and the inclusion of multiple mafias really made things complicated. It really could've gone either way, but Lady Luck was just not with the town on this one, and everything was pretty confusing. There were also some pretty powerful roles. Not to say I didn't like mine, but IMO Rick's was too much. An unkillable killer who can kill the unkillable? And track and watch? I know you have to give the neutrals some special powers, but you can't make them invincible. Not to say that Rick didn't play excellently, though. Also, looking at the night actions, the scum were pretty powerful. Generally speaking, I'm completely against punishing the town for not reaching a lynch, at least to the extreme of handing the scum more power when this happens. Okay, I'm done ranting about the mechanics for now. Love you, Hinck! A few other notes, WaterBrick Down, you played wonderfully. You had me fooled from start to finish, and I think it would've been different if I hadn't PMd you in the first place. So, great game. Tammo, I don't know what to make of you anymore. You turned out to be right half of the time, and dead wrong the other half. I was beginning to find it hard to trust you towards the end. I remember you saying at one point that everyone except me, you, Sandy, and Rick were scum. Still, I enjoyed playing with you and I wish our alliance with Sandy and iamded would've come together quicker. As for throwing the game back into balance, I think you did fine with the back-up roles. Changing the game while it's playing is never a good idea, and I think you did well in not "beefing the town back up", Hinck. I would be interested in knowing the possibilities of the Fool Moon abilities that were given to the scum teams. How powerful were they? For example, how much could a rule be changed, and what were the parameters of the Dream Whisperer?

JimBee replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
I still agree with Rufindel. This does not follow our mission parameters, and in fact goes against them. If we tell her anything, we may end up not getting anything except a bad reputation. I'm in favor of fighting this sneaky rogue-like woman. -

Sorry, I didn't realize it only took six votes to lynch. I thought by "last-minute", you meant Tammo's vote. I should know better than to second-guess the host. My deepest apologies, Hinck. Edit: I noticed that you put Tammo's vote down for Quarry, but he voted for Draggy, which is why I said something in the first place. -

Hybros turns to Boomingham, and whispers, "You're right, but Lorcan never said that he or any of the Hinckwells knew for a fact that their cargo was stolen by the Shadeaux, they only had suspicions. Besides, we found something here that we were not expecting to find, and I think that we'd be paid handsomely for finding the Ziegfried crates". Hybros continued in a hushed tone. "And I think we'd be paid by the Hinckwells anyway. Our mission was to go in and see if there were any Hinckwell crates at all, not to retrieve crates that aren't even here. Besides, if we double-cross the Hinckwells, they'll never hire any of us again. I still think we should stand and fight". -
IMHO, it'd be a good song if they were actually vocalizing instead of grunting/screaming. That's pretty much my opinion on all screamo/metalcore. Anyways, it's good to see more people listening to grunge/90s rock, which is what I listen to a lot of the time. Right now I'm listening to this: Such a timeless song.

Heroica RPG - Quest#2: Looking Through the Wares
JimBee replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Please, madame", Hybros asked the beautiful Umbra. "Allow us to discuss our choice among ourselves before answering". Hybros turned toward his companions. "Well, it seems like we have to choose between the Hinckwells and the Shadeaux. This woman seems tough, and she's offering us the same amount as our reward would be", whispered Hybros. "Plus, we get this strange bottle. I'm not favored either way towards the Hinckwells or Shadeaux, but I am wary of the trickery that may be present here. She might get the name out of us, and kill us anyways. Besides, the Hinckwells specifically told us not to reveal them". Hybros continued in a hushed tone, making sure Umbra couldn't hear what he was saying. "I think we should decline, and take our chances with waging war on the Shadeaux. In any case, I'll drink a potion so that I'm fully prepared to do battle". -
Excellent MOC, Skrytsson. The Kraken is spot on, and all of the rows of teeth really are faithful to the film. Not only is the MOC great, the presentation is as well. I like how you've sort of played out the scene in your images, and overall the photography is excellent. Amazing stuff you've been building lately.
